Requesting input from /pcbg/ anons. I'm doing some changes to my workstation and I'm planning to use the iGPU. How will Vega 8 (Ryzen 7 5700G) handle programming workloads with dual 1440p@75Hz?
>OS: Ubuntu Loonix
>Workloads: Browser automation (al lot), VM's
>Tools: VScode, Netbeans, Intellij

I'm concerned that the iGPU won't be able to keep up with so many stuff I'm planning to do

I play heavily modded MC and it brings my 3900X to its' knees, so I want to upgrade. What's the best performing setup I can get for modded MC? Budget is $2k for CPU, mobo, and RAM. I already have a case, PSU, GPU, fans, and drives. Located in the US of A.

This is probably more of a >>>/g/dpt question
If you're actually addressing the CUs, the iGP is pretty weak. If you're not, it'll be fine

>>103974407
Run some hardware monitoring and see how the cores are being loaded.
99% chance it's single threaded
If so the 9800X3D is probably the best option, although if the cache ends up not mattering and single core is the only consideration, one of the 14th gen Intel chips will be the best option if you want to risk the degradation issues not being fixed

>If you're actually addressing the CUs, the iGP is pretty weak. If you're not, it'll be fine
This is just for desktop rendering. Funny that you mention addressing CU's since the reason why I'm opting for iGPU rendering is that I'll be leveraging a RTX 3060 for programming (running headless)

Bought a used GPU on ebay and it stinks of cigarette smoke. I've cleaned it as thoroughly as possible, scrubbing with IPA to remove tar stains and even repasted and replaced pads. That helped a bit but it still stinks. I don't want to put this in my main rig.

Tempted to ask the seller if they'll voluntarily take a return and then consider an INAD if they don't. Would that be reasonable of me? I don't want to fuck them over, I did get it cheap, but I feel like a smoke smell should have been disclosed.

Alternatively, any tips for getting rid of the smell if I've already spent hours deep cleaning the fuckin thing?

Do all colors must have same clipping size? For correct balance?

When you add some saturation the 235-255 colors will start to clip on the sceen, my screen on default neutral color starting to clip first on red and blue, green is not saturated and clipped.
But what about cyan, magenta, yellow? It all should be same? And also same as RGB?

I'm a small streamer, I get about 100 viewers per stream and create short animations. So I use both DaVinci Resolve and OBS for my encoding and editing needs. Gaming wise it can be pretty much anything. I also draw on stream.
So about >Video(20%)/Stream(50%)/Gaming(30%)

Might be a candidate for a 7950X3D if you can justify the additional money over a 7800X3D. Use Process Lasso to bind games to the X3D CCD.
Otherwise, nothing else really compares to the X3D chips (in games) and the 9950X3D isn't supposed to release until March which will be affected by tariffs

I can't describe the visual symptoms further than "snow" (as in the snow you'd see on old TVs when the antenna was broken) lightly dissipated across the screen (screen is still visible somewhat) or visual glitches with parts of the images on screen jumping around.

You still need a newer kernel with the updated AMDGPU driver and the proprietary blobs for the new hardware. Brand new AMD GPUs don't work too well on Linux, you should wait a few months before getting one (AMD will probably get retarded with the pricing at first and end up forced to discount them anyway).
RADV is just the Vulkan layer, it works on top of AMDGPU. Its proprietary alternative is AMDVLK.

Only adapters with multiple nvme slots would be full x16? But then my board needs to support bifurcation for the pcie adapter to work at all? Even if only one nvme drive is plugged in?

That said I just want to really run one nvme on it, so for the moment I think I will refrain from buying a multi-slot adapter. My choices are 10Gtek or GLOTRENDS PA09-HS or a chenyang and maybe something else. The last one is pic related and claims to be x16. Seems the most suspicious.

An adapter made for bifurcation is just a bunch of lanes running straight from the PCIe x16 connector to the M.2 slots so it should still work if only the leftmost slot is populated (your mobo will just see a single PCIe x4 device).

MSI didn't spend 9 months and development costs to create a cheat that can't pass the very basic VESA-compliant HDR benchmarks.
The time MSI already invested into this adjustment (+factory recalibration on all new monitors) practically guarantees improved firmware in the future.
MSI is still months ahead of the rest regarding this issue associated HDR Peak 1000, including Samsung Electronics.

Yeah, they're in there. I did some more testing since then and that doesn't seem to be the problem. It's looking more like a dead DIMM? I tried these configurations with sticks labelled 1- and 2- and RAM slots A1, A2, B1, B2:

WORKING (Boots to BIOS reliably):
1-A2
1-B2

WORKED (but also didn't work other times)
2-B1, 1-B2

DOES SOMETHING (Red light + flashing orange light, but no boot)
1-A1
1-B1

NOT WORKING: (Red light only)
2-A1
2-A2
2-B1
2-B2
2-A1, 1-B2
2-A2, 1-B2

The RAM is brand new Trident Z5 Neo, is DOA RAM common/likely?

Cards are made that are now worth less than what they cost.
Holding off until reviews is the last cope.

I doubt that, everything points out to RDNA 4 being cheap to manufacture compared to 3. They just can't bite the bullet and immediately price the 9070XT at ~$500 when they feel like they could squeeze more out of early adopters.

32" 4K monitors are too big for my needs, and even a 4070 Ti's capabilities are overkill for the games I play.
Bought the 4080 Super because I like the FE design.
4K 27" OLED monitors aren't even in stores yet, this monitor is good enough until MAX OLEDs are out.
Now post your hardware or I'll accept your concession.

Is there more I could read about this? I thought one of the benefits of the chiplet design was lower cost (smaller components means any defect on a wafer has a smaller impact). Since RDNA4 abandoned the chiplet design, I thought it would be more expensive.

I thought there'd be more to read about this, given how much they're discussed in these threads, but my own searching only returned the press release of the company making them and articles about that press release. "Here's an improved OLED technology, here are its benefits, and many screen manufacturers have signed on to start using it when it's available." I couldn't find any videos going over it, any discussions about when it might be showing up, what form it'll show up in first (TVs? Smart phones?), or anything like that.

7700 would be better, 14500 are using Alder Lake's Golden Cove P-cores.
You need a 13600K or higher to get the Raptor Cove P-cores that are worth buying.
Pic shows an OC'd 13600KF nearly matching and OC'd 14900K/S' gaming performance (both with manual memory OC applied).

Gaming monitors will get MAX OLED relatively quickly when Samsung Display can mass produce them. Samsung Display is very happy with the QD-OLED panel demand for gaming monitors.
Their latest QD-OLED panels production capacities are being prioritized for gaming monitors over Samsung Electronics' premium 83" TVs.

Not a meme for the newer CPUs that are on LGA1700 and even LGA1851 (Core Ultra 200) sockets.
But higher-end Intel motherboards use a different ILM with plastic spacers integrated to lessen the IHS deformation.

It's a meme for AM5, the thermal bottleneck with Ryzen 7000/9000 CPUs is their thicker IHS.
But delidding Ryzen CPUs isn't worth voiding the warranty for the cooling benefits on a daily system.
