9800x3D is the *only* sensible CPU choice to use in a build. Games are becoming more CPU bound by the week.
"Oh I can upgrade later" - what's the point? Just buy a 9800x3D now, and you can choose whether or not to skip a generation in 2026/27. If you try to build a PC with a 7500f, 9700 or whatever, you'll be upgrading in a year;s time anyway.

People will soon learn that the 7800x3D is not a "good" CPU. It's an "OK" CPU which should be viewed as the baseline. If you buy a 9800x3D today, you'll have an OK/average CPU in 2026/27.

For a client PC the only thing you really need to care about is the cell density. TLC should be preferred for a main drive for durability reasons as the the OS is constantly writing. DRAM is nice to have for performance but HMB is almost as good. The headline performance numbers don't generally apply to consumer applications but random read speed could be used as a tiebreaker.

Not that powerful. The B580 will have trouble running current games at full res 1080p without settings optimization and XeSS. Also the drivers are still a work in progress. On the bright side if you were OK with Radeon's drivers, Intel's aren't that far behind. But don't get me wrong, they're definitely behind.

850W is fine. Really even 750W would be fine unless you're overvolting. Techpowerup ran an i9 and a 4090 on an 850W

I was watching Kingpin's latest video and he said something interesting. Asus wanted to hire him and he said no to them because they apparently made it very clear they wanted to brainrape him for all of EVGA's internal workings and business in NA. He said he went to MSI to see if they wanted to partner on a card but they said no they are very not interested in a Halo card. He said it'd be weird if MSI were gonna come out with a Lightning card but MSI are doing exactly that. I wonder why they turned him down, I'm willing to bet money that Nvidia has told the AIBs to stay away from him if they don't want to end up like EVGA. He more or less confirmed that his next card will be an AMD one with PNY.

If you saw some of Kingpin’s videos, he’s a high maintenance guy.
He was asking for video card engineers that was solely dedicated to Kingpin projects.
ASUS doesn’t need him and MSI doesn’t do luxury hires.
XOC video card segment isn’t large enough to invest in Kingpin projects.
Those cards are high margin, but manufacturers don’t want to risk unsold, expensive cards so they usually pump out the MOQ.

People who buy AIO video cards deserve to get ripped off.
They can build a custom watercooled card with a TUF PCB for less money.
The TUF boards usually have the same display IO as Strixes, people flash Strix OC vBIOS on TUF cards.
TUF PCB is also good enough to be used in the ASUSxNoctua cards.

Looking at either an ASUS tax card or an MSI tax card. The MSI Suprim looks nice.

Jensen on the 5090:
>Of course, $2,000 is not a small amount, and it’s certainly a high value. But keep in mind that this technology is being used in your home theater-level PC setup. And that PC—where you’ve probably already invested around $10,000 in your monitor and sound system—will definitely need the best GPU. So many of our customers are simply after the absolute best.
Jensen on the 5080:

half a year.
it's actually better to get a 4060 because unlike 3060 12gb -> 4060 8gb, the 4060 was as strong as a 3060 TI which is HUGE when the 4060 costs the same as a 3060 (the 3060 was discounted down to $250 however).
the 5060 is expected to be 5-8% faster than a 4060 (mainly because it uses almost the exact same silicon), unlike the 20% boost from the 3060 to the 4060.
In canada, I found someone selling their 3070 for $200 on facebook marketplace, that's not a "amazing" deal (it's actually amazing if you consider the CAD conversion), but it's sufficiently decent if you aren't getting scammed.

the best software is absolutely going to be put behind a paywall on the cloud.
also upscaling or even 60fps conversions in my opinion have never really surprised me or made me feel like it's better than the original. At most I think color correction or denoising can make a huge difference, dunno if there is an AI that helps with that, but you can absolutely use video editing software with your 1070.
If you want to upscale your 480p porn, I think paywalls (even free trials) couldn't care less.

And then there is also the ol' "This Post Violates United States Law" move. If you ever go to /tv/ with any frequency, and you're not a chomo, you can expect to use that option with some frequency and, yes, they will purge whatever you reported in no time at all.

What are some good large cases? I'm looking for 4+ hard drive slots, good airflow preferably GPU fan mounts on the bottom shroud like the Lian Li cases have and 240 aio support for my cpu cooler. What are my options? modern cases seem to be so minimalistic

I haven't really touched any settings in the BIOS except for setting an XMP profile to get the RAM running as it should.

Is there any way to built a secure PC?
Here are my goals.
>Setup 1
Install one OS for private/personal/business use for "trusted" processing.
>Setup 2
Install another OS for gaming with botnet anti-cheat shit and kernel fuckery
I want Setup 2 to not be able to override firmware/etc and just be a fucking slave. I want my mice/keyboards/etc to feed into it, not be "managed" and have the secondary OS install shit onto them, same with my motherboard, I want the second OS (Windows 11) to NEVER touch any firmware and just isolate its updates to its own SSD used for booting that OS.
Can this be done or do I need a second PC to separate things?

I tweaked my fans (I was lazy with them since the 3700x didn't need much air flow) and that plus a -10 offset in pbo2 tuner held the 5700X3D between 70 - 75C for the entire all core test in Cinebench.
Considering that this is pretty much the worst case scenario workload wise and it's probably not gonna hit those numbers when gaming, I'm pretty happy with it. I don't know why it got a lower score than the non 3D version though, I guess Cinebench likes higher clocks more than cache?
I heard that -30 offset downwards is silicone lottery territory, so I'll tweak it down to -20 and see what happens. Maybe I can still shave some extra Cs off of this thing.

Jensen made it pretty clear a few years ago that people need to pay for the extra performance.
>“And the ability for Moore’s Law to deliver twice the performance at the same cost, or at the same performance, half the cost, every year and a half, is over.”
>”It’s completely over, and so the idea that a chip is going to go down in cost over time, unfortunately, is a story of the past.”
RTX 60 series is going to continue the price increase.
NVIDIA might sell even smaller 3 or 2nm GPUs for all SKUs.
If the 6060 gets at least 12GB VRAM, it will cost closer to $400.

I want a 34" 3440x1440 monitor, but many seem to rely on stuff like compression or chroma subsampling. This effectively makes the screen just 1720x720 resolution and not 3440x1440.
Are there any lists of monitors that actually meet their specs? With proper connectivity allowing for uncompressed 4:4:4 inputs at their stated refresh rates?
For example Dell are lying niggers.
Here's their page.
https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-34-curved-gaming-monitor-s3422dwg/apd/210-azep/monitors-monitor-accessories#techspecs_section
They say 3440x1440 144Hz
but, it has DP 1.2 and HDMI 2.0 both of which are INCAPABLE of that res and refresh rate even at 8bpc without compression/subsampling.
It's so hard to shop for things when SPECS are fraudulent.

Someone is selling this on Facebook Marketplace near me for $4700AUD (About 3k USD). I was planning on waiting for a 50 series, but the 5090 is going to end up costing roughly the price of this whole build.
Aside from the obvious risks of second hand, I'm a bit wary as this feels really cheap considering the price of a 4090 by itself here.
Should I try to snatch this up or just wait to see what happens with the new cards?

No node shrink so Nvidia was forced to rely solely on architecture improvements or ballooning the die size. For the former they put 80% of their uarch effort into meaningless shit like MFG and more AI-rendered bullshit (new DLSS. Reflex 2, etc) which is why real raster uplift according to leaks is only 20%. For the latter it means that using a larger chip on a now mature node vs. smaller predecessor minted back when the node was newer and more expensive neutralizes any production cost savings so the cards are barely any better priced.
Nvidia couldn't have wasted more R&D resources and gotten less performance for higher costs in the RTX 5000 series if they had set out and tried.

3nm chips came out like a year ago in iphones and nvidia chose to use 4nm+ which is just 5nm but they managed to make it a little better.
Nvidia is using 3nm on their AI gpu's that cost more than a car.

Check out the Corsair 4000D Frame case, it’s the update of the Airflow model.
Costs about $20 more than the Montech though.
I don’t know how long you plan to keep that motherboard, but it has a PCIe Gen 4 x16 lane.
If you ever plan to install a card that’s stronger than the 4090, maybe check out B650E or other AM5 boards with Gen 5 x16 lane.

Jensen made that quote on Sep 21, 2022 when Nvidia's Gross Profit margin was ~58% by Halloween.
It is now 76%.
SEVENTY SIX PERCENT RAW PROFIT MARGIN, EIGHTEEN PERCENT HIGHER THAN THEN AND FAR ABOVE THE 30-40 PERCENT TREND PRE-2010.
>But that's just gross, what about the net? THE NET!?
What about it? In late 2022 it was ~21% net profit margin, it is now 56%. More than the double the final amount made per card in two years and remember these are results AFTER factoring in whatever "rising" wafer input costs they want to blame TSMC for.
https://www.macrotrends.net/stocks/charts/NVDA/nvidia/net-profit-margin
The RTX 5000 series could be less than half the announced MSRP and still make Nvidia the same amount of money they were used to for most of the 2000s. Jensen can rot in hell.

Ok, now what's the margin of consumer RTX vs enterprise?
RTX 50 probably could be cheaper but it's the enterprise/datacenter segment pulling up their margins; not the consumer segment which is only like 12% of their total revenue

Jensen and the people at NVIDIA know the company’s going through a once in a lifetime opportunity.
All the major hyperscalers are developing their own AI chips.
NVIDIA knows they’re on a timer and will milk every drop out of their customers until they can’t.
