I guess he introduced me into deeper levels of kino. Also share some memories with friends because he's one of the few normie directors who have enough quality and accesibility as to be watched by both me and friends. One particular anecdote which I like is when I recommended a friend to watch Eraserhead back in High School and he watched it with his family. He told me they were scared shitless.

I went to the cinema to see Wild at Heart, and there's a scene where a car is coming around to park and, out of nowhere, there's this sudden blast of trumpets, but nothing happens. I didn't realise (or understand) that you could do things like that in movies.
>What is your favorite David Lynch film?
Wild at Heart, because it was the first Lynch movie I saw at the cinema. That first sequence where Slaughterhouse plays as he smashes that nigger's skull off the stairs blew me away.

Nah, I never told anyone until I was 19 years old, which was a mistake because my family is composed of mostly human garbage. Only one person truly showed compassion which was not even family, but a mentor. If I told people all of the things I've been through they would not believe it (not that they even believe it when I do). I've just given up hope on humanity, but I still continue being myself after all. I'm too strong to give up, for some reason.

I look like Keanu Reeves in pic rel but with wavier hair, almost curly, and a full beard. And no, the only thing that made me this way was life and mainly people. I just became vindictive over time, maybe evil to some people.

>What is this film about? It is about a Man. No, not the particular man whose voice we hear from behind the screen, played by Innokentiy Smoktunovsky. It's a film about you, your father, your grandfather, about someone who will live after you and who is still "you". About a Man who lives on the earth, is a part of the earth and the earth is a part of him, about the fact that a man is answerable for his life both to the past and to the future. You have to watch this film simply, and listen to the music of Bach and the poems of Arseniy Tarkovsky; watch it as one watches the stars, or the sea, as one admires a landscape. There is no mathematical logic here, for it cannot explain what man is or what is the meaning of his life.

Rented Mulholland Dr from Blockbuster when it came out and it was the first “weird/not straightforward” movie I had ever seen. Changed my life and made me start paying attention to movies way more- yep, Lynch got me into cinema. A tale as old as time.
Hard to pick a favorite, I really love Lost Highway and Wild at Heart.

Lynch affected me greatly, more than any other. Mulholland Drive was the first film I saw that was radically different from what I knew. Eraserhead was a typical mindfuck-teenager movie that I couldn't appreciate then. But over the years the film's have grown much and more for me. They still keep getting better. Lost Highway is the essential movie about masculinity with two core scenes perfectly encapsulating feeling only men can feel (the slow clap on the back and "you will never have me"). Mulholland Drive is simply insane in how he is able to so effortlessly project the subconscious onto the screen. I mean, think about it. He did not only have the idea for everything that happens in this film, he managed to aquire money and technical expertise to direct the technical and human equipment in a way to show what is deep inside his mind, and he succeeded like no other. Just check out the Diner Jumpscare or the intro to the Silencio scene. Finding the dead body or when the small parents intrude her home are by far the best horror scenes ever filmed. The Straight Story is grossly underrated and sometimes rated as his least typical film. But people seriously misunderstood how much of an heartfelt filmmaker lynch was, and the straight story shows it as straight as it gets. And it also emphasises that Lynch is a quintessential American filmmaker. When I think about Lynch's art, I think about America and how much he loves it.

To me he is truly the greatest filmmaker of all time and I can't imagine how someone would be able to surpass him. I can't imagine that film is able to do more than he did. We lost someone truly great today, but we get to keep his art. I'm now going to listen to his biography Room To Dream read by him. And so should you because there is nothing greater than Lynch talking about the beautiful memories of his childhood, like how he hit dead cows with sticks and how it was the most amazing thing he ever did.

Lynch was the last filmmaker to smuggle his way into Hollywood while still being able to (for a time atleast) actually get funding and approval to make his out-of-the-norm “bizarre” films. All actors liked Lynch as his films gave them the “weird artsy” streetcred they desired, and mainstream audiences liked him because while his films were “weird” they were still “normal” enough to appeal to the larger audience.
Love him or hate him- we won’t get another filmmaker in the Hollywood arena like this anytime fucking soon, if ever again.

That's not quite true. Eraserhead and Inland Empire are also horror movies, and Twin Peaks can also be said to fall into horror even though not all episodes are horror focused. The Return definitely has more horror though which was all directed by him. He's always been a horror director even though not all his movies can be called horror movies, but he has included horror elements in pretty much all of his works.
