the purpose of religion, is it just a big cope

So. We have all kinds of religions, which one is true which one is false? Can you even measure the validity of a religion, or does it all boil down to subjectivity in the end? That is my first question

But it all seems to point to the fact that we live in a cruel world with a lot of suffering, and in order to cope with this fact we have to invent new religions, The religions you see today all claim to have some solution to the problem of suffering and how to combat evil

For the christians it's jesus christ, and believing in him and serving jesus

for the buddhist it is to meditate and reduce yourself to a plant-human hybrid lifeform

But in the end it is all just like a coping mechanism. And these belief systems will make you somewhat schizophrenic, you cannot enjoy life to the fullest extent if you're a christian and you're waiting for jesus christ to come back. You've made it so that everything hinges on this figure, everything depends on a person
it's just a big dick sucking contest

the help that god gives you never actually comes no matter how much you beg for it.
but we must cope. that's the problem

you can actually feel pretty good about your existence through religion so its not all mumbo jumbo.
Does it solve all of your problems? probably not but will it lessen your suffering and teach you a thing or two about yourself and your spiritual needs? absolutely. Dont blame the tool but the user. Protip most christians never red the bible, go figure that one out

yes but it's like that quote, religion is the opium for the masses

it provides a beautiful little illusion or story that you can live your life by, if you're lost then it is easy to find religion helpful. And on the plus side you may find friends that way. It's not bad, it's not harmful, it can be slightly harmful if you believe in something that will never come to pass.

All im saying is it's cope, and cope has a negative conotation especially on 4chan, the word cope signals that you're clinging to some belief only that it makes you feel better. but we must cope. that's the problem

No human being in this world isn't trying to cope. everyone does it i do to, my whole text is me trying to cope also

I can only be sure of what i'm experiencing. But you're right

i've seen NDE videos, there seems to be an afterlife, and many different realms outside this earth plane.

But where we truly end up after death is truly a mystery for each one of us, we might end up in different places

why i am a human being and not just some bug is also a great mystery.

I mean, i just try to work with what you have written here step by step.

>you cannot enjoy life to its fullest
People who turn to christ arent burdned by the rulesets imposed on them.

>the help that god gives you never actually comes no matter how much you beg for it

God is not your personal magician.
Religion gives you tools to fullfill your own wishes and desires.

>its all a cope
Is it cope if it works?
Am i coping despite archieving exactly that what i set out for through god and religion?

This is why I am a member of [my religion]. It helps deal with all the bullshit caused by [your religion/s]. It gives me solace and comfort in times of tribulation, and it helps me to be [choose one: happy, good, based, cool, holy]. It doesn't have any of the problems caused by [your religion/s]. Praise [my object of worship]!

There is this thing called mystical insight which reveals truths to you. Some people are naturally inclined for such things, others discount such as some mental condition, schizophrenia, delusions, etc.
Speaking from my own experience, I used to do drugs, and that allowed my mind to perceive stuff that I couldn't normally. Then I sobered up and did spiritual practices such as yoga, meditation, lucid dreaming, magic rituals, with the purpose of opening my mind up to perceptions that I had discovered were possible. After some months, I got results in that regard. At first they weren't particularly compelling, but were sufficient to give me some hope in what I was doing.
Eventually, things got to the point where they became undeniable. I found an entire spiritual realm which exists parallel to our own, that many explore through consciousness, and that some live in entirely as consciousness. I've investigated its history as well as possible, finding out stuff about myself and mankind of a mystical nature. I interrogated many spiritual entities about the state of things, questions about spirits, angels, god, aliens, and found answers to some of my questions.
I've met many entities from many spiritual traditions, such as Buddha, Kali, Saraswati, Paul, Eve, Satan, Jesus, Uriel, Gabriel, Samael, Tezcatlipoca, Ptah, Semyaza, Artemis, Sophia, Odin, Enki, Apep, as well as various Jinn, and alien groups such as Pleiadians, Sirians, Orions, Lyrians, Andromedans, Arcturians, Zeta Reticuli, Martian, Saturnian. I've seen some stranger stuff too.
The point is, its all real, but its not all physical to this dimension. Some of these physically interacted with our dimension at some point, some incarnation, but they are still available outside this realm within the spirit world. You won't really understand any of this unless you can see that dimension. To you, its cope, but not to those who see it, and interact with it.

Mr zoraster says in the picture : hey op don't focus on finger (buddism, christlamisms, hindoo) but actually look at the bright star over there.

to put it succintly, Mr.zoraster was a simple sun gazer, sun/star appreciator. No rituals or preplanned embellishments to his direct approach. Now forget about him and actually look. Secret hidden in plain sight.

Just look at how elaborate the laws of physics are. The level of mathematical sophistication and foresight evident in particle physics. And how those laws are rich enough to support the evolution of vast ecosystems teaming with diverse lifeforms. Clearly it was all designed by a superintelligence of some kind. But why? So that we can experience 100 years of unfulfillment only to wither away into nothingness, all our efforts wasted and forgotten? No, that doesn't make any sense. This mortal life can only be a crucible in which our souls are formed in preparation for something much greater.

I'd like to make an analogy between human beings, belief systems, and software..mkay.

Your brain is like a big massive complicated computer machine, and when you subscribe to a religion, by believing in it, you are downloading code that alters your behavior of your machinery. You now follow certain traditions and moral values that you wouldn't do without religion. But see you sacrifice something when you download a new operating system to your computer. You no longer behave the same way when you turned to christ or buddha, you are using like a very popular operating system (a popular religion) and you lose your individuality and all your personal flaws in order to fit some weird ideal. It's not natural, it's all made up nonsense but you choose this nonsense over your previous nonsense. And all of it was because you are coping. when you were free from religion you had your own individuality, you asked yourself questions in order to find solutions to your problem, but now that you're a christian, you obey whatever the bible says or your favorite christian preacher says.

It's all cope.

It cannot ever not be cope.

stop coping, it doesn't work.
Go back to your religious free, innocent and childlike self

My thoughts overlapped with the christianity and its spiritual teachings before said spiritual teachings had any effect on me. It only got apmlified the more i learned about them. As someone else in this thread already told you, there are some natural inclinations toward specific theories, philosophies, religions and groups. In my case its christianity. The only one coping (unsucessfully) is you

well. Look. I take it back. If anyone sees this and is religious i dont want to scrutinize your beliefs too much because the beautiful thing about religions is that they emphasize moral behavior. Treat others the way you want to be treated. This is the golden rule or whatever it's called.

We have to look for the golden thread. We can't stare blindly at the religious texts and say that this is absolute fact
we have to zoom out and gain insight, i'm all for religious or spiritual insights

i'm also working on learning how to astral project, ive had unsuccessful attempts but i defeintely felt my astral body almost completely leave

i'm a true mega schizohead i browse /x/ all the time but i just want to emphasize that religions in themselves are a good starting point for finding truth but there seems to be a lot more to uncover that goes way beyond what we've been taught

From the point of view of reason, these are the three monotheistic religions (which in fact are only one).

It entirely depends on what you are trying to archive. Different religions or practices give you different approaches. I consider christianity to be very versatile. You have everything from philosophy to mysticism. Different religions or sects may have different approaches that are more suited to your personal needs so just keep experimenting and searching. There is no true and tried best way to get what you want, the searching is your own burden.

>the purpose of religion,

The purpose of religion was originally a communications protocol for talking to spirit entities in a now forgotten age of the gods, only remembered in ancient myths and sagas. Today religion is nothing more than gang membership and scams.

All the big religions are fucked. There's a core of truth and reality, but through the years so much nonsense, groupthink etc gets in.

I do a basic Buddhist practice of following three perfections : kshanti (patience), virya (vigor), prajna (wisdom) and I meditate on a number of koans

I would rather believe in a religion than some random guy on the internet. I've been down your road before. All it does is leave you questioning even the questions. It's self referential loops that go on for infinity.

And then you experience life in the heart and not the head and it's a lot more pleasant. I don't care to craft rhetorical arguments about everything. I don't care about being "right".

I'm thinking because none of our ideas are ultimately all that accurate, and reality itself is expansive beyond a single idea of its existence. If we had some ultimate ideology that would become a type of idol that we elevate above other things, but it seems to me that we are supposed to continue expanding our minds and growing in our awareness of an infinite mystery, which forever leads us onwards, but stands a hair outside our grasp. We aren't meant to be in a static state where we believe we know everything, we are meant to push beyond the boundaries of the known world into ever deeper mysteries of existence.

the fact that you non believers have to put so much effort into non believing is surely proof that there's something greater than us and you're terrified of that and thus must cope to deal with it. If it wasn't real and it was all cope you wouldn't worry so much about it.

Religion is a pacifying pill the rich give to plebs so they don't use magick to even the score, thus it follows, you gotta burn the witch and magick is forbidden in religion. The gods and spirits of competitors are vile demons for your perdition, of course.
