/btg/ BOOT GENERAL - PEOPLE WHO WORK EDITION

What do I need to care for my boots?
>Old cotton t shirt (one for cleaning, another for applying conditioners)
>Horsehair brush ($10-15)
>Wooden shoe trees ($10-15)
>Light conditioner like Lexol/Bck4/renovateur
>Heavy conditioner (if you live in terrible snow/rain areas) Sno seal/Obernauf LP
>Don't forget that boots need time to dry properly, rotate them and rest them

How do I deal with x stain?
>mud: allow it to dry then brush off
>salt: water and cloth as soon as possible
>saturated wet: allow the boot to dry for a full day, stuff with newspaper
>scuffs and scratches: buff vigorously with horsehair brush

>Should I buy turdsdays/soloshits/doc shitans?
No they are filled with synthetic materials aimed at instant comfort but will not hold up to actual use.
>b-b-but muh ecelebs on youtube said they're good
no. you will waste your time and money and still have uncomfortable footwear at the end of the day. spend the extra $100 and get something real.
>Are Thursdays any good?
no.

The chukka is the coolest and manliest shoe in existence. Chelsea boots are too feminine and gay, if you wear sneakers you need to grow up, oxfords and derbys are boring, service boots make it look like you are compensating, loafers are for twinks that take it from the behind. Nothing gives you the cool, rugged, masculine, but also put together appearance like a nice suede chukka.
Chukkas. Are. King.

Thoughts on Astorflex from Huckberry?
I dig the moc toe suede chukka look, but I don't know if I can trust the brand. Only thing that gives red flag is the memory foam insole, but that can be replaced eventually can't it?

AGAIN (I already told you): they are an artisanal workshop, not a catalogue of premade fixed unmodifiable models like Red Wing and White’s. They do whatever they want and satisfy the demands of the customers and retailers they work for. This is the highest degree of quality you could possibly want, in the past it was the key of success for a manufacturer of goods.

From a different store:
>Stivale chukka a tre occhielli in morbido camoscio marrone chiaro con cucitura norvegese sulla vaschetta, fodera interna e soletta interna in pelle, suola marrone in para. Realizzato in Italia.
>Three-eyelet chukka boot in soft light brown suede with Norwegian stitching on the vamp, leather lining and leather insole, brown crepe sole. Made in Italy.

Same as what I wear in the winter, plus my Astorflex suede boots. I need to get a pair of jodhpur or Chelsea boots for summer as well.

Regarding feet being hot in the summer: Once the temps and humidity get high enough, your feet will be hot no matter what you wear. Grab wool socks and put Gold Bond ultra strength powder in your boots. The socks will wick away moisture, the powder will dry it up and when the menthol kicks in it feels like an Arctic breeze on your feet. I use the powder on my balls and ass too, eliminates any sweating and odor even after a 12hr shift.

>>18368383
I love mine. Comfortable and well made, they've held up well over the past two years.

>>18369257
>Chinese makers are some of the best.

Grant Stone is a good example,Luosjiet boots are well made but they're all blatant rips of existing designs. Acting like a boot is good or bad simply because it was made in a certain country is pointless, there's plenty of trash made in the US, Italy, etc. Evaluate a brand on its own merits.

Today's boot: Truman Uplands in coach rambler. Glad I grabbed a pair before the brand imploded. Great color, way easier to work with than I initially expected.

/fa/gs, I need boots that are lightweight and comfortable like sneakers, and can be used for some short runs.
I'm used to a service boot but I'm looking for something like a tacticool boot, I was also advised Danner 917 fits like a sneaker.
I know quality will suffer and I don't care for longevity as much as it being lightweight.

Depends on the budget and what you're looking for. I'm going to assume these will be for casual use. Dan Post is great especially for the money, Lucchese is still good. Tecovas is good, I've heard good things about Rios of Mercedes as well.
I have zero issue buying cowboy boots made in Mexico, beaners fucking love cowboy boots and they can actually make a solid pair that holds up.

If you just want to try the style out, you can look around on eBay for any of those brands, or get older miUSA models from Justin, Ariat, Nocona, etc and they'll be well made too.

The issue is sizing, it really helps to be able to try boots on in person or be prepared to go through a couple of returns to get your sizing right. If you have a Boot Barn, Shepler's, Cavenders or any decently sized western apparel store near you just take a couple of hours and go try as much shit on as possible. Also remember that exotics like python don't stretch the same way regular leather will.
If you've got any specific questions I'll do what I can to help.

Danner Tachyons fit what you're looking for. I've personally done a few jogs and sprints in them and they're comortable and light. Very sneaker like. The soles can be pretty slippery in wet conditions though. Take your regular brannock size. Tie the ends of the paracord laces to prevent them from splipping through the speed lace loops when taking off your boots.

I've also tried Beleville Minimalist training boots. Love the outsoles on those (probably my favorite tactical boot outsole) but couldn't get the sizing right and the heel counter is synthetic, never breaks in, and digs into my ankles. I really wish they'd redesign those.

Red Wing moc toe has the best shape, hands down. It also has the heritage, it's literally the original moc toe boot. And it's American and made in America. The choicewould be clear, except that Grant Stone uses more leather in contruction, including leather modsole and heel stay.

If you aren't a desk bound twink faggot and did some actual work or went outside to nature instead of your local gloryhole you'd be able to piece together on your own why a higher boot shaft is better.

Pretend the shaft of the boot is like the shaft of the cock you so desperately crave, bigger is better.
Anonymous 01/21/25(Tue)19:24:51 No.18372818
Desert boots aren't boots and I'm tired of having to pretend like they are.

A boot is defined as a sturdy piece of footwear that covers the ankle and often the lower leg.
A desert boot is neither. It's soft and flexible, not sturdy. And it stops at the ankle, it doesn't go high enough to support it.
I'm not saying desert boots are bad, but they're more like a tennis shoe or a loafer than a boot and should be treated as such. Calling them chukkas is fine, that's a great word and unique to them.

Thank you for coming to my Ted talk. I got drunk last night and bid on a pair of Thursday boots because I thought it was funny at the time, no one else bid and I won the auction. Now I have a pair or suede Chelsea boots that I spent $25 on coming this weekend. If they're shit I won't be mad, here's hoping I can at least make them work for a couple of fits.

I also bought my own brannock device so I can measure my feet myself instead of going to a store and having to deal with retards. I need to put a breathalyzer on my phone, it would curtail my shopping habits and texts I send.

Okay. I always thought Grant Stone was priced appropriately for the quality, but it sounds like I was wrong and they were punching above their price.
Are they a good value still or should I go up to the 500 USD range?

Is the mini Vibram sole decent? I'm guessing it is since it's Vibram but still, just checking.
