posting this because I’m tired of sitting on it..
I’m part of a specialized cave exploration team. Our job is to explore caves we localize based on ancient texts and documents. If we find anything unusual and safe, we secure it. Otherwise, we call in a secondary team trained to handle potentially hazardous objects.

Recently, we were in the Antarctic. Our instructions led us to a fissure. After descending for a while, we found a chamber. We ran our usual checks for stability and proceeded.

At the center was a statue that looked like a typical grey alien. It was made of polished stone, and its eyes weren’t black, as you might expect.. they were white and shaped like eggs.

One of our team heard something - a hum, almost like a vibration.. but none of the rest of us did. This happens sometimes - Sensitivity varies, and some artifacts have subtle energy signatures that interact with biological systems. The secondary team then took over, packed the statue, and left without saying a word.

The locations we explore are part of a larger, structured network. We’ve found these places all over the world: Brazil, Mexico, Nigeria, Germany, U.S, even Russia. Accessing sites in Russia is particularly challenging. If Russian authorities discovered us, it would cause serious repercussions. Russia operates without the ancient texts our team has access to, so when they find these locations it’s usually by accident, not organized effort.
