unreal is an engine based on c++ giving it a lot of potential compared to other engines for both 2D and 3D projects. you are not limited to the features and functions packaged with unreal, devs are able to implement their own sollutions, meaning that the engine has huge potential, and it being built on c++ as its code based means the project will be performant compared to what can be achieved with other engines like unity. the fact that not all devs take full advantage of the engine's potential does not detract from the quality of the engine, it is up to the dev in how they use it, and if they are too incompetent to produce anything of quality, that is the problem of the dev - no engine will change that outcome.
