It's slowly approaching, winterbrehs. You gonna go out and do something in the snow?

I keep wanting to go and have a two or three day stay in a rented snowy cabin in the mountains and just play old vidya from when I was happier, and go for walks. But I don't think I'm gonna cuz I'm a lazy piece of shit. And very tired.

But here's some encouragement to anyone who wants to go out and do something wintery. You deserve it.

Yeah, Netherlands is fucked in that way. I wonder which EU country has some nice snowfall that you don't have to go into the heart of the mountains to experience it. I'm thinking Austria but even when I was looking at webcams last year there was barely any snow in Austrian towns in December.

Snowfall does pick up in January but I was hoping I could get a snowy Christmas somewhere urban.

PS: same situation in Romania, we used to have big-ass snowfall when I was younger and then it all started to go downhill. Now we're lucky if we get a couple of days of heavy snowfall then it melts into dogshit :(

In Europe? Maybe look at Austria or Finland, but neither of those places have that "big city covered by snow" feel to them. I don't think you're getting that unless you're in New York (a shithole to live in but I'd give my left nut to live a snowy November-February in there) or Chicago.

But in Europe I'm not so sure. I think Kiev had this kind of snow but you know, they're having some trouble.

I live in Moscow, and I haven't been to many places. But once I fell in love with a girl who lives almost at the end of the world. It was my first airplane flight in my life. The flight crossed nine time zones. The relationship didn't work out, and we ended up breaking up. But I saw the beauty of the area, and I don't regret it one bit. The city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky is located in the bay, around which are snowy hills and volcanoes. It is better to see it in real life.

While technically in the spring, it snowed when I was staying in the blue mountains of Colorado. 9000 feet in the air. Never seen such snow or experienced such bliss.

I remember when I was a kid, I chose to walk home from a friends house after a sleepover. His mom told me to wake her up so she could take me home, but I lived in the neighborhood right across so it wasn’t far at all. I was about 10 or 11. I was walking on the street around 7 in the morning, it was snowing and quite cold out. We had just gotten dumped on a few days before, lots of snow everywhere. Completely covering cars, roofs and trees, like a big fluffy blanket. As I stepped on the freshly fallen snow, I heard and felt the crunch and squeak of the snow on my feet. I stopped. I took notice how beautiful the snow was and how peaceful it was. All I could hear was the slight whistling of the gentle wind in the distance. I thought, “wow, this is beautiful. I love winter”

Can't say that there's this one grandiose moment that made me realize winter is the GOAT season. I've always liked it and always dreamt and still dream of heavy snowfall, Christmas trees and all around general goodness.

I guess the best times of my life happened at winter time. Winter break from school, people not leaving like they would for summer break, good food, sweets and all that. It used to be so magical.

Nowadays, not as much of course. Adulthood is ass. But I can still pretend I'm a kid when it's snowing outside.

Almost 20 years ago I was in Austria during the winter with a group of people, we went skiën in the mountains. I had experience but the people I was with not so much so they took lessons.
I went out by myself and ended up on a patch where there were nothing else but trees, the sun, a blue sky and loads of snow.
I sat down on this fallen tree and heard absolutely nothing. Never encountered such a moment again in my life,

A quick search for "Timber Lane Medical Center" and I found it quickly, it's in Vermont. Neat how the "North Woods Cafe" sign is almost completely blocked out by the snow.

Sadly, it looks like the tree on the left side either fell over or got cut down for utility work. One of the gas signs also isn't working. Hope anon didn't make the hour trip in the snow.

A little snow can make ordinary things and places look pretty interesting I guess.
