How much would I be memeing myself by getting a 5080 instead of a 5090 for 4k 240hz gaming? Would it be doable using DLSS and all the other framegen shit, or would the results be less than satisfactory thanks to >16GB vram. I'm using my 9800X3D's IGPU right now and I don't think I have wait for a 5080ti/super refresh.

This looks promising. Thanks anon bro. I like the whole modular/easy access form factor of these benchmark test rigs, but hate that you're stuck with it out in the open air. I don't even care about the size, but I would buy a pc case of that open bench mark case if it had panels and a handle on top.

Using different models for RAID is pretty common. Cause if you buy multiple drives of the same model, at the same time, maybe even from the same seller, odds are they're from the same batch. If that batch happens to be defective, all your drives are likely defective.
One solution is buying a few different models, often from different brands; another solution is gradually piecing together your RAID, like you seem to be doing already.

if the only DLSS available was DLSS 2.0 Quality mode that would be enough for me, it adds a little bit of extra frames, I can't tell the difference in-game, and it almost always allows a decent drop in temps.

especially when it comes at cost of having to manage a pixel refresh meme that interrupts (You)r flowstate of doomscrolling
>Mah heckin forced image refresh after x hours
why is this a thing? why not just do it on shut down or idle or no input? it's gonna adjust shit eventually regardless, it won't burn in more because a delayed pixel refresh (I don't think)
Day unknown of coping if I should return my oled or not, for now
will I vomit when I see non infinite blacks again? Will I vomit at ips bleed on monitors?
I mean I use my shitty, like total dogshit 60% Srgb gamut laptop display fine still and I'm sure a lg nano ips 98% DCIP3 monitor would not look that bad
in dark scenes oled will completely destroy ips and anything without dimming zones, but in bright scenes its most likely not
anyway, another day another cope, let me think about it

You have to think like a business, NVIDIA set their own internal performance targets for GPUs at least two to three generations ahead.
NVIDIA already showed their hand when the RTX 4060 wasn't even providing 20% gains over the 3060.
Their goal is to make as much profit while selling the smallest possible GPU chip for each GeForce SKU.
15% generational gains seem to be their minimum accepted target for the non-halo cards.
3nm/2nm/16A chips are only going to get costlier, expect even more die shrinks for the sub-halo SKUs.
That's why NVIDIA's shilling so many AI features, those Tensor & other related parts are more space-efficient in a GPU if all those AI enhancements are on.
The RTX 4060 outsold the RX 7600/XT and whatever Intel had to offer anyway.

X3D means it uses AMD's 3D V-cache technology with increases L3 cache size and makes games perform substantially better. Depending on the price, the 7600X3D is one of the best deals you can get for gaming at the moment. If you have Microcenter, they have a bundle for it with mobo and RAM.

Well that would be a great deal in the US, but if it's available for $300, then I wonder how much boards that retail for $280-300 here, like the X870 Tomahawk, cost in your country (Romania I am assuming). What exactly are you looking for in a mobo? The Nova is nice but desu the only thing that really makes it worthwhile is being able to populate all 5 M2 slots without PCIE lane splitting issues. Do you really think you'll need more than 2-3 m2 drives? If not, all the same features it has, minus the backplate, can be had on cheaper boards.

The fact performance hasn't made a huge uplift quite literally incentivizes keeping older cards.
By default the cards last atleast 2 years because it's 2 years before a new one comes out. It means only a year where the card you have isn't the fastest for the series of card.

You guys have to understand the better cards NVIDIA sells this generation sets higher performance expectations for their next-gen GPUs.
That is what happened to RTX 20 Turing after NVIDIA went all-out in GTX 10 Pascal.
NVIDIA's deliberately sandbagging the performance of today's GeForce cards to make the next-generation performance targets (+15~30% on Blackwell 2.0) easier & more profitable to meet.
This is what happens when AMD only shows up when Sony needs better console APUs.

If your not happy with the performance of newer cards, don't buy them.
Fussing about it then buying anyway is just what Nvidia wants you to do.

You benchmark is a best case for the 7900 XTX as well. No DLSS or RT, basically hamstringing the Geforce cards to make Radeon look competitive. 7900 XTX isn't strong enough for 4K in the latest demanding games, unlike the 4080, which provides excellent 4K performance and image quality because of DLSS

I would consider RTX 50 to be a pretty mediocre generation, basically a Super tier refresh in terms of raw performance if you're not counting unobserved in the wild neural shaders etc. DLSS4 MFG will be decent for people buying 240 Hz monitors, but otherwise I don't think RTX 50 is particularly awe inspiring. Nvidia's CES keynote was tech pr0n though

>You could just as easily focus on the 3080 to 4080 uplift and say that Nvidia is targeting 50% improvement gen over gen.
Those gains happened because Radeon was still capable of selling GPUs that could compete against -80 tier cards (7900XTX) in rasterized games (still the predominant 3D render).
When NVIDIA GeForce is uncontested, they go back to the 15~30% gains, and that is good business.

It's more that they are stuck on the same basic node. When AMD & Nvidia move to 2nm next-gen we should see some great gains if they aren't all eaten by Ray-tracing/Frame-Gen nonsense. AMD in particular because it be both a node jump and a memory bump as well because RDNA4 is staying on GDDR6.

Is this computer for gaming? No reason to get a 4 stick RAM kit on AM5 unless you need like 196GB or whatever. You'd probably be served by some of the cheaper B850 boards that should be released in the coming days. If US pricing is anything to go off, they'll be $100-120 cheaper than the Nova, come with PCIE 5 and have 3-4 M2 slots with no lane splitting. As long as you aren't getting some $140 cheappppp board, AM5 boards are all going to be pretty similar as far as how far you'll be able to push your PCB. The VRMs will be overkill on all of them, unless you're planning on doing competitive overclocking, and the internal memory controller for AM5 CPUs is going to limit you in RAM OCing long before a mobo will, but you can get an 8 layer board if you're trying to push like 8200mhz or something.

No, they are deliberately selling relatively small laptop chips for higher yields & margins.
Turing showed they are capable of selling genuinely massive chips.
A TU104 for the 2080 was 545 mm2. I'm not saying NVIDIA should make a 500mm2 GB203, but they can do better than a pathetic 377 mm2, it's a regression from AD103.

And it's more profitable to sell smaller Blackwell chips for everything except the 5090.

What a lot of people don't understand about Frame Generation is that it requires a base level of performance (50-60 FPS) to be useful. It's what's known as a 'win more' type of technology. If you're already winning (i.e., performance above the minimum) then it's good, but if you don't have that baseline performance, it's useless. For this reason the 5070 will still be garbage for path tracing compared to the 4090, despite Nvidia's claims. Trying to run PT at a high enough base resolution and framerate to be usable is still the domain of the higher tier cards.

>Using your rationale, Samsung and Intel can't compete, so there's no reason for TSMC to push itself or show its hand even if it could have readied a better node in time for consumer Blackwell.
Every advanced chip designer on this planet wants to utilize TSMC's fab capacities & packaging expertise despite their current challenges on the latest nodes.
TSMC knows very well these buyers will leave them for Intel and/or Samsung when the performance & cost numbers don't add up.
Until that time, TSMC gets to enjoy the fruits of their uncontested labor that no one else is willing to compete in.
Even your boy Jensen's been saying TSMC deserve to raise their wafer prices.
The cost-per-transistor challenge is a physics problem that no one can easily solve, this is not a "TSMC resting on their laurel" issue.
Intel being a TSMC client for their core & GPU tiles says all about the associated challenges. Not to mention Samsung's mobile chip development being a TSMC client.

So, I managed to figure out all the components for my PC, aside from a PC case. The more I look, the more I am undecided, as all the cases seem to be a bit too confusing for me, as to what is good quality and what is not.
For reference, I have an Asus TUF RTX 4080 Super and I got an Arctic Freezer III 360mm, as well as 9800x3D. With that in mind, what would you recommend? I'm looking for premium build quality case, so price isn't exactly an issue.

I wouldn't buy a premium for Noctua NF-A12x25 because they're developing a G2 variant.
If you plan to get ARGB fans, be aware of using Lian Li's proprietary RGB management software (L Connect).
It fucks with memory overclocking system stability.

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/TG
I wouldn't buy a premium for Noctua NF-A12x25 because they're developing a G2 variant.
If you plan to get ARGB fans, be aware of using Lian Li's proprietary RGB management software (L Connect).
It fucks with memory overclocking system stability.

The TUF case won't be ideal for front intake airflow.
PA602 is a nice premium case, but it is fucking massive. Watch some videos of the PA602.
ASUS is also selling wood variants of the PA602, both metal or tempered glass side panel variants.

If the case is too big, your case fans need to push more air to cool the components, this wouldn't be a deal breaker for me but it's something you should know.

Yes but pricing is irrelevant in that comparison, which is strictly performance and branding.

Realistically, my requirement is just for the parts to fit and for the build to have good airflow, as well as the components themselves to be of high build quality. Minus the case, My build costs around... 2.8k$ give or take, so I rather have it in something that will preserve the parts, you know?

Personal preference, watch some videos of the PA602 if you like it.
It is a nice case but there's a lot of empty space.
It's better to have a larger case than a tightly fitting one.
You want a case with good intake airflow to keep components fed with fresh air, exhaust is important too but less of a priority.
And you want the case to be big enough to house whatever video card you plan to buy, both card height and width (+ extra space for cabling room) measurements matter.
Use the case's maximum CPU cooler height measurement to estimate the maximum width of the GPU cooler.
Higher-end cases and case manufacturers disclose this measurement information on their official product specifications page.

Cases are a personal choice, watch some reviews with thermal information and check measurements for component compatibility.
There should be some good reviews for the O11s.

the price is correct at least, according to various retailers, day is apparently 24th
RT perf is 4070ti+- normal 4080. It could be on par in raster, in theory considering how they set up their CUs at amd.
I'm ready to be disappointed yet again, but fingers crossed.
on the other hand blackwell is +20% perf for 30% more power but quadruple frame gen yay!
I think even normies wising up to this shit.

NVIDIA just gave some numbers to media and claimed 5080 is only 15% over 4080, so it's looking pretty terrible. AMD will probably be equally disappointing.

4080S is barely 2% better than regular 4080
Still smaller than expected performance bump from 40 series so I'm hoping 15% is a lower bound and upper bound is closer to 20% depending on the game
It's still >2x performance for me coming from a 3070 which was my threshold for upgrading

That FarCry 6 benchmark they gave (without DLSS) showed a 30% improvement over the 4080. I'm also hoping it at least averages out to 20% but it's probably 15% average with a handful of outliers up to 30%.

What is a good fan controller (for a linux machine if that matters)?
I have 6 Arctic p14 max and the Arctic Freezer III 420 AIO in RGB.
I'm planning on replacing the RGB fans on the AIO with p14 max, and moving two of those rgb fans to the top of my case, and along with the cpu pump gives a bit of rgb lighting - is there a device that won't catch on fire? I keep reading reviews of devices that just dont work or catch on fire on Newegg/Amazon
