My laptop is not the same after 5 years of use. It got a bit slower, not extremely but I've noticed it. Why did this happen?

What exactly happens? Do circuits get destroyed or something? Why doesn't it happen to desktop computers?

I read somewhere that like 40% of CPU transistors get burnt in the first 6 months of usage and the rest pick up the slack. I don't think they completely get destroyed but they become really inefficient and some actually die.

Not a single manufacturer knows how to build a laptop. the closest are Lenovo and Apple. but they're both shit compared what they could actually make.

I think the M1 Max is the closest I've ever seen to a laptop being as much as I ever need, but macOS is so underbaked and unloved that it gets in the way of using the fucking laptop.

MacOS would've beem a godsent if Apple open sourced the userland. they could keep their GUI.

I replaced the keyboard of my old ideapad 320 yesterday. Very annoying repair, I still think people overcharge for it but now that I done it myself I kind of see why they charge as much as they do...
Next up would be the battery (it has 55% capacity), but the notebook itself doesn't fit on my bag so I suppose I won't rush to fix that, most of the time I have access to an wall outlet anyway.

Only Thinkpads come with matte screens? Plenty of options but they all have glossy screens.

Need something that can take a beating and is thinkpad levels cheap. Not for me, for a semi-truck mechanic family member so it gotta be able to run Win10 for diagnostic software. Or should I just give him a cheap thinkpad and keep replacing them when they break

Hello I'd just like to remind everyone to be wary of "aluminum" laptops that are actually all plastic on the inside. Yes the hinge attaches to plastic and will crack over time.
Either get a midrange plastic body laptop or spend on full magnesium or aluminum. Don't cheap out.
