I love the lore and art but those dev games are tedious to play
What's going to be the story for this one?

the story, ah yeah.
it is about a young prince who has been turned in to skeleton. you must go on a journey to release his curse and on the way you meet new people who will become loyal friends.
you will travel through forests and mountains. visit interesting villages which all have their own stories to tell

Hopefully they fix the combat. That was the one aspect of EL that made an excellent game merely great.

>Only 6 factions on launch when ES2 and EL1 both had 8 (EL1 was even an indie game, so they can't use the excuse of loss-of-publisher)
>Speaking of, they were just dropped by their publisher for releasing DEIslop in Humankindwhich wasn't actually that bad a game and Endless Dungeon which actually was that bad a game
but
>gimmick is Ocean planet that's suffering strange permanent drops in sea level that constantly expands the available map size
>they still have FlyByNo on the OST
if they just copypaste Humankind's combat onto EL1's civ-building the game is already great, they just have to not repeatedly fuck up like they've been doing for years

I'm cautiously optimistic. Especially if they continue with the ost bangers.

They opened their insider program again, so it looks like they are trying to get player feedback before they release anything. Sounds like they might be trying to avoid another Humankind.

I tried playing Endless Space 2 several times, but I just couldn't get into it. I also didn't like that every race had the exact same technologies and buildings you could build. Playing as that insectoid race that literally devours planets and building an entertainment center like everyone else just seems weird. Did Endless Legend have this problem too?

You're legitimately braindead if you think ES or EL factions play alike. How different each faction plays is basically Amplitude's calling card, especially when compared to the main 4X Civilization where 90% of Civs are identical except for a building or unit. That's actually why people hated Humankind's civ-swap system: it made everyone play the same. I really don't know why you're getting hung up on the same tech tree. I'm assuming Stellaris has separate tech trees and that's what you're used to? Or Total Warhammer.
Really, you should have instead been filtered bythe ultra autistic ship/soldier customization that goes into minmaxing ES2's shitty combat system and EL's REALLY shitty combat system. Ditching that shit was Humankind's single best feature

I'm not complaining about the races, but rather the buildings you could construct in systems. I briefly played the Cravers, the tree people, the Sophons, the umbral choir, and the Empire. It doesn't make sense to me that I could construct that beginning transport building for every race. Its just strange to me, I thought each race would have unique buildings they could construct in their systems that would give different benefits.
The combat system ultimately made me stop playing, but it was just small things like what I mentioned that also took me out of it. I was asking if Endless Legend was different in that each race has its own unique set of buildings. And I made a mistake by mentioning the technology, because I know each race gets a few unique ones. I was mainly talking about the buildings, which may seem autistic to hyperfocus on, but it was weird building an entertainment building as the cravers or a stock market for the umbral choir.

Humankind genuinely pissed me off so badly that I have no confidence in Amplitude anymore, despite making some of my favorite 4x games of all time.
What the FUCK were they thinking? Like genuinely, who greenlit anything about that steaming pile, from the idea of switching civs every era (meaning your playthroughs have no identity) to the artstyle to the way cities grow.
Just about the only thing I really did like was the way they handled armies and battles, allowing 4+ units in a stack so you can come up with interesting army compositions and playing out combat with 3 battle turns per actual turn.

seriously disappointing that it's this random planet instead of auriga
I feel like there was such huge potential to explore the ancient past of auriga
imagine playing during the war, with a religion system that lets you call on ancient alien godlike entities

I'm personally looking forward to Arnaud Roy (flybyno) making variants to Space's music like he did with Flawless Theory.

I personally chalk it up to sega meddling
>>701036353
It could set up the idea the planet is a member of the Lost, like how Auriga and Koyasil (Unfallen tree people planet) are.

If they just take EL1 and
>replaced the turn based to be true turn based and not up to the AI's discretion
>re balance winter so it's not a slog
I would buy this game for $70 day one no questions asked, anything else is a bonus for me

That would be a tremendous mistake if they removed winter. Even if it isn't Auriga anymore having seasons play a role in how you plan out the next move was nice.

>In the heart of the award-winning ENDLESS™ Universe, explore this new planet battered by shifting seasons and monstruous tidefalls that radically transform the world, forcing you to anticipate and adapt
Not sure if the "shifting seasons" part is marketing talk or if it's actually going to feature summer/winter or spring/summer/fall/winter

Back in Space 2 a majority of civs disliked living on cold, sterile planets. The exception to that was the Riftborn. If seasons are implemented it'll probably be minor buffs/bonuses depending on the species living there, assuming they'll keep the population aspect of 2.

Alas, a thread for a niche series on a fast board like this isn't designed to last. /vst/ has a thread up for the reveal if this thread dies.
