deepseek-reasoner is R1. The index.html edit is specifically just to get prefill to work on OpenRouter.
Since OR doesn't provide a way to view reasoning_content yet, you can prefill <think> as a workaround to see it.
Without any prefill, the model does do the thinking part but you can't see it.
Direct DeepSeek in ST has "show model thoughts" option but ironically redundant since it doesn't return visible </think> and you don't want to send it along with chat history, and any prefill turns reasoning_content null.
I haven't extensively tested thinking on/off yet.

Yeah it has this weird problem where it just makes up a million details and adds tons of unnecessary and confusing stuff to the story. For example with NSFW scenes in an apartment it constantly added neighbours complaining about the noise, and a description of the outside of the building, in the middle of it, and would keep reintroducing both of these topics in subsequent turns even if I removed them from the original gen.

Swipe after swipe, it's just too many story elements that it's making up and which are totally not necessary.
It's too unfocused and that's annoying.

It's the opposite of Sonnet 3.5 which on the other hand is far too simple and direct, and also the worst aspect of it is how it turns every single character into one of like three or four archetypes it has.

It's not bad otherwise though, it does write relatively well. Having something other than Claude is good and it costs basically nothing to use.

I give up. I've been fiddling with deepsneed all day and I haven't been able to get it to do anything worth a damn. It ignores instructions, fixates on random minor unnecessary details, and barrels full steam ahead through any kind of slow moments as if it's allergic to pacing.
