Dubois' biggest weakness in his first and only fight against Usyk was that he was still too green to compete with an elite boxer. He was still showing signs of insecurity, gave Usyk too much respect, already boxing as if he can't outbox him, and relied too much on a knocking-out-to-win mentality. However, that fight showed that Dubois has a better reaction time and concentration, and that he has the mental edge to win a chess battle against the aging Usyk. Don't let Dubois' demeanor fool you into thinking that he is not a smart boxer; his defense is underrated, and that's how he made AJ looked too easy. Now, I think Usyk knew that Dubois had realized his potential to outbox him. Usyk was not even Dubois' hardest fight, it was against Hrgovic.

>he was still too green to compete with an elite boxer
But at the same time, Dubois' loss against Usyk was the catalyst that would turn him into an elite-level boxer. Dubois needed that fight, and it was the right decision to fight Usyk, win or loss.

Something I've always wondered is if Mike Tyson could've had a proper second wind if he took boxing seriously. He had moments in that 95-2002 period that showed his power was still there and his legs weren't shot yet. I think he could've picked up an upset title victory if guys like Brewester could rock Klitschko. He was such a freak athlete that if he stayed motivated he could've been a gatekeeper in the late 2000s when the division was just awful.

Usyk is clearly doping. He also clears sniffs something from his cross between each round, especially halfway through. He is absolutely knackered on the 6th then full of energy on the 7th. So since Moses Itauma looks like he’s going to be the future of the Heavyweight division who do we think gives him the most problems? I think he runs through everyone except Dubois and Bakole, they’ve both got a lot of durability, boxing skills and punching power. I think Fabio Wardley could be a tough fight as well. Who should his next fight be that is a good step up from Demsey Mckean but not too overwhelming? Will he be the youngest Heavyweight champ ever?

Tyson? Robbed.
Allen? Robbed.
Bill I Am? Robbed.

I have some bad news lads. Little John has been expelled from school. After the fight I had to take some time for myself to gather my thoughts when he came up to me and asked me, dad, why didn't Tyson win? So I had the difficult task of explaining to him that the good guy doesn't always win. Sometimes they rig the results so the bad guy wins undeservedly. He's a smart lad so he understood. But now all of a sudden we got a letter from his school telling us that he's been expelled because he called the Saudi's Fraudi's. Which is ludicrous, this is a free country and you have the right to express yourself any way you want. So I went over there and told them that John's a smart lad who thinks for himself and that they have no right to stifle his creative mind. Sadly we couldn't come to an agreement for him to return to school. But here comes the craziest part. When I told me missus she blamed me for everything, saying how it was my fault for telling him that Tyson's been robbed and how the Saudi's and Ukrainians rigged everything. She even said that Tyson lost, which triggered a fight or flight response, after which I gave her a quick 1 2. I counted her out and brought little John to bed but now she wants a divorce all of a sudden.

Nyika is an Olympian who boxes like an aggressive Usyk and boasts a 100% KO ratio. He is the type of boxer who likes to block and parry, sapping his opponents' energy. He enjoys rough fights while remaining defensively responsible. Additionally, he has a reach advantage against Opetaia, which I believe will play a major role in their fight.

I watched Nyika and Jai face off on DAZN the other day. Nyika emphasized his deep respect for Jai, suggesting that their fight will be a mature battle of mental attrition. Both fighters are likely unwilling to compromise their defense, knowing each other's strengths and weaknesses from past sparring sessions. While Jai probably has the edge in those sparring sessions, Nyika is likely more prepared for this fight.

>>146550370
Nyika has significantly better offensive variety than Opetaia and likely better timing as well. I think Jai would find himself at a disadvantage if he attempts to slow down the pace, as he usually does, against Nyika. There's a hint in their face-off that Jai is underestimating Nyika, believing too much in his own professional experience and relying on his usual game plan just because it has been successful in the past.
Anonymous 01/07/25(Tue)07:41:01 No.146551316
I think the Jai vs. Nyika fight would be similar to the Madrimov vs. Crawford fight, where Crawford was shaken by Madrimov's unexpected skills. However, like that fight, Jai vs. Nyika would likely be a close one as well.

In front of me, stood might Tyson Fury with a powerful body
He asked me for the time
I asked if he'd teach my bairns, for a six sum number and a pint with me tomorrow at nine

Did he decline? No
Didn't he mind? I don't think so
Was it for real? Damn sure
What was the deal? A fighting man aged thirty-four
So was he keen? He couldn't wait
The Gypsy King? Let me update
What did he say? He said he'd love to rendezvous
He asked me what we were gonna do
Said we'd start with a bottle of Moët for two

Monday
Took him for a drink on Tuesday
We were having bants by Wednesday
And on Thursday and Friday and Saturday
We chilled on Sunday

I think Beterbiev's coach was detrimental to the fight against Bivol in the first fight. He kept giving the same bad advice that didn't work throughout the early rounds. Beterbiev could have knocked down Bivol already if he had just fought with his usual mentality. Bivol is an emotional boxer, just like Artur's previous opponents; he is not a robotic fighter, as DAZN portrays him to be.

The only thing keeping me afloat during these dark days post Fury is the thought of Britain.

Beterbiev's message to Bivol: "Be prepared".
On the other hand, high horse Bivol refused to send a message to Beterbiev, saying that it was a job for postmen.

With that said, at age 40, Pacquiao rattled a prime Thurman from the very first round.

True, I probably have Beterbiev winning but they’re both very good despite Bivols lack of power. I could see Beterbiev retiring if he wins again

Close your eyes, give me your hand, Tyson
Do you feel my heart beating?
Do you understand? Do you feel the same?
Am I only dreaming?
Is this Fury an eternal King?

I believe it's meant to be, Tyson
I watch you when you are boxing
You belong as King
Do you feel the same? Am I only dreaming?
Or is this gyspy (gypsy) an eternal King?

Reality show status? Probably cancelled but they should really get some footage of the legendary bender that he has certainly already begun

I wish I was in the land of boxing,
Old times they are not forgotten;
Look away! Look away! Look away! Morecambe land.
In Morecambe Land where I was born,
Early on one frosty mornin,
Look away! Look away! Look away! Morecambe Land.
Then I wish I was in Morecambe, hooray! hooray!
In Morecambe Land I’ll take my stand to live and die in Morecambe,
Away, away, away up North in Morecambe,
Away, away, away up North in Morecambe.

They were the finest boxers
Left the wind behind
Fighting men
Ha, hu, ha...
And one man led the way
The others followed by:
Frank Warren
Ha, hu, ha...

Championed across mountains and desert-sands
They carried exaltation throughout the land
And nothing there could stop them in this world
Hu, ha...

Frank... Frank... Frank Warren
Hey, rider; ho, rider; go, rider
Let us follow
Frank... Frank... Frank Warren
Hey, Father; ho, Father; hey, Father
Hear us holler

Could we have another boxing general besides /box/? It would be interesting to have another very slow-moving thread similar to this one.

I propose creating a general channel called /punch/ where we can discuss various combat sports and athletes dedicated to the art of pugilism, without limiting ourselves solely to professional boxing. A punch is a striking blow with the fist.

I want a general dedicated to effortposting, deep dives into specific topics, and strongly opinionated takes. /heem/ is too disorganized for that, and /box/ is too cautious. I want more than just boxing schedules and news from Boxingscene.
