Thinking of getting a b580 board, ram, and a 9800x3d now. I'm planning on doing a build for when Nvidia releases the 5080super/ti which I'm assuming is going to have 20-24gb ram.
I'm thinking of just getting the cpu now since it's not likely anything new will come out by then.

I had somehting similar happen to a 980 back in the day. Something caused my PC to shut down playing a game, and after checking it out I turned it back on with the side open and the power socket caught fire.
Never found out if it was the GPU faulting and ruining the PSU that protected the rest of the PC, or the PSU dying and killing the GPU. But I got a warranty replacement.

Probably a failed vrm component like failed power stage or failed voltage regulator on the gpu which shorted. Then the psu shut down the system after detecting the short to protect it.

Don't leave out the 7600/X, it's still a respectable budget/mid-range gaming option for AM5.
Especially at around $200 for the 7600X.

For escaping from your PC's real gaming performance, maybe.
Time Spy benchmark results aren't representative of real game performance, especially in 2025.
Time Spy says the Arc A770 is a better gaming card than the RTX 3060Ti or the 3070.

The 285K is probably expensive to manufacture, it uses a couple of TSMC chip tiles including a 3nm tile for the CPU cores.
Intel might be ordering just enough to guarantee supply commitments to OEM and some extra to keep boxed CPU retailers and AIB partners happy.

What is Anti Aliasing DLSS?
I play the Witcher 3 and when I use it, I get very good fps at 2K.
Without it, even at High/some Ultra they drop a lot.
I thought DLSS had to do with resolution, how does it work for Aliasing?

There must be some upscaling going on if you're getting better performance with DLSS enabled.
DLAA (Deep Learning AA) usually has a performance penalty compared to native/TAA.

>Time spy is a RAM benchmark.
Not that simple, modern cards are CPU bottlenecked when running Time Spy. This is confirmed by the creators of the test (UL).
Memory tuning helps alleviate the CPU bottleneck, but that is only part of the story.
>Running at a native 4k resolution, it [Steel Nomad] improves upon Time Spy with more modern implementations of graphics technologies and is roughly three times heavier for your PC than Time Spy, and almost seven times heavier than Fire Strike.
>You can see this is not reflected in the data from a high-end GPU from 2024, as CPU bottlenecking is negatively impacting frame times in Fire Strike and Time Spy.

AGESA 1.2.0.2b doesn't reduce latency, it's the added parameters that do.
It can be named Core Tuning, Zen 5 Optimisations for Gaming or Latency Killer, all do the same thing and will reduce AIDA reported latency by about 5ns.
It may, or may not perform better with one setting or the other depending on games/applications and what you're running (gear, timings, FCLK etc).
>>103912986
EXPO 6000MT/s is ~69ns on a 9800X3D chip, and it generally caps out at ~56ns with a maxed out OC.
You don't need to push low CL (the only thing that requires high VDD) for sub-60ns, just having a truly stable tuning and IMC will do the job.

Corsair stopped paying for 80+ certifications on new PSUs because Cybenetics certification is more thorough.

fucking retards looking at GPU cost in isolation when anon would need an entirely new PC going from AM4 to AM5
An extra $250 going from 5070 Ti to 5080 might be better value if the total system cost is already high before GPU (which it is if doing a 9800X3D build)
An extra $1000 going from 5080 to 5090 still might not be worth it even if you'll get 40% extra performance from the GPU. Probably at best equal price-to-performance with the 5080.

I feel like a retard. I boughted a 9800x3d, x870 msi board and some new ram (corsair CMK64GX5M2B6000Z30). put all of it together and I'm getting weird issues I've never had problems with before.
I'm at wit's end by this point.
under the original bios, EXPO was stable and everything worked. But I wasn't getting as much cpu performance as I wanted, and the boot times were CRAZY long. like 2-3 mins to post.
I see on MSI's website that their bios updates fix some of this stuff, so I take a gamble and I download the new bios.
Everything works great for a night. No crashes, smooth sailing.
I decide to turn on memory context restore to see if I can decrease the long boot times, and voila it works. Now it boots fast. except the system becomes unstable with MCR on. So I turn that off and realize that Expo turned itself off when I did the bios update.
so on bios 1
>stable memory
>fucked boot times
bios 2
>boot times fine
>unstable memory
I mainly seem to be having issues during non strenuous tasks. During my racing sims, everything has been great. But if I try to run balatro with discord open disc crashes and so does balatro. What the fuck?

and yes am europoor. it's crazy how much our economy is being raped. also 630 euro for a 9800X3D lmao what a scam.

nta but you really ought to look for benchmarks. From what I've seen the Dual /generally/ beats the Ventus but they're both bottom dollar MSRP cards so don't expect silence.
Also, if you're in the US the 4060 is the same price and should be preferred for a pure gaming system. The larger buffer on the 3060 makes it attractive to budget AI fags so it's held disproportionate value. Ignore this if you do want to do ML/work on it ofc.

About the same. If those are the only ones that fit within your budget or if you're going for small form factor I'd go with the cheapest, if you can afford a bit more I'd go with a proper triple fan model.
I had the AMD equivalent of the 3060 Ventus (Mech 6600 XT) and it definitely was noisy. The Dual has the same fan setup (2x100mm) and a slightly smaller radiator but the line has a better rep than Ventus.

Not really for a top end PC. X870 boards are already out, cooling is solved, and nobody is beating Hynix memory any time soon. Though I did see a 6000CL26 kit (not at CES) if you have money to burn. Maybe some interesting cases but nothing that functionally beats a Meshify 2 so more matter-of-taste than "must wait".

The problem is not your memory module if you own a Corsair DDR5 kit with a -Z30 code.
That is officially AM5 compatible with an EXPO preset.
The official product link even says -Z30 modules are AMD Expo memory modules.
Disable any/all MCR and associated settings, and set MSI Fast Boot to [Slow Training].
Enable EXPO under that clean setting, and play the games that usually crash your system.

Would lowering the voltage on my ryzen 5700x3d stop it from slightly stuttering sometimes in games and when scrolling pages? I have tried everything. Reinstalled windows, changed bios, removed cmos battery, unplugged everything, nothing weird is running in the background, all g-sync settings are correct and I even bought a new stronger PSU. I have no idea what else to do. I've never had this problem before.

Either China is getting good at repackaging or scalpers are stating to dump. How come these cheap cards on eBay are all from China? I thought they were soaking up the market because we won't give them the 50 series.
Why would anyone buy a 50 series of there are brand new 4090s to be had for <$700?

You only "need" +120fps when you are playing competitive multiplayer games.
Most console games (and PC ports) are balanced around the expectation that the player will experience the content at 30 fps, they treat 60 fps as a bonus.
30 fps sucks though.

There are "veterans" here, right?
A while ago I build my first computer, back then I installed windows on a sata ssd which is now aging, I found out I actually have 2 m.2 slots, and not just one, and want to buy a second m.2 to install windows on.
Now my question is this: I have 3 drives in total, a mass storage HDD, an m.2 for games and image editing stuff and the old boot sata-ssd.
I have no issues with losing the stuff on the sata-ss
But do I have to reinstall programs and games on the seperate drive after reinstalling windows over?
I'm guessing (hoping) the mass storage won't really care.

Most programs won't require a reinstall if you've partitioned or they're on completely separate drives but many programs keep settings files, projects or gamesaves on the windows user directories. you will probably also need to manually reinstall dot net type shit, drivers etc.
And obviously you're going to lose all the shortcuts & start menu directories.

However, I am getting audio static and hangs with low loads like watching YouTube. If I open a game or start a render at the same time the problems go away. I understand this can happen with undervolting, can I fix it by raising minimum processor state in power options?

But 5090 isn't 2x 5080 despite having twice the shading units. The gap between 1080 and 1080 Ti was 27% and the gap between 4080 and 4090 is 26%. The deltas for RTX 20 and 30 were smaller.
Why are people so caught up in specs when the product is sold based on performance numbers not what the magic smoke inside the card does to get those numbers.
Vega 64 was a massive die not only bigger than 1080 Ti but bigger than the full GP102 and had HBM but performed similar to vanilla 1080 so it was sold at 1080's price.

I am actually not really worried about efficiency at low loads like daily usage. I am actually running separate profiles for battery and plugged, battery has boosts disabled and power limits reduced. My issue with the laptop was that it thermal throttled like a bitch when fully loaded and couldn't hold a boost. Undervolting fixed it. I am just trying to make it stable at low loads now.
Maybe I should disable the frequency step down entirely. Would setting minimum processor state to 100% so it?

2080 Ti is the only card that was justifiably expensive because it had a monstrous 754 mm2 so I get where the $1000 came from. Nvidia selling 380 mm2 die twice in a row for 4080 and 5080 for $1000 is criminal.

How is user experience garbage? It's virtually the same. Are you so tech illiterate you can't run a powershell script to restore classic right click and change a few GPO settings?

AMD has even lower driver overhead than nvidia which is why it was meta in 2021-2022 to run 6900 XT and 12900K for esport autism and high refresh rate no RT.

The 2070 can run Rebirth at 60 fps on 1080p, does that mean the 6600 will achieve similar performance? Please give me some hope.

Intel in two generations fell into the same space that AMD had in 3 decades.
The reviewers and users only want them to mildly succeed so they can buy a cheaper Nvidia card, no one is seriously considering buying Intel just like no one is seriously considering buying AMD.

>u12a over d15
you don't have any clearance issue with that case

unless you are using a xx90 gpu that psu is overkill

Im building a second computer to host my work's programming tasks remotely. It'll be using windows, but also some docker stuff sometimes, and overall multitask programming tasks. I have a rtx 2080 I can put into it, so the gpu is covered. I guess I need what, 32/ 64 GB of ram, a middle cpu since Im not gaming, and a mid sized case. No gaming.

Your PSU and RAM look too poor compared to other components, get 64GB of RAM and a 1600W PSU at least.

I don’t understand your decision to pick a white motherboard if you’re not color coordinating your system.
A TeamGroup 6000MT/s CL30 2x16GB Hynix A die kit is a better choice since not all 9800X3Ds will have an IMC capable of running 1:1 UCLK to MEMCLK.
80+ Platinum PSUs are overrated considering high end Gold units nearly match their overall efficiency.

Maybe check out the price of a Ryzen 7900/X, they are discounted below $300 from time to time.
It’s probably the best productivity CPU value and efficiency wise.

if that makes your boat float, go nuts. But If I were you, I would be concerned with the dust that those flowers would attract and store. other than that? Well it seems to nail the aesthetic of the room, so good job on that, I guess.
