I beat Astro Bot 100% like three times and I have to confess I have zero interest in returning to it anytime soon.

As fun as it was my biggest issue was that there was zero challenge anywhere. Yes, you die often, but there's no penalty.

It really doesn't deserve "game of the year" on anyone's list, the only reason I find Astro Bot remarkable at all is because Sony hasn't had any good first-party output in decades. It's a mascot platformer for Playstation as a whole and it's especially dire in light of every single IP shown off in Astro Bot being cryogenic storage, on top of claiming a whole metric fuckton of stuff that isn't actually "Playstation" like Okami and Gex.

You know the funniest one of all of them? Okami, actually, having an Amaterasu themed robot. Because that game sold like shit on Playstation and the only thing that secured Okamiden as a project on the DS was the Wii port.
