Just got pic related and I have never played it before. What are some good strategies to winning scenarios? Getting hundreds of people into my park at ONCE seems incredibly hard.
Any friendly advice?

I used to play this as a kid and obviously sucked. A few years ago I got it on Steam, spent 12 hours straight on it and managed fuck all, still I had a good time.
If anybody can answer your question I might revisit it at some point and get more out of it again

Just have fun, build flat rides and only splash the cash on a big coaster when you have enough money to burn

To get/keep people in your park you need to effectively be in a constant state of development, good footpath systems help as well to make it easy for people to get around all over, distribute food/drinks/bathrooms evenly (can even charge <$1 for restrooms and get away with it). As another anon mentioned, people will pay pretty much anything for an umbrella when it rains. When people think that a ride is a really good value, that means you should increase the price to ride. Rollercoasters with a good excitement/nausea/intensity ratio are the best for bringing in and retaining guests. Learn how to design custom coasters through experimentation.

Make sure paths are always 1 tile in width. Guest pathing gets confused if they can't just walk in a straight line. Junctures are fine. Building new rides is what draws more guests in and increases the park capacity. You'll make more money charging per ride than a flat entrance fee. You can look up how to calculate a good price for each ride, it's not that hard and you don't have to be too exact about it. Try to have ATM's in the park if the scenario gives them to you. It lets people spend more money than they carry. Also, have fun. This game is great.

Tricks to break the game are building small rollercoasters and raising prices of amenities such as umbrella just before it starts raining, this game really rewards you playing like a fucking jew.

This only applies when you're forced to make your park pay fir entrance only. In pay for rides park you want to throw atms everywhere and make sure your guests stay for all time.

The most important advice you need to know is that you can charge WAY more for rides and park entry than the default price the game suggests.
For some reason it's not uncommon for the base price set on rides to be like 20%-30% of what you can actually charge for the rides, and this results in you getting way less money that you should. Just increasing the price of all your rides makes the game infinitely easier to the point where it feels like a joke. If you actually charge close to the max price you can get away with for rides it's like an infinite money cheat.

I hate this fuck so much after playing Open RCT2, not that it's his fault.
>Host maps for people to join
>Inevitably someone joins and starts backseating like crazy (Yelling at people for playing the game "wrong", or messing with other people's stuff)
>Call them out and tell them to let people play how they want
>They say that they've watched Marcel Vos, which supposedly gives them the authority to control how everyone else plays
>Every single time without fail they actually suck at the game and only understand garbage at a surface level because it's clear all their knowledge just comes from remembering 1 or 2 things from a Marcel Vos video, usually incorrectly

Having more rides attracts more people to your park. You can look up the specific mechanics of this, but the basic idea is you should be building more rides with more variety being generally better.
Building custom rides is the best part of the game. Early on your custom rides will probably suck but that's okay as they'll attract people to the park even if no one wants to ride them.
If your rides are too intense, put the ride in test mode and look for where the vertical/lateral Gs spike and then try and alleviate the Gs in those areas.
Hire more handymen.

I would argue that this is the worst thing to do. Don't go watch something that ruins the mysticism of Rollercoaster Tycoon. That's for people who have torched the game for 20 years of gameplay.
The correct thing to do is just build rides. People come when you have rides. If you are having trouble getting people, grow. Build a ride, make a nice looking path, put it in a themed section, have some shops in a good-looking section, etc. Just play the game. The people come when you do the stuff you should be doing while playing. Don't try to peel back the surface and look at the inner mechanics too hard because the game has been deconstructed and reconstructed for almost 30 years.
It's not a hard game, so if you fail, don't dote on it. Just restart the level and play. 99% of failures are because you were building something new outside of pause and it took you too long. Experiment however you want with placing stuff in the earlier maps (or just experiment in a park after winning). It really, really isn't a hard game, trust me.

depends on what you like, as well.
i prefer to figure out the finer details of coaster building, so that i can understand and excel at making actual designs, incorporating pathways and scenery in to the overall excitement rating.
i love pushing those stats in the track designer (i wish it could have all scenery, too), but the actual game isn't so fun for me, now, as it was back when i was a kid.

Well, you do at least need to know that your handymen should never mow the lawn. It doesn't do anything mechanically, and if you allow your handymen to do it, they will devote their lives to mowing and never do any of the actual important jobs.

No idea if this works in RCT1/2 scenarios, but in RCT3:
>Immediately pause the game
>Get rid of all the extra paths around the park and just have one area of path at the entrance (if the park is already full of people, then you need to put up "no entry" signs everywhere and leave the paths until people have gone back to the entrance)
>Sell every piece of scenery for extra money
>Sell every ride that doesn't have a high excitement rating or has a high nausea rating
>Build everything in one small area around the park entrance so I don't have to hire as much staff
That worked for almost every scenario.
