I mean DS9's storylines over 7 seasons covered more quadrants of the galaxy (3) than any of the other early series (i.e. mostly 1 quadrant for Voyager, and mostly 2 for the others), which for a show that was 'stuck on a space station' was a pretty impressive achievement that almost nobody foresaw.

But the majority of that " box " is totally empty. All the shots when someone watches through a window etc. just gives the station a small scale. More like its just a slightly bigger ISS instead of a space station worth the name. Like the Starfleet main stations.
