I finally started to look for a new phone to replace my aging (although still totally fine) xiaomi mi9T.
Last night at 3am.. after like 3 days of research, I decided on the Oneplus 13R cuz they are offering a free set Buds Pro3 with it right now and I needed a pair of earbuds anyways.
At the time of checkout I spontaneously decided to say fuckit and bought the 13 instead of the 13R for ~$450 more.
After sleeping on it, I realized that was maybe a crazy decision.

I've never had a proper flagship phone before, always mid range "flagship killer" phones that seem to be generally recommended by autists.

Was buying the OP13 a mistake? Should I cancel the order and get the 13R instead and save my money?

I just switched from Android with GrapheneOS to an iPhone. Honestly, I don’t miss much except for a few small things. That said, I’ve got a couple of questions from the iOS users here:

- I’m guessing I’ll need to sideload apps somehow? I found one method, but it doesn’t work with the latest iOS, and another requires connecting to a computer and refreshing the apps every 7 days. The first method handled that automatically. Is there another common method being used now? I’ve heard jailbreaking isn’t really a thing anymore, and these methods just use developer apps? (I’m in the USA, if that matters.)

Sideloading is garbo and limited to 7 days with a free account. AltStore can wirelessly refresh but needs to be running on Windows/Mac (Linux is experimental iirc) and on the same network.

Chance via TestFlight is a great option for a 4chan app, iChan also exists but is behind a Patreon iirc.

Get Delta emulator for all your Nintendo console emulation. RetroArch is also available but I've had mixed results even just playing Genesis games. Now, Delta has a patreon with access to sideload (via AltStore) a version with Sega support, but I can't be bothered to sideload anything, and I already have Yaba Sanshiro 2 for Saturn.

For App Store games if your phone came with three months of Apple Arcade REDEEM and play FF1+ or Trials of Mana+ which were just added, or Balatro+ which is fun.

Yeah, that's how it is. Your computer needs to be running for you to be able to refresh apps or install new ones. iPhones not being able to do it themselves offers zero security benefit to anyone; Apple only does it because they don't want you installing apps on their device they do not benefit from.

I mainly use it to install yYou+, a modified YouTube version that's like Vanced. Except slightly shittier because thanks to iOS being retarded, it can't open YouTube links directly. (At least it installs a Safari extension that opens it when you open a YouTube link, but that has to ask you. Every time).
I also use Delta, the emulator that AltStore was initially developed for (Apple used to reject emulators from the App Store, so the dev created AltStore and AltServer so people can install it anyway). But in the EU, I can install that from the Alternate App Store version of AltStore, so I no longer need to refresh it.

if you plan on using a phone with an oled screen for a long period of time and with frequent use, you should really try to not use more brightness than necessary, alternate between dark mode and light mode, and not use the same apps with the same ui too much.
of course this means babysitting your expensive phone so yeah if you don't like doing that, are a power user, and don't want to consider a screen replacement every few years lcd is definitely preferrable

Thanks for the reply man. No, my phone does not have burn-in, just the green line. I said so in a previous post but I keep forgetting there are no tags in this board. In my case it really was out of the blue, as far as I can tell. Apparently the S20 line is shitty like that. I have been using it with pretty low brightness too, though that is mainly due to my sleeping habits. It has pissed me off enough tho to consider getting a cheap LCD phone and be done with it. Only problem is, the LCD on my laptop causes me headache but maybe it is due to the low refresh rate and overall shitty quality of the screen itself

The last time I was looking to buy an android was ages ago. Generally speaking do the manufacturer UIs matter anymore or did that mostly equalize?

Right now I'm eyeing a motorola edge 50 neo, realme gt 6t and oneplus nord 4 as they're all similarly priced in my yuropoor hellhole (technically samsung a55 and poco f6 are in that bracket too but they seem to be overpriced when compared to other countries).
I never owned a phone by any of these brands so I don't really have a point of reference when it comes to the software and its support.
