Americans let the thread die edition

Everything is already from China, but here we discuss the cheap chink shit you see on various sites.

1st rule of /csg/: if it looks too good to be true, it probably is.

Haven't posted in a while, but just wanted to share some of the more interesting items I got over the last month
The watch looks fantastic, I can provide pics, its basically a panerai radiomir homage, the leather strap is excellent too (and apparently, made from italian leather, their source seems feasible)

the helicopter has no steering but for $4 its plenty of fun, you can only command it to go up a bit or land so its like IRL flappy bird

Any good portable speakers...that don't have much bass?

Sometimes a phone speaker can be loud enough, sometimes it isn't. It really relies on the content volume, it's really hit and miss. So I like to use a bluetooth speaker
>in the mornings when I'm getting ready for work, as I'm usually going from room to room, often with loud noises in the background (shower, kettle, microwave, fan heater, the tap running and brushy/swishy sounds in my own head as I brush my teeth and rinse)
>or at other times when I'm doing house chores, again, moving from room to room so portable is needed, and again with other loud noises in background (washing machine, dishwasher, kitchen extractor fan, occasionally vacuum cleaner) so volume is definitely needed.

The thing is though, I listen to mostly voices at these times, not music. Talk radio, or podcasts, or long form talking-based YouTube videos. Being bass heavy isn't great for talking, it makes things boomy and not clear, so then you have to turn the volume up overall louder than you want just to hear the voices clearly enough.

A few years ago I got an Anker Soundcore 2 - insanely boomy, terrible for voices.
I returned it and got an original Anker Soundcore (1). It was better so I stuck with it. It's still quite boomy, and it's old and it annoyingly charges with MicroUSB so I'm thinking of getting rid of it and getting something new.

So everything else has to be good - good loudness, good battery life, moisture/humidity resistant at least (I leave phone outside bathroom but bring speaker in with me for the shower), but really has to be on the 'thin' sounding side, so it's good for talk rather than music. Any recs?

The platform caters to pump and dump fake storefronts. Any sale helps strengthen the Chinese economy, that's why it's still accessible, even though the company is losing millions every year.

Lithium batteries are generally super safe, when handled properly. It's only when they are punctured that problems arise.

The whole Samsung Note disaster skewed the public opinion on Li in a bad way.
People don't realize that most left them charging, and put them under their pillow or some stupid shit.
If you plan to put your earbuds in the oven, maybe they will explode. If not, you'll be fine.

The fact that these are probably horrible sound quality, as well as in-ears causing permanent hearing damage, is another story though.

>The fact that these are probably horrible sound quality
They sound fine once you EQ the shit out of them, good thing my phone has a built-in equalizer that applies to wireless buds as well. They're not as good as my Crinacle Zero 2 buds but then again those are wired and cost 4 times as much at 28 euros, and even more once you factor in a non-shit replacement cable.
The quality of the charging case is absolutely dreadful, the lid on it feels like it's gonna shatter in my hand at any moment. As for comfort I've certainly had worse buds. Slim enough to be beanie compatible.
Assuming these aren't gonna turn me into Van Gogh any time soon, I'd say worthy of purchase just for being so obscenely cheap.
According to the box the actual manufacturer is Dongguan Hele Electronics also known as QCY, though who knows if even that label is real.

I know battery life may not be ideal vs one with a built-in Li timebomb but I'll be using rechargeable NiMHs so not concerned about that.

Can lithium coin cells assplode?

I needed to fill out my latest Amazon order to get free shipping. I went with chink brand LiCB instead of my go-to brand (GP) because they were half the price. But now I'm second-guessing. I've read some cases where they even catch fire out of nowhere, not in use, not in a gadget, just on their own in the packet sitting in the drawer one day (coin cells in general, not necessarily this brand, but still...chinkshit...)

I was speaking from an audiophile perspective.
Wireless monitors, whatever shape or size they come on, will always be inferior to a wired alternative. The mere fabric of our atmosphere is working against it.

You don't have to be a snob to enjoy music though, and yes I do have a pair of Bose QC35 I use for every day commute.
Headphone jacks are getting obsolete anyways.

Don't worry about your purchase Anon, I'm sure you'll find great enjoyment from them.
Just please be mindful of not playing anything too loud, or in a prolonged period of time.
While your ears may not fall off, they could likely suffer permanent damage. And I'm speaking from experience here.

Depends on the region I guess but I'm not aware of any stores that it doesn't check which also ship to my country.
>i remembered linux shilling a good deal on a laptop on ali that is why I was asking, i thought it is good for laptops as well now.
Ali is probably the worst possible way to buy a laptop, there are almost no reviews, warranty/returns are a nightmare, keyboards may not be printed in your language, windows may be the single language CN version which means you need to wipe it and reinstall windows the moment it arrives (probably not a bad idea anyway). Also often times it seems like the prices on Ali are more expensive than the official retailer since it's actually local Chinese resellers listing them and not the company themselves.
I actually looked into getting a Chinese lenovo laptop a while back and determined it was a decent idea since they got the generation of Ryzen chips I was looking for before anyone else, they also had some great models with exactly the feaures and specs I was looking for (some even included shit like an ethernet jack).
Problem is that you still have many of the issues you get buying from Ali.
A. It needs to get here and clear customs meaning you're immediately going to add on another $100-200 to the purchase price
B. Warranty/service and/or returns will be a nightmare
C. The keyboard may be in Chinese
D. Windows may be SL-Chinese
E. You're trusting that chang doesn't put a backdoor into his own products (this was specifically an issue for me since Lenovo has been caught repeatedly doing that)
F. You need to find someone actually IN China willing to purchase and forward the product to you
https://www.youtube.com/@%E4%B8%AD%E6%AD%A3%E8%AF%84%E6%B5%8B/videos
>Btw is it worth it to buy used relatively recent xeon and epyc cpus?

I got some semi chink shit stick vacuum (Buture VC50) from amazon like a year ago but it seems to keep losing sucking power, as well as sucking significantly less strong than when it was new.
Contacted them a while ago and they sent new battery but that didn't solve the issue. Contacted them again but they haven't replied in a month & the amazon listing is gone so I'm not sure wtf is going on

Guessing it's too big/heavy to be worth buying off amazon itself, even if it's just a stick vacuum, right?

Any reason you want that specific type? Due to the size the shipping costs will lower some of the money saved through arbitrage, so I'm not sure it's super worth getting that type from aliexpress.
Consider what I did, which I am super happy with: I got a used robot vacuum from my craigslist equivalent, cleaned the filter and now have a clean flat 24/7. In the rare case I need to get rid of something not on the floor (like cobwebs) I just use a broom. Make sure the robot vacuum has some form of LIDAR or equivalent or it's going to be ass.

Unfortunately I can't suggest you a good stick vacuum since I don't have one, I'd still look in your local craigslist, sometimes you find people give away very high quality brands because they can't be bothered to do the most basic of maintenance.

you can tell them you paid the advertised price and if they wish to change the price after the fact you will have to bring the situation to AliExpress support to make sure everything is correct.

if they ARE trying to scam you, they will usually back down assuming this gweilo will be enough of a pain to not bother with.
if they aren't then they'll either just send the item, eating the extra cost but dodging a failed sale on AliExpress's algorithm, or cancel the sale themselves with a legitimate reason.

never send additional payment to a china man without need, they beleive that if you fall for a scam, you deserve to get scammed, so scamming you is morally right.

im just now getting back into gaming and was really tempted to buy the official xbox controller because

All controllers since the PS4/xbone have used the same ALPS sticks so it should be equal across of them all.
>is it really as bad some make it out to be, i.e. can start within a few weeks or couple of months of normal use? that the exterior is really nice but the internals are shoddy on purpose to sell more controllers?
It 100% depends on usage, I've frequently seen people claiming it happened within 90-120 days of purchase but personally I still have mine that I've used since 2018-ish.
And when I say usage I don't mean total hours played but rather how people are using them to begin with. Drift comes from the wear on the carbon tracks but when I was repairing them it seemed like most of that wear was being caused by the little metal wipers that would occasionally break and start scratching away the carbon like a fingernail on a lottery ticket. Occasionally I would find drift on controllers where the wiper was not broken but that was significantly more uncommon.

Personally I'd suggest getting a used one that someone has refurbished with TMR sticks, you get all the advantages you're looking for (same reasons I use them) with 0 wear since they're TMR based.

Some people simply prefer rechargeables, internal also gives you advantages in terms of aesthetics and the structural feel of the controller, as well as the volume of space that the battery takes up. You could probably fit 2 full PS3 batteries in the AA compartment of the 360/xbone.

i don't know why, but i feel like if i had access to a metal work shop, i would probably jump at the chance to make those tool holders myself instead of buying them.
but then again, i assume they're heat treated and dimensionally ground flat on the toolholder side in a way that a home shop would struggle to achieve

see >>>/g/iemg for good usb-c earphones, and 3.5 converter which is properly known as a usb-c dongle (has an integrated dac & amp). if you want to use an in-line mic, only some support that function.

The apple dongle is the best bang for your buck, alternatively /csg/ has a long list of USB-C to 3.5mm dongles.
IIRC a while back the phone manufacturers couldn't decide on a standard for USB-C headphones in the first place so some of them just literally wouldn't work depending on the model of phone/earbuds.

Shadowbanning isn't a thing on 4chan and I've never seen anyone, even /pol/ or /x/ schizos present any evidence saying it is. I'm not sure how you even would shadowban on here considering most people don't use accounts and don't namefag or tripfag.
The more likely scenario is that you behave like a retard so often that people filter pictures you post frequently, your flag or ID (not possible on this board), or recognize your posts and just simply don't reply.

CHUWI will sometimes sell laptops with N100 cpu's and specs that would probably retail locally for 300$ for 200$. Buying cumputer hardware is kind of a hassle though, lots of scams and marked up e-waste in the listings.

cheap stuff arrived
>$10 SAGUD airbrush cleaning/sprayout pot
surprisingly it is made of glass and not plastic. also came with a little baggy of wire brushes, spare air filters, and some kinda steel needle tool for cleaning airbrushes
>$1 squeezy bottle with spout (250ml)
just using this for watering my potted plant, easier than pouring from a glass or water bottle since it's in an awkward spot.
>$3 reusable silicone earplugs
they fit comfortably. they claim to be 25db reduction, same as my $25 loop earplugs. it'll be nice to have a spare in case I temporarily lose one or the other

Do you actually get discounts or something other than coins when you play merge boss and the other aliexpress games? I still have 4000 coins that are not very useful
Anonymous 01/22/25(Wed)18:32:09 No.104000428
>>103999589
On Play & Earn you can earn coupons or shopping credits for going through the tasks each day. Seems to be about a dollar every 7-10 days if you keep up on it.

They rotate the other promos where you can earn credits in the individual games. The one for GoGo Match just ended yesterday and you could get $5 if you started early. Merge Boss has an exchange too but it can be a grind to even get $1.

Coins alone are most useful for spending on those promos or stacking with credits/coupons in the discount finder.

You can get stuff like $5 coupons during some of the seasonal ones. You missed the boat on the current one. only small $1 & $2.

The coin page is only good for when you want a single item over $10. Sometimes you can get decent discounts on shit in your cart, when it lets you take 20-30% off with coins, making up for the 10% mark up of the item on the coin page. For example when the moondrop headphones were popular you could order it off the coin page for ~$18 vs the regular $20-25 with coupons and sales. Its tedious though, but thats using chink sites in general.
