Why not literally just run it in powershell like they tell you to? Why the unnecessary step of creating a file and saving it then running it?
Why are the OPs so retarded?
Also you should never run this command copied from here, you should always go on their github to make sure the command is using the right URL since a malicious Anon could post a fake one that installs malware on your machine

Any precautions I should take when going online with XP over 10 years later? I'm expecting to plug in with my cellular modem or through my router that uses it. I'm assuming the Pro SP3 iso hosted by massgrave isn't including any updates/drivers/patches/etc?
I dunno if any AVs still support it either, got an old Kaspersky CD but that's all. Most I can do I guess is block all ports in the firewall before letting a few remain open if I wanna be pedantic.

For connecting to the modern net from XP there's the MyPal browser which is based on Firefox ESR (at least the beta version is.)
https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/mypal.html
Beccause of it being based on Firefox ESR you'd most likely to be able to use UBO properly as well, so that's a lot of virusy weight off the shoulders.

HP really didn't mess around with the replacement parts I guess. This machine looks hilariously overspecced for XP yet hilariously underspecced for Vista as it is. Though if I spend like 30-40$ on upgrading the CPU from a Celeron M 430 to a C2D T7600 and plop in 4GB of memory I might be able to run Vista assuming the iGPU is powerful enough and that the CPU isn't soldered on this machine.

After I get to the desktop for the first time I plug in my tool USB and start running things like ShutUp10 before it's been able to go online. I also install the WLAN/LAN drivers for the specific mobo/OEM and then go online to update to the latest cumulative package, then I go to safe mode and run DDU on the driver that WU installed, then use NVCleanstall to install a fresh and lean NVIDIA driver. Then after that's all settled I run MAS to activate it and then get to installing my general programs like Firefox/7zip/Steam/mpv etc. and shit like VCRedist/,NET.

The IoT LTSC links on massgrave, like all the ISOs, are genuine media.
There should be no reason that MAS doesn't activate it.

Stick with the Home edition or w/e it is from the Microsoft site, the other links here don't matter much to many. As for the activation part only you can use the massgrav download or activate yourself if you know how to (do the 30 day auto reset method) that way you won't be catious of any of these links.

Not sure how they did it but I think it's ad banners on MSN.com which is the Internet Explorer's home page being somehow infected

I might have fucked up lads, I just realized the XP SP3 Pro VL ISO that I'm installing (the one from massgrave) and that setup is now copying files to may not have the SATA drivers on it.
Dunno if I can just open the ISO in 7z, copy the OEM folders into it, and re-burn it to the DVD and reinstall after it bluescreens, or if I need special software to create the image first.

People used their Desktop way more back then. They would put shortcuts to folders and even use the taskbar to put important things they use often.
At worst you could install some command line scripts and rely on that as a search (fzf), I never really used anything like that back in the day. I remember XP's search actually working really well believe it or not.

So I have an elitebook x360 running win11, and if it hibernates with the screen folded back, when I boot it back up again the screen rotation lock is greyed out if I'm using it normally, but the display is often still sideways or upside down with no way to change it (without folding the screen back, turning the lock off, and folding it again)
I'd really rather not have to do that, is there any way to make this button usable in regular laptop mode (or an easy way to rotate it back without unlocking)?

Yeah maybe I didn't explain it very well. When it starts back up the screen is still however I had it last, but because it's not in tablet mode it won't let me fix it easily.
I'm guessing it's because they assume you won't ever want to rotate the screen in laptop mode, ignoring the possibility that the rotation might not actually be correct. It seems like it's a windows thing and not limited to hp
The ctrl-alt- arrow key hotkeys also don't work for me for some reason

That shortcut doesn't do anything unfortunately. I've enabled shortcuts in the intel settings but it only shows this one (which does work). There's no rotation option in the intel display settings at all
I had a look in the windows display settings and that does allow me to change it back so maybe I just have to do that and deal with the annoyance. I'm just surprised this is an issue since it seems to affect the surface as well

This is probably a stupid question, but:
I was previously told that newer AMD processors could have issues running Windows 10 due to compatibility with the 3d Cache, but then another user lower in the chain said it only impacted the 7900x3d and 7950x3d due to them being high power and needing to CCD dies, and that it wasn't an issue with 8 core chips and below which were unified
I'm not sure if the 9800x3d was a thing at the time, so would that also be safe with W10, or does it have enough power or CCD dies to also potentially have a problem?

Open the setup command prompt with Shift+F10 and run diskpart. Select the disk you want to install Windows to with "select disk x" with the x replaced by the drive number from the list, and then run "clean." Wait for it to finish, then close out of the prompt and refresh the list. Reselect the drive you want to install to and then it should install completely fine.

You can't install Windows to a portable drive through the setup, even if it's a SATA enclosed USB drive. You'd need to use Rufus's Windows To Go functionality to install Windows instead to it.

Like with other LTSCs you can just get an IoT LTSC 2024 ISO, mount it and run the setup.exe to in-place upgrade. Just select to not update during setup.

My IoT LTSC install updated itself while I was asleep and now everything is fucked QQ
Sfc says it found corrupt files and couldn't fix them and dism can't find source files
The biggest issue really is that the store and terminal apps fucked themselves and now I can't launch my headphone EQ program because of a dll bad image error (which is why I tried the above things)

Ehh, please help me out to keep up Windows support for my fathers computers.
What Windows to install on unsupported hardware that has a Windows 10 license and is supposed to receive updates after October 2025 and run Adobe Photoshop?
Has IoT GPU support like non-IoT?
Can the legal Win10 license be used to legally activate Win11 despite that Win11 is a fresh installation by means of Rufus, not the Windows- In-Place Upgrade path?
Can HWID2 retrieve a legal licence with the legal Win10 license? If yes, how?
Can HWID2 just retrieve a license for an inactivated Windows, by that activate the windows and trough the permanent license have further installations of said Windows be auto activated?

I only figured this out just after having submitted the post: Is it sufficient to simply enter the underlying key upon that the hardware has received upgrade-digital-only licenses, i.e. for an active Win10 license, enter the key of the underlying Windows 10/8/7 that was used to activate 10, just also for Win11?
Sorry, I feel brain dead reading into this. I'll try things out if you guys don't feel like spoon-feeding me. Thanks anyway!

This is the kind of thing where you should've had a HirenBootCD USB handy so you could just extract all the folders from the \system32\DriverStore\FileRepository folder from the OEM install of Windows that came with the Thinkpad and direct Device Manager to it in the IoT LTSC 2021 install. And I'd say because the laptop itself is probably 11 focused that it wouldn't be able to find any drivers compatible with 10.

If you're installing it fresh you can just direct the setup to unallocated space and it'll format/partition it for you.
If you're in an online install you can just right click on the drive in Explorer and select Format, or you can use the command line tool diskpart to clean, re-partition and re-format the drive as well.

I just updated from 10 to 11. I did it through the "sanctioned" route of simply installing 11 from Windows Update, hoping it would give me the option to start from a clean slate (delete all apps and files), but it didn't. So I went through with the upgrade, got to know 11 for a couple hours, and then went ahead and did a full reset via Settings -> System -> Recovery -> Reset PC -> Keep Nothing.
>next paragraph
However, before that, I noticed 11 had a "widgets" thing in the lower left corner. Yet after the reset, Widgets is entirely missing from the entire fucking operating system. It's not on the taskbar, the win+w shortcut doesn't bring it up, and its setting isn't even there in the taskbar settings. Picrelated, normally there should be a setting to show/hide it along with the Search and Task View options.
>next paragraph
I know this is a semi-known google-able problem, and the most likely solution is to reinstall widgets via some command line shit. I'm honestly not even interested in widgets and would have disabled it anyway, but my question is, how the FUCK does something like this even happen? Now all I can think is, what other aspects of the OS got fucked up or garbled or lost during installation? Should I play it safe and reinstall the whole thing again? Hesitant to load all my files and shit since I have the sense the OS itself got inexplicably fucked during installation.

Hey everyone! Recently, I ran into this problem: I got a prompt to upgrade to Windows 11, but I’m perfectly happy with Windows 10. I accidentally clicked something, and now here’s the situation (see pic). The thing is, I’ve only paused the update, but I have no idea how to delete the Windows 11 installation files. I couldn’t find a single guide online (maybe I’m just dumb), and the AI is giving me useless advice. I need help…

And I'm still getting a Code 43. Am I missing something or am I getting AMD'd? Maybe someone itt with a 6000 series gpu already tried this? AM5 platform if that matters.

GPU passthrough requires two physical GPU.
Your host PC has to be temporarily using iGPU if you want to use dGPU on your VM.

I'm sorry for being a retard, but can someone tell me how I can get the official Microsoft extensions from VSCode onto VSCodium? I tried adding the following block of code to my user settings .json but this does not seem to work:
"extensions.gallery": {
"serviceUrl": "https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/_apis/public/gallery",
"cacheUrl": "https://vscode.blob.core.windows.net/gallery/index",
"itemUrl": "https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items"
}
