No, it should be the opposite. When you align yourself and bring that grander spirit into the here and now, you act from your true will. I used to believe in reincarnation when I was a Buddhist, now I don't. I believe there are malicious entities who deceive people during NDEs, so that the NDE-er might spread lies upon their return to life. I also believe that the same or similar entities can implant false memories within children or those under hypnosis, which are the most common instances in which a person will claim to remember a false life, that is to say, when they are most vulnerable to mental and spiritual interference.

Another strange thing: generally the doctrine of reincarnation throughout history has included a belief that humans can be reborn into states below that of humanity, ie. animals, insects, ghosts and beings who are tortured in a kind of Hell realm. Why are the majority of past lives remembered of a level of human or higher, and generally pleasant or glorious? Especially in the West. Where are those who remember lives as a cockroach, a hungry ghost, or a creature of Hell being sawed in two over and over for aeons?

I'm not sure how it is for all you "others", but for me apparently NDEs aren't the same? I dunno, I remember a couple of times I took way too much drugs, and I was able to "fight back" the feeling death or rather dread of death a couple of times. I went to a world that was completely unified in total service to God, and everyone was working in lockstep to terraform the planet into a replica of earth down to the hillsides. They had tractors and backhoes moving the earth. They had dinosaurs stomping in synch to do some task I didn't fully understand, but maybe it was some type of sonar mapping of the underground, though it also acted as drumming to keep the pace of the work. The entities told me that over time all the genetic memory of all beings on their world had become synchronized.
There was no struggle, everyone knew exactly what they needed to do at all times, there was no conflict because all were serving God with full knowledge of purpose, and willingly did his will and bidding.
I felt very uncomfortable there. No strife, no struggle, no variety, everything in perfect order.

The further away from our known human realm of thought and consciousness a state of being is, the harder it is to bridge the gap of awareness between the two. I have awareness of myself as a dolphin in past lives, because they are slightly similar and I interacted with humans while I was a dolphin. If I wasn't still capable of imagining myself as a dolphin, and having my soul form its light into the form of a dolphin, I would have no awareness of such a thing. I'd imagine if you were a bug or other non mammalian life form, or a life form with a lower level of intelligence than our own, there is very little crossover between our awareness and that other state of awareness, and such our human mental psychology would be completely inadequate to comprehend itself as another state. What memories of being a mouse, or a snake, are can occur to you as a human in any way, and how is your brain capable of comprehending such memories? Children are more within their soul consciousness before their human brain is fully grown, and so are more capable of the states of consciousness where they remember stuff that occurred without their current brains memories.
If you can shift yourself sufficiently into non corporeal awareness, and far away from human consciousness with both a path to that state away from human awareness, and back from that state into human awareness without any break of continuity, you can somewhat recover such memories.
