>How do I activate Windows?
github.com/massgravel/Microsoft-Activation-Scripts
HWID2 mimics a valid Windows installation to generate a permanent legitimate license on MS's activation servers
Usage: paste into Notepad, save as .ps1, run
>and Office?
Same method, use Ohook
You can also use Office.com if your needs are very minimal
or try OnlyOffice/LibreOffice and set it to save in MSOffice file formats

Explain to me why I shouldn't just run linux, cut internet to the host and enable internet only my VMs, passthrough my gpu, install windows 11 and use it as is? What stops me from buying a 32 core ryzen cpu, a 4090 and shoving 128 GB RAM in there and calling it a day?

privacy.sexy users (and perhaps others too), how did you handle connectivity checks (under os data collection) and windows defender and updates (under privacy over security)? Did you just leave them on the default strict settings? These three are basically the only ones which I'm not too sure how to set. But hopefully this will give me a system with only extremely basic automatic connections that only work for good functioning and not for purposeful data collection. I guess I can verify it with some tool like simplewall maybe?

Yes and no
I've personally never had any problem with them but I can understand how some things changing can fuck up some people's setups. Some people don't want to restart their computers and have a few things be different because of an update
This is why you'll often see Anons talking about IoT LTSC: No feature updates so you're 100% sure everything will always work the same, but you still get security updates

Anons I've fucked up.
I messed up my distro and I'm moving from lonix back to bimblows, Is IoT 2019 just "good enough" for compatibility? what about bloat? should i run a debloating script, even in IoT?
I'm using a weak and low on resources work computer and need to use it hassle free for around a week before i can spend time to move back to linux
do i need to install any kind of driver to run blender in IoT? or will it run ootb?
thanks for any answer beforehand

LTSC 2019 is based on the 1809 feature pack with a majority of current programs having that pack as the oldest that can still run them. Though honestly I think you'd be just fine using IoT LTSC 2021 instead which is based on 21H2 which way more programs will run just fine on. You can just disable all the animations/transparency and you should be fine on that front, then just run a tool like ShutUp10 to auto-set a bunch of registry entries that make Windows 10 much more respecting of you as a user IE not constantly running telemetry etc. It would be safe to install a graphics driver for whatever card you have, though Windows Update will install one for you alongside any other drivers it can find when it runs the first time among the latest cumulative update.

pretty much everything will work on IoT, it's not bloated but use ShutUp10 anyway to disable telemetry shit, Windows installs drivers automatically but you might want to use NvCleanstall or whatever its AMD equivalent is

The activator in the OP makes it very quick and painless (though you don't need to run it as a .ps1 as the OP says for whatever reason, just run the code directly in an admin powershell window.)

Running ShutUp10's recommended settings is a good first step.
Then you could disable C:\ drive search indexing and disable the Windows Search service itself and replace it with Everything Search+EverythingToolbar. Dunno what Photos is doing though.

If I create a Windows 11 installation USB drive today using the installation media creation tool, does anyone know if it will be 24H2? Looking to install onto a brand new SSD and ideally I would like to install 24H2 off the bat, rather than installing the older version and letting it update to 24H2, since that would essentially be installing the OS twice.

GPO -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Data Collection and Preview Builds -> Allow Diagnostic Data
Enable it and select "Diagnostic Data Off (Not Recommended)"
No, updates won't add spyware nor bloatware. LTSC version doesn't have feature updates. Yes you need the security updates, don't disable them. You want any OS you use to be up to date.

Given that ltsc iot is a separate install and only accepts specific keys it's highly unlikely you have anything else installed.
Unless you used some custom iso I guess.

People say a Regedit trick can be used to prevent Windows11 from auto downloading and installing. Two commands to add them are:
>reg add HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate /v TargetReleaseversion /t REG_DWORD /d 1
>reg add HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate /v TargetReleaseversionInfo /t REG_SZ /d 22H2
But hold on
>TargetReleaseversion
>TargetReleaseversionInfo
Shouldn't the 'v' be capitalized to be "TargetReleaseVersion"?
Any anons use this trick and know if the capitalization matters here?

At this point you'd have to shut down services, and Windows has a self-healing service that makes sure that certain services are up all the time. I'm not aware of many privacy tools that neurer waasassessment.dll, waasmedicagent.exe, waasmediccapsule.dll, waasmedicps.dll, and waasmedicsvc.dll over in System32, but the best way I've found to deal with these is to copy NUL into them and then set the NTFS.RO flag for the file. That's been working for several years now.

It probably is mostly just cope, seeing as they're very afraid of their system phoning home, but don't care at all about their systems writing logs on their storage media. The system still keeps track of recently opened directories, still keeps track of all programs being launched, still keeps track of archives being decompressed - and all it takes is one connection and one major upload to send off all that data.

I have a 1TB 870 Evo that's pretty fast, would it be a bad idea to install Windows 11 on this or is an NVMe needed for good performance?
I don't know how bloated Win11 is.
The SATA drive works fine for other systems.

It'll run totally fine on a SATA SSD, like any modern OS.

sup bros,
i just swapped out a new mobo. i know that usually that means you should format, but it was just going from gigabyte x870e to an asrock x870e taichi since i could finally get my hands on one. everything is working except one thing so far... which is the 4chan script, crazy enough. i tried reinstalling the browser to no avail (not that i cleaned it out or anything). as you can see, all the most recent posts just say 0 seconds ago, and it never changes
any ideas for quick fix?

Manually syncing the Windows clock is something I always do on new installs or with drastic part changes like that.

Sorry that I'm computer illiterate.
If I download it on the MS website, do I need to crack it after with the activation script in the OP?

No there's not need to crack anything. Just download the ISO, flash it to a USB with Rufus, set it to not require an MS account and to bypass the 11 requirements, install it, then when you're done you can run the MAS script to activate your system via MS's HWID activation servers. Also make sure to use the Education edition during setup if you're gonna use an MS website ISO.
