About as classic as you can get for latinx comedies, this Buñuel influenced flick presents a beyond pathetic and laughable absurdist kafkaesque satire of the most epic proportions. The theme is, of course, the necrophilic state of burocracy on LATAM, and the heroic efforts that a man has to exert to be able to get something done in here. The jazzy score, the amusing dialogues, and the surrealistic landscapes of Cuba that are presented on this joint really increase the nightmarish, black comedy feeling of this film. Don't go in expecting something that's gonna dazzle you on an audiovisual level: this film is pure reality, pure absurdist LATAM reality. Essential comedy if you want to laugh with us or at us, must watch flick in the latter case (and also the former).

Magical realism baroque onanism, a boy's journey across the continent in search for his estranged father, he finds different characters of different latin nationalities that his own father met when he made the same journey in the past. It's like an epic travellogue, an odyssey, the protagonist finds new things in the both the exterior world and his own, inner world. Good camera work, some chilling scenes like when they go through the flood on the barge. It's full of not so subtle visual metaphors, voice-over narration and allegories that talk about the reignant paradigm in the 90s, that is, the zeitgeist of neoliberalism and the burden of national debt on the common populace. Includes scatological humor.
It deserves to be seen, even you don't sympathize with the director's political views, it's quite the cinematographical experience.
