The Chopin transition from Pittsburgh to Vietnam in The Deer Hunter, because it "eulogizes" that part of their lives, which is ending forever, in the most beautiful melancholic way. Cimino was a true master and the ONLY sucessor of classic Hollywood in post-1960s USA, but of course none of you retards here will agree.

The scene in Rio Bravo with the gang all comes together to play My Rifle, My Pony and Me because it's a great rendition, it cements their camaraderie and is a moment of simple joy for them all amidst strife and uncertainty.

Happened to pick my favorite as well. Me and my ex gf would listen to the audio from that scene all the time. Cliche, but I'd pick a scene from Singin in the Rain. That giant musical number in the end where there are the notes of Gotta Dance being played quietly as he's walking through the streets with the signs, then the music swells and he's reminded of his passion. Looked for the clip but couldn't find it.

>>I sometimes joke, but seriously as well, that perhaps a film could be shown without a title, and only the director’s name would be enough. Audiences would come just to see the vision of that director, like people going to a museum specifically to see Van Gogh’s paintings. They aren’t there for any particular piece but for the artist himself.

>Theater has had a significant impact on my work, especially my understanding of time. In theater, time is continuous; it can’t be manipulated the way it often is in film. There’s no “cut,” no way to compress or extend moments artificially. This sense of real time is something I bring into my films. I like to show time as it really is, without interruption, which is why my shots are often long and unbroken. In my films, I want the audience to feel the passage of time and experience each moment as fully as possible, much like they would watching a play.

Funny what the memory holds, the first time i watched this it was on tv in either 2009 or 10 and all i remembered was how much he smoked and that i thought the girl was cute, rewatching it now i loved every second of it. When he sings in the bath and it cuts to him finally singing with Mei Mei it was extremely touching without actually being sentimental, pure kino moment, the final scene also very striking. More than a solid debut, guess i'm gonna chrono Jia now.

>>207960761
Not really, I just beat up a guy in a public park. He taunted me for like 3 minutes, screamed "cocksucker" in my ear and then pulled up a boxcutter in front of me. I got so angry that I stood there watching him straight to his eyes while his girlfriend told him to get the fuck away from the place, but the dude told me the equivalent of "let's see what you want" (vamos a ver qué es lo que es) and approached me agressively, so I just punched him in the face then kicked him 2 or 3 times while the guy was in the ground; GF got close and I shoved her into the ground too. People watched all of this shit, and the dude was bleeding out of his nose. If the guy presses charges, I'm fucked (can get 3 months to 1 year prison). This was yesterday and honestly, I've been thinking of just voluntarily giving up to police before they catch me. I can get a more lenient sentence like community service and a fine if the dude pulls through, but if I did permanent harm to him, I'm done with. I just don't know how things could get to this point; I was just trying to eat a sub in peace.

I know about self defense, but the thing is, there's such a thing as excessive force in here, specially for women related crimes, and it's not my word against theirs, as there were witnesses. The self defense argument, the fact that the guy was armed and my mental illnesses are all ameliorating factors, but I still don't think that I can get away with this shit because of the pushing the GF part. They could really fuck up my life with that, as she was unnarmed and a woman. I just don't know what to do man, I'm so fucking desperate I couldn't sleep until 3 AM, and was having near psychotic breakdown when I got home. I just don't know anymore. Oh, it's not that bad, even with the woman thing, if there were witnesses like you said and you simply pushed her away when she got close as you were beating the guy up it can still be seen as self-defense. Get a good lawyer immediately and tell him the whole story without omitting anything and do exactly what he says. Do you have any prior arrests and a criminal record? Because if this guy is pulling boxcutters on people and tauntong them then he probably does and if you don't that's another point on your side and they will see it was obvious self-defense. You'll probably not have to serve anytime. Unless the fucker died, then i don't know.

>Do you have any prior arrests and a criminal record?
Yes, I already did 15 days in my teen years for assaulting a bully in High School (bro had stolen my phone, so I told my friends, -who were gang affiliated-, and we gave that dude an ass whooping; he did press charges btw). Aside from that, I've had minor offenses for public intoxication, drugs (consuming and carrying small doses), dissorderly conduct and a felony for theft (stole money from an ex-"friend"). Those 15 days in juvenile were hell, but at least I was there with friends, so I could protect myself.
>The way you were talking yesterday i thought you had straight up murdered someone.
I thought so too, and there's the possibility still that I'm indeed a murderer. The thing is, I feel so disappointed in myself that I don't know if I want to go on living. I just asked God to either kill me or heal me, and I don't know if I have a chance to make it anymore. It feels like I've come so far just to lose it all again, and it's my fault. I'm just too flawed of a man, I don't wanna go on living like this. Do you guys think a man like me can really belong in society someday? I feel like a lifer even though I'm still "free", I've always felt that way. Always felt judged and alone. This shit ain't how life is supposed to be. /film/s for this feel?
