I want to get something to replace my ancient kindle but so far it seems like the best ones are still Amazon's.

Anyone find it ironic how the more "premium" tablet or phone feature it has the less likely it has an SD card? Yes budget electronics are more likely to have it. It's a deal breaker each time I see a tablet have no SD card like the Y700 (2024) tablet when the previous tablet had it. Then there are some other like xiaomi 6, Huawei matepad (all of them have no sd cards). Pretty much the only company that is consistently with putting sd card slot into tablet is Samsung. iPad never have SD card and Chinese company are rarely using them for the midrange or high end models.

Chang makes some good android ereaders (i have the Meebook M7 that's relatively cheap and works great), otherwise your better off getting a refurbished Kindle or Kobo. If you want replaceable batteries then Kobo is your best bet as they're usually pretty easy to take apart.

I bought a chink amp to be able to use my old active speakers that had its mobo ded.
It works well, and it has Bluetooth, which I don't care much, but I can use them with the PC off so it's ok.
The problem I have is that the noise threshold kicks in a little too late, like, it won't make any sound until half a second of noise has been playing, meaning that in conversations without any background noise or quiet movies, there will be no noise coming out.

It's the S100L, there are a few different models out there, but they are pretty much the same.

Does anyone know any way to disable/lower the threshold?

Well, data logging is not going to be cheap and easy any way, especially if you want non-volatile memory.
If you have one logging server and three sensors that's definitely going to be much cheaper than three advanced devices. Also easier to manage battery-wise, zigbee/radio/bluetooth (le or mesh) barely drain any battery and one CR2032 can live for months. Then you only need to power the hub/server/phone. And you can probably skip the storage as well, instead have it transmit data to your home for storage.

I think LYWSD03MMC is your best bet if you don't want to go full DIY.
They're bluetooth natively, can be easily reflashed into zigbee.
And there's custom firmware that has some kind of data logging if I'm not mistaken.
Most importantly, they're widely available and relatively cheap and accurate.

Completed my knock off Masterpiece Doll collection. I have all three >100cm models that I know of. I believe they're made by the manufacturer NPK, though the molds seem to be passed around so I can't pin-point one company.
The build quality on them varies; one of them had their leg fall off so I had to fix it with Sculpey, another has a hard time rotating their joints, two of them have one leg that's slightly longer than the other, etc. Despite that, I've been pretty happy with them.
It's fun to go shopping for them (children's clothes are cheaper than doll clothes), trying out new clothes and posing them around my apartment. It's soothing to tend to their hair and do maintenance on them. Even though they're well in to the uncanny valley, I've found their look charming, even considering that I have dolls that are cuter and anime-esque.
Buying them was a nice little experiment, though they're expensive no matter how you look at it. Each of them were >$300, which may not be much for certain collectors but is still a pretty penny. Only one of them I bought on AliExpress, but they're all clearly Chinese products, you can easily find them on Alibaba.

I may get some more anime life-size dolls later. TPE and Silicone seem annoying to tend to, but I've found cloth dolls to be nice. They take a long time to get shipped though, and the thread of tariffs may cause things to get worse on that front.

each fan comes with its own remote, there is 3 settings for fan speed + off, 3 levels for each light color mode + off, and maybe 4 or so color level modes (cold white, warm white + 3 mixed levels in between). the fan does not move very fast so its quiet but still moves a decent amount of air, i would say about the same as a generic plastic oscillating pedestal fan but much quieter. there is also some kind of "night mode" that dims the light and fan speed to the minimum with a single click.
