My favorite three were Bon Monsieur, Targhee, and Vert. The first one because I love Drakkar Noir unironically, and it smells kinda similar, but better. The third because I just love woody-leathery combos, and Targhee is a special one for me. I used to work in the Caribou-Targhee National Forest, so it's very nostalgic and reminds me of better, wilder days. Never found another perfume that really captures that sagebrush and junie.

Glad you could find something with such a deep connection Anon, mine aren’t nearly as sentimental. Mousse Illuminee is my favorite by far, I just really enjoy the pseudo green smoke feel I get from it as it progresses to an embery moss scent and the grapey background. Both of the Derviches are the next two in line simply because I’m a sucker for sweet scents over most things, but I’d pick Bon Monsieur and Tabac Vert next.

Derviche II reminds me a lot of The Most Wanted line though, which I own Parfum, so it would feel a bit redundant.
I was surprised Targhee Forest was as floral as it was.

>Eau d'Orange Verte
orange is prominent. similar dark rindy orange in a green context to Terre, though the rest of the fragrance is not too similar. the Eau is more soapy and refreshing with a classic light citrus aromatic / cologne hybrid feel, and it doesn't have any of the spice, Iso E, vetiver or weird mineral notes
I think Verte is a great and timeless fragrance, though it does perform like an eau de cologne, which is what it is. Terre was probably riffing on it slightly, but they are different enough to both be worth owning, Terre as more of a whole year wear and Verte as a refreshing EDC

Gourmand is slightly larger than just sweet things. Admittedly it’s mostly sweet things, but there are also coffee gourmands that are popular. I just posted in the last thread about how Five o’Clock au Gingembre is a lightly sweetened ginger candy scent.

You could also just dislike gourmands, nothing wrong with that. I hate most fruity scents.

Anonymous 01/20/25(Mon)19:03:58 No.18371969
>>18371962
To me it's not a tobacco fragrance (maybe a touch in the background somewhere?) and I've only heard it described as an oud frag

It opens with sweet fruits, kind of like dried fruits and a bunch of oud while it goes to the middle the fruits get less prominent and some spices enter the stage(a bit of cinammon and clove) with the oud being the main note and it dries down into just an oud. The sweetness gets progressively less sweet from the opening to the end and at the finish it mixes with the spiciness

The type of oud changes, you get some medicinal oud here and there and some mild western oud and a little bit of a rosy oud and it dries out into a woody oud

I like how turin describes chopard's malakis calling them combinations of many other fragrances, so here you get a western style of oud and an arabic one which works quite well as it isn't overwhelming and it's very wearable for an oud scent.

pour homme is a very creamy lavender iris for most of it's runtime and at the end the flowers get replaced with woods and the creaminess gets evened out
there's some citrus in the opening but not even half as much as in new york intense
compared to NYI it's less balanced and to me the creaminess is overwhelming but it's still very elegant

equus is a masculine woody vetiver with some spices, you could think of it as a precusor to terre d'hermes but less dry and with more going on than dry woods and spices
I prefer it to TDH because it's "fuller" thanks to the supporting notes

Sporty can be interpreted two ways:
1) Citrus heavy to cut through the smell of sweat (tends to be short longevity because of volatile citrus molecules)
2) high longevity with high sillage (heavy leathers and woods with high longevity floral notes) to outlast whatever sporting event is going on. i.e. Torino 22

Honestly any fragrance will seem sporty if you wear it while playing sports because you bodyheat will activate the fragrance, but some don't make sense. Like wearing a dark patchouli scent on the court doesn't make sense to me.
