Flashing hard drive LED. There's usually a header on your mobo for it, solder up an LED + resistor if you have to.

I own this audio interface. If you look at the bottom right, you'll see a knob with a laptop icon, which controls volume being inputted from the device, and one with a headphone icon, which controls volume being outputted to the headphone. Is there any functional difference between using one or the other to control volume, or does it really not matter? Should I max one before the other when I need high volume?
Anonymous 01/15/25(Wed)09:17:18 No.103903670
>>103903604
Yeah if you attenuate the input it makes the signal going through the rest of the device smaller and more susceptible to distortion or aliasing. Always start as loud as possible and attenuate as late as possible.

so input gain vs. output gain?
it depends on what you're trying to do, but i would avoid trying to increase volume using output gain when there's still room to increase input gain instead. it depends on what you're mixing it with what makes most sense
basically you want to avoid boosting weak signals in general, so like don't have the input gain turned lower than it needs to be, then boosted on the output to make up for it, you're going to have a noisy result

Got it thanks. Another thing I noticed, turning on mic monitoring (the mix minus button above the speaker volume knob) makes me hear my mic EXTREMELY loudly, like I can barely vocalize the subtlest of whispers and it's loud enough to perfectly make out what I'm saying, yet the actual mic volume when recording or talking to someone on a call isn't anywhere close to being as loud as that. What gives?

I tried the Sony wf-1000xm5 and they're super uncomfortable for my ears. I feel like they're going to fall off at any moment so I'm sending them back.
What's the next best thing I can get for the same price range and maybe a couple extra bucks? My focus is on battery life, ANC and comfort.
Currently I'm split between the Nothing Ear 2 and the Galaxy Buds 3 pro. I don't use apple and some brands like B&W/Technics/Jabra don't exist in my country, so I don't consider them because I'd be paying 100+ dollars in shipping and taxes.

I have a triple monitor setup with 1 monitor being vertical and the other 2 being horizontal.

Give it to me straight. Do potentially missing pins on a CPU impact download stability? I ended up having to rip both it and its dead stock cooler out and while I didn't see any bending, a single digit number of them were missing, though I managed to reseat the CPU without any issues (except for the BIOS treating it as "new" for some reason). But now downloads that never fail suddenly are every other minute. Very aggregating.
The CPU in question is an especially old FX-8320E I got 11 years ago. If the missing(?) pins are the culprit, I'll have to either get a replacement off of ebay or overhaul the entire server. Both very costly.

Download problem is gone for now, but only if I limit to three downloads at a time Going for five and beyond is what causes the failures to pile up. Before the incident it could handle up to 10 without any significant slowdown thanks to Ethernet.

is there a password generator that can generate complex but easy to remember passwords or even passphrases? i remember having seen something like this a couple years ago but i cant find anything.
it would basically take any password or passphrase and apply leetspeak to it. that way its an easy to remember password while still being simple to remember.
ive been planning on moving to a password manager but i do need to be able to just manually input my passwords as well, without having to rely on the password manager being installed on the device that im using.

could be very easy to tell your lie, but then again, if your boss asks you to buy stuff from ebay from him, he probably wont bother.
just think if the little more money from that sale is worth not just loosing your job but potentially being sued in the absolute worst case scenario.
two ways to easily check your lie that come to mind is to just look up past sales on ebay and seeing the relevant article for less than what you claim you paid, and the other would be to simply ask you to show him the transaction again, be it on your ebay account, or on your bank account, or whatever.

Well, in a more complete answer docker uses a VM when the host kernel is anything but Linux and the guest kernel is always Linux as far as I know, so you can't put a windows exe in a docker container without Wine in the container. That makes me wonder if there are any container applications like docker which use the NT kernel. I guess there's Internet Information Services.

I just learnt that my seemingly local smart home/homelab is not, in fact, local. I had a really weird outage.
I woke up to Home Assistant not being able to access the Philips Hue bridge even though they are both connected to the same dumb as fuck L2 switch. HAOS is on Proxmox on the default bridge. Proxmox complained about "NETDEV WATCHDOG: CPU: 0: transmit queue 0 timed out <a few thousand> ms" several times on the tty. I was not able to access PVE dashboard using a domainname - only IP. Moreover, the openWRT router was not able to nslookup the ip of openwrt.org. I cannot access the logs on openWRT as they got deleted a few hours ago. Only midly concerning message I have from this host is "daemon.warn odhcpd[1572]: No default route present, overriding ra_lifetime!" every couple of minutes but that is a few hours after the outage.
All my DNS records are set in Cloudflare. DNS on the router is set to 1.1.1.1 and on all the other hosts set to the openWRT router running dnsmasq. After checking downdetector there seemed to be a rather slight spike in reports about 3 hours before the outage.
If this shit was not weird enough, get this: after reboot of both the openWRT and PVE node it worked for a minute or two (I was able to access HAOS using the domainname) and then it went to shit again. Later, everything went back to normal.
I don't even know how to reproduce this. I don't want to wake up again with no way to turn on the fucking light. Any ideas on how to deal with this?

Is there a way to interact with those through curl instead?

Just got a DAC
Can do up to 384khz/32bit but running 192khz/32bit makes mpv take a business day to open so I assume 32bit is overkill
I am now using 192khz/24bit
from what I've gathered, most music is 44.1khz (no clue how the upsampling works here) except some lossless rips and most media is 48khz (upsampled x4 -> 192khz)
The question is: what sample rate should I be using? Is it true Windows upsampling lowers quality? In the end, is the difference even noticeable?
I DID notice the difference going from running onboard audio to a proper DAC. The difference in quality is definitely noticeable. But is the difference in samplerate, upsampling quality even noticeable?

Google Voice and some heirs apparent can't do it. Skype stopped letting people do phone number shennanigans last month. eSim providers seem like they just let you connect to the country's cell phone towers and stuff. Has anybody done something like this?

Working with an m.2 2230 port on a laptop that seems to be faulty, W10. Tested with 2 different wlan cards, installed drivers for both beforehand, neither one shows up in device manager. Tested both cards in another machine and they are functional. This behavior has persisted through multiple clean OS installs. Shitty usb wlan adapter works fine.
Any ideas? Was trying to figure out of windows reports the status/existence of the 2230 slot anywhere, but im not having any luck. Might put a distro on usb and see if linux sees it.

Again, both cards work in other machines.

I recently set up TrueNAS on a box I threw together from old hardware and it's been working fine so far, had to get a 4xSATA PCIe breakout card to hook up all my drives over SATA3, but I had no issues with that so far. Decided to pick up a 2.5G network adapter as well to throw in there, and when I installed it the network adapter worked fine but suddenly the system couldn't see any of the drives I had plugged into the SATA card. If I remove the network adapter the drives are detected again no problem.
What the fuck gives, if I've got enough PCIe slots to fit the cards, shouldn't they be able to work at the same time? It's not a bad port because I tried swapping them and I had the same result, the network adapter always worked and the SATA card never did until I removed the network card.

hello,
my pc has begun giving me a warning or error message when cold booting in the morning with several internal speaker beeps and everything (prior to post i guess?). says cpu fan error and to go into uefi. thing is, both cpu fans (as well as all the other fans in fact) seem to be working just fine. what gives? too much dust build-up maybe?

Stupid SQL question
Whats the best way to handle the following relation:
I have a table named stocks with the following fields:
ID, Company, Owner
Conceptually the owner can be either a person
or another company.
But I obviously cant have a foreign key that points to one of two different tables.
How should I handle this?
Should I use two fields instead of one where one has to always be Null or should I create another table
Owners that acts as a baseclass of Company and Person?

Lol. Assuming you're not going to power cycle when it inevitably crashes, sure.
As for staying on ... Residential power feeds tend to be rather dirty. Unless that's filtered then you're likely causing damage already.
Like any other chain, it's only as strong as it's weakest component. I'd not expect capacitors, resistors, etc to last 'forever'. Should be able to score a few decades uptime if you lost winhoes tho. Spinning rust, or anything that moves is a risk, mechanical wear is a thing and a few decades of it tends to kill things

If you're getting cheap chinese shit, it's prolly 'best' not to pay 3-5x what it's worth from scamzon.
Your gripes about privacy invasion are well founded, and good luck finding one that doesn't need a 'tardphone. Myne can't even set the f'kin time, it leeches that from the phone.
However, unless the watch itself connects to the internet (ie: has it's own SIM/eSIM/iSIM) then the data leakage occurs from the (cr)app.
My solution here was to use some open source yummieness. GadgetBridge isn't too shabby, and will hold graphs et al further than the watch can. It keeps the data local. Unsure if your device will be supported, but devices are added all the time and them has a requests section. Ultimately being all open then you can fiddle with a protocol analyser like nRFConnect and get the data from the device you'll need to make it supported yourself.

>Do potentially missing pins on a CPU impact download stability?
There's a lotta things that can impact download stability. It's usually your ISP being cunts. Supplying you with a shitty router they was paid to offload onto you because the manufacturer couldn't sell it counts too.
Use a protocol analyser like wireshark to inspect the packet stream. See why the download fails.
CPU pins are rather important. Without them, parts of the processor don't connect to parts of the board. Depending on what pin it is, and ofc what processor, impacts what it's not connecting to.
AFAIK, there's no "download" pin. I would imagine if there's a problem being caused, it'll impact more than downloads.
Where in the matrix is this pin absented? It should be pretty difficult to bend a single one with 'em all in sockets. The outer edges will feature the most angle if it's ripped sideways more than 'up'. Insertion is another story, and able to bend pins anwhere misaligned (and hard to mis-align a single).
A casual glance at https://www.techpowerup.com/cpu-specs/images/sockets/AMDSocketAM3Plus.jpg suggests there's supposed to be pins missing. Looks to be 7 to me.
It should have 942 pins.

no, im not going to install keypass onto someone elses device, load my database file onto it and load my passwords when i can just look at the database on my own phone and type it in.
but typing it in is a chore if its actually meeting proper secruity standards, so having a password that is complex but still easy to remember is key.

Sometimes I unzip, shrink, and then use a batch file to repack research materials that are really big. I recently reformatted though and my bat file was just deleting the folders without zipping them since the paths were wrong.
Is there any way to restore them? t was only a handful of stuff I'll never recall or see again but I like hoarding interesting research materials to bolster my knowledge. It doesn't go into my recycle bin though since it's a .bat file. Here's the .bat for anyone who might find it useful.
for /d %%X in (*) do "------\path to \7-Zip------\7z.exe" a "%%X.zip" "%%X\
for /d %%X in (*) do RMDIR "%%X" /S /Q
ren *.zip *.cbz
I call it "Zip Delete Rename.bat" because it zips up folders in the directory and then deletes them, then it renames the zips to .cbz.

Nvidia's recent announcement of "Project Digits" has gotten me interested is LLMs again. I'm trying to get a US model Zenfone 10 because I need a phone with a headphone jack and that isn't fuckhuge (EX anything over like 5.8 inches) and isn't old as shit, and that's the only one that fits my conditions
I've been told the way to check if a Zenfone is a US or international model is to give Asus's support chat the serial number, but one agent told me it was a US model but then checked again and said it was an international model, then triple checked and said it was international again. Then another agent said it was a US model like the other person initially did.
Is there a foolproof way to check?
I know the US and International models have different network band support, so is there a way I could specifically have the phone try to connect to specific bands and see if it works or not, which would confirm which one it is?

I'd imagine they'd be pretty good with correcting whatever you're writing. Grammerly is an extension so it wouldn't be quite as seamless though (then again I'm sure there are a ton of ai extinctions you could use). I say it's not as seamless because you're going to have to copy paste whatever you're correcting into their chat boxes but that shouldn't be too much of a problem unless you're trying to correct an entire paper or something like that all at once. And yet those models, even the open source ones, should be more than capable of doing something as simple as grammar correction.

I have an Ipad pro 11 2nd generation. One time I let it battery to drop to 0 and turn off. I put it on charger but it got stuck on Apple logo. The official solution (https://support.apple.com/en-us/102642) is to let it charge for a few hours and hard restart it. So I did that, and after hard restarting it about 3 times, it started to work. However recently I again got it battery to zero and it turned off, and it's stuck on the logo. So again, I left it to charge for several hours and hard restarted it. I've restarted it about 50 times now, and it's still stuck. What to do?
The people on the internet say it's because of full storage, but I have 40 gb's of free storage space. My ipad os version was the latest before the 1.8 one, I think 1.7.2 something like that, and my autoupdates are off.
The second official solution is to connect to PC with itunes, enter into recovery mode and then reset or update the OS. However as I do the steps, connecting it to PC, hard restart the ipad, and then keep holding the power button, nothing happens. It should enter into recovery mode and show itunes logo, but that simply does not happen. I've tried 4 different cables on 4 ports on 2 different PC's. The port on the ipad itself is working. I can't take it to the service center, as there are none in my area.
Pls help.

On Linux you want to 'migrate', not clone. Cloning is absolutely the stupidest thing ever:
>copy every block from block device to another without any thinking
Meaning you'd write an entire terabyte when cloning a terabyte drive even if the drive had nothing in it. ('nothing' is human concept, blocks always contain something)

no, the reason torrents can be an issue on CoW filesystems is because they download large files in small, randomly-positioned chunks, basically random-write. this can results in very fragmented files
yt-dlp on the other hand does sequential downloads. moreover, things like youtube are downloaded by getting the video stream and audio stream separately, then muxing them, the final muxed file is also written sequentially
as a side note, there's ways to mitigate the fragmentation of torrents. i don't know if zfs has a defrag tool, but with btrfs at least you can configure your torrent client to issue a defrag on torrent completion. alternatively, you could have the client move the file(s) to a new location, this will re-write the data in a contiguous fashion. another solution is to disable CoW on your download/incomplete folder entirely, also if possible. i haven't used zfs myself in many years, but btrfs can do this
another side note; many torrent clients have an option to preallocate space before downloading, this is to avoid fragmentation on non-CoW filesystems and i don't believe it has an effect on CoW filesystems, at least not without also disabling CoW for those files or the folder they're downloading to

this is why error checking and sanity checking is critical when writing scripts, if you just assume each line succeeds, you're going to have a bad time eventually
you can try using general purpose file recovery tools, not sure what the go-to ones are for windows these days. friendly windows thread would be a good place to ask

depending on what kind of software he's trying to run, he may be better off with a pc emulator aimed at running old software/os's, like 86box. the catch is that it's a lower level emulator, so it both requires a fast host and can only do up to about Pentium II speeds, so it's more of a Windows 98 and under kind of thing than XP
the '00s are an awkward era as far as emulation goes, it's both too new for low level emulation and too old for virtualisation. that said, you generally don't need either to run games made for XP, tools like dgvoodoo, wine, dxwnd, etc can get most or all of such games/software running on modern os's directly

I used the AC97 sound device for sound, and for networking with virtual machines, you usually set up a bridge connection and give that to your VMs. Make sure to install the virtio drivers if you can, there should be an .iso with all the drivers you need available but I have no idea if they'll work on XP. You could try another sound device.
If you want audio output to a pair of physical speakers, just get yourself a USB DAC or USB headphone jack adapter dongle and pass that through to the VM.

if you get an AI model to create unit tests for your entire program and it returns 100% branch coverage, do you need to double check everything or is that a good sign it's done its job? Of course you'd want to poke around it a bunch to make sure it isn't just shitting out non-functional tests but if it's managing to reach those goals, its almost certain its doing it correctly, right?

Why is anticheat so hard to bypass?
Couldn't you just make the game communicate to the server that you have the anticheat installed when you actually don't? What am I missing?
I don't cheat or even play video games much but this really piqued my curiosity since it seems like it would be so easy but apparently it isn't.

I was able to get audio and network working but I did it a while ago so my memory isnt completely fresh
for audio I used ac79
for network I used rtl8193 with NAT
for the "guest additions" you need to install the virtio drivers. The new ones don't work with XP but you can use old drivers with the current( at least what debian uses) qemu/virt manager. you can find them here
https://fedorapeople.org/groups/virt/virtio-win/direct-downloads/archive-virtio/
IIRC 0.1.130 is the last version that works with XP

Current LLMs are tuned to respond with most probable next token, or something close to the most probable one, what if we go complete opposite? Will the output even be finished sentences or just random words? What if we start from least probable and see what it looks like then slowly start moving toward more probable, we might get more interesting results?

>any device that isnt mine
Why would you be putting your passwords into a device that isn't yours? That's not sane account handling policies.
If you're stupid enough to give random third parties access to your accounts, and somehow this aligns with requiring a secure password/passphrase (hint: phrase can be something you will easily recall. Say a fave line of poem.) then any ½ decent p/w manager allows for exports. You can trim to relevant and distribute *that*.
>so having a password that is complex but still easy to remember is key.
I only really recall a handfull. There's the stupidly long passphrase to unlock the HD at boot, the easily entered but reasonably complex to login to my user account. Another stupidly complex one that's easy for me to recall for the password database that's a blend of methods.
Other than that I have a couple of 'disposable' ones of various complexity - easy for me to recall through it's patterning - that I use for shit I don't care about.
Anything that actually requires security either eats x.509 - and that'd be real unwise to throw the private ½ of your key onto systems outside of your control - or if they're retarded and still using passwords, decades after secure methods have been commonly available, the password manager takes care of it...

Loads. Got stuffs inbound now.
It's kinda like fleabay. Only fleabay started up as person:person, and business' jumped on later 'cause that's where the traffic is, and aliexpress started off as the business:consumer arm of alibaba (business:business) and people jumped on it later 'cause that's where the traffic at.
Just like fleabay, you get decent traders and fuckwombles. Which is which needs to be handled on an individual basis, there's no commonly governing rewls.
Research the product to the best of your ability before parting with money. Generally things on there is aiight, with a notable exception to some digital goods. For example cheap storage - almost certainly to be not what it says on the tin. If usuable at all. A common trick is to make a MicroSD card reader report the wrong size for the card in there, and round-robin the writes to give the impression of storing that much data.
In such cases they tend to be good about enforcing refunds, however. I've just stopped buying that sorta thing from there. Less fucking about. I want shit to work, not to fuck about for 120hrs provably demonstrating every block on the 16TB of storage is unusuable. But when I paid £4 for it, it comes at no surprise.
Another problem I've noticed is some of the reviews may not be for the product you're lookin' at, from that vendor. It might be a remarkably similar product, ie: clone - or from another vendor.
Depending on the quality of the clone, it might be useful. A good example here is aeropress (kawphee maker) - there's dozens of clones, and functionally they pretty much the same thing. Reviews for one - if the pictures match damn good - are probably usable.
Just like fleabay - but this is a 'people' scale problem, not a 'platform' scale problem - there's folk that picture things that isn't what they're selling.

Litium batteries don't like to expire. The '0' listed by most devices isn't actually a flat battery, it's just getting close to it.
Once the voltage drops below a certain point, charging circuits fail to recognise it as a legit lithium battery, and will refuse to charge it. I've managed to 'jump start' a few using a known good battery but this isn't good for the cell (actually it's the discharge that's caused the damage. Chargin' it again is jsut fire risk) and isn't a reliable method.
Also awkward as fuck with pouch cells.
Get a new battery, and take care of this one. Do not allow it below 20% without charging and do not allow it over 80%, unless you're going to be away from power long enough for that extra to matter. Storing full charge (as in, not eating it instantly) does litium cells no good.

This is what happens when you suppose that your identity is entirely your job. You're pushed into this mindset by those who can benefit from it. If that's not enough for your happiness, what will be?
>everyone is like naturally drawn away from me bros/hos all leave even if they are super into me at one point.
Need moar data for productive analysis. Able to add much?
Y'can't be what erryone's lookin' for in a friend. What you can do, rather easily, is be you.
Unless you're a complete knobhead, that's usually enough for folk. If that aint, and you're not a completely abrasive obnoxious prick (like me) then that says a lot more about them, than it does you. People tend to be remarkably shallow creatures, especially in groups.
Tried finding 'shared interests'? Hobbies and suchwhat. Should expose you to more people, and amongst them you may find some of calibre.

Even easier when the data to validate has a specified format when unencrypted.

well torrents aren't written in a contiguous fashion, files are downloaded and written to disk on a per-piece fashion, which are usually much smaller than the files in the torrent, on a CoW filesystem, typically this means pieces are written one after the other, which sounds good, but the pieces aren't downloaded in the order of the file they're a part of, so when you go to use the completed file, it's all out of order; fragmented.
basically, what CoW does is write everything in order, even if what's being written is not in order, which is why you have to take special consideration when dealing with programs that make many random writes, such as torrents, virtual machine disc images, databases, etc.

i don't think that /dev is the same /dev mounted under /
normally what happens is your initramfs is used as /, and it mounts /dev in that, then it mounts your real on-disc root from there and then calls chroot to switch linux to the on-disc root, and from there your distro boots

And you can't automate copy and paste? I wouldn't, as there's easier ways, but the condition holds true.
For example the clearly defined specification to .pdf that allows it to render uniformly across clients can also be used to extract the data from within said .pdf. As that's essentially what it's doing.
>Literally unimaginable why I would want to do such a thing...
Well I struggled to find a legitimate reason - beyond clits n tickles - to take a perfectly suitable image and reduce the data quality by rendering it as ASCII. But there again, I'm not retarded so the sort of thing a spastic will think is clever will never occur to me.
If you'd provisioned reasoning I could of possibly understood - or more likely, offered a better solution than feeding the extracted images into an ASCII converter.

well, it's kinda hinted at, but you'd have to put 2 and 2 together. i don't think i've seen a torrent client actually mention fragmentation or why you might want to use its' preallocation option, much less anything to do with CoW considering the closest thing to a popular CoW filesystem is BTRFS, and that's still basically a literally who when it comes to normal people computers

Does anyone know of a way to use multiple computers on the same network with access to the same smb share to coordinate encoding a handbrake queue? Trying to render out a bunch of old video to x265 for storage. Not one video with 3 pcs, but more so pc 1 takes video 1 in queue, pc 2 takes 2, and so on, taking the next from the pile when finished. I have been doing it manually when it's easy to do so but it would be nice to have something like that. Most of what I've been able to see on google is out of my depth and seems to be related to rendering a single video in chunks with multiple pcs

In essence, it's the chips. As opposed to other storage methods of the time, things like analog magnetics on tapes or digital on floppies (that were actually floppy). "solid state" storage predates SSD's and flash drives. It was rare back then 'cause it was expensive. It's only when it became cheap did it start appearing on USB sticks, which also gained the name 'flash drives' 'cause of the chips.

Essentially, your issue is distributing the workload across the machines?
All these machines can access the same shared pool of data, so then your problem is reduced to making sure each machine isn't processing a file another has already done.... Prolly a few ways to do this.
"easiest" that springs to mind is to have an 'index file' referenced in a script. Get the script to feed in from the datastore, and as it picks up a file to transcode, put an entry in the index (prolly want to have an indicator for processing/processed). Have the script check the index and take the next logical one in sequence after the last entry. Then as one machine picks up a file to transcode, you can start the next machine off and in theory it should pick up the next file in the list. Then start the next machine off... Only issue I can see with that from top of head is if they all conclude an operation at the same time and look to the 'index' before the other independant copy of the script running has put in it's "processing" entry.

ffmpeg is dolly dimple, really. Don't be apheared of the command line any. It's your friend, and can make life so much easier than the narrow scope of options a GUI can provide.
The scripts are just sequences of commands, essentially. Just need to get a lil algebraic to be able to feed in variables - like filenames/paths.
If you'd find it easier, you can likely find an easily modifyable script in existence to ffmpeg a batch of files in a folder - if they all getting the same output that's hard to get any easier. You could split the load on the storage end, then point each machine at it's own load to process...

I've found another one where it seems to shart itself in the meantime. I'd saved a mashup from YT that was a rip, funnily enough for this one the OST version won't "drown" like what I'd saved, but it happened when the effects at 0:26, 0:29 would kick in.

I'd wager these three have things in common, but I don't want to sound like a fool wrongly describing music technicalities. I mean I could try recording the sound with my phone if necessary though I'm not sure it will help much.

It means that you used Google's password manager to save a password (this happens every time you get a pop-up from Google asking if you want to save your password and you click yes), and they found that password along with any other login credentials were hacked and are now floating on the dark web (probably)
If you don't care about routerlogin.net, this is no issue, unless you used a password and an e-mail that you use for everything else. Because then, anyone who obtains your breached login credentials can use them to try to login to any service, and if it works now they have your account (that has no connection to routerlogin.net whatsoever, apart from you using the same login credentials)
So basically, if you both don't care about your account on routerlogin.net and you are not logged in with the credentials you use anywhere else, you don't need to care. Otherwise, you should change your passwords (that are identical to the breached one). You can check exactly what the login that was breached is, by simply looking at your saved passwords in Google's password manager.
Also, fundamental internet security tip, don't use the same password for multiple services

Otherwise, you should change your passwords (that are identical to the breached one). You can check exactly what the login that was breached is, by simply looking at your saved passwords in Google's password manager.
Also, fundamental internet security tip, don't use the same password for multiple services

Not very. If you try both I think you'll find btrfs is more practical for home users. ZFS is good for corpo use cases where they have regular hardware purchases and fixed lifecycle, but for home the 'just buy a new array' solution to scaling gets old really fast.

Is there any firewall program for Windows that would allow me to blacklist a whole folder? I'm fine with having to manually run a rescan for any new EXEs that appear there

I'm trying to figure out the best way to word this.
>Got old 2015 MacBook pro from friend
>Put Linux on it, all is good
>Decide to put windows on it so I can use clone hero for my drum kit
>Windows on Mac doesn't detect sound drivers or anything
>Look it up that it's an architecture issue with Macs of that time period
My question is, if I got a USB soundcard for the Mac would windows on it pick that up and allow for audio to go through that?

I'm pretty sure they don't sell USB sound cards, but usb DACs are a thing and it's likely that will work. If you're using physical instruments its probably worth it for the sound quality and/or mixing ability anyway.

On the internet it is, yes. That's why it's called "the internet" instead of "the TCP"

So the IP functions together with the HTTP, but the TCP has nothing to do with IP?
If so, does that mean that programs that use TCP don't use my "IP address"? Or is that a term we use for anything that servers that purpose, even if it has nothing to do with the internet protocol

Can anyone identify this connector? From it's position, I think it's for an optical drive but I've never seen those in what appears to be SATA? Back when I used them it was all molex connectors and stuff...
