>damn this is great Half-Life still really is that bitch

>on-screen text: ON A RAIL

Taking a break right now cause you don't want to be sitting down doing one thing for a prolonged amount of time. There was a lot of kerfuffle about them revamping Xen but did they improve On a Rail at all or is this one I should crack open some bears for?

It's been a while since i played Black Mesa but I remembered On A Rail being way shorter and less boring in Black Mesa than in the original

On a rail is worse because now you can't leave the car alone, you have to babysit it to unlock certain doors.

Isnt it the opposite? Im pretty sure they de-electirifed the rails for this exact reason
Also I get really tired of those army niggers constantly screaming "YOU GOT NOTHING" in my ear, do they really only have like 3 taunts

What's wrong with On A Rail? I thought it was a fun chapter

All this tells me is that the one in Black Mesa curtailed it which is by any metric an improvement.

On a Rail got completely revamped to be more linear, but has more moments where you actually play the game before hopping back onto the cart and continuing. It's a lot shorter and doesn't overstay its welcome which is the exact opposite of Xen.

You could always get off the cart and stick to the sides. Traversing the place was ass by foot but it was technically an option. Funny enough, Black Mesa remove the electrifying rails so you can walk freely without killing yourself.

The hate for On A Rail was always dumb. It was a good level and underground rail stations are comfy.

Xen would be so much better if they just cut some segments down, the intigue began to wear off around the point I was crossing a massive lake and shooting a bunch of branch shit and I was constantly just asking when I would get to Gonarch's Lair

On a Rail is so fucking overblown. You ride the tram in a loop twice and then you move on, following a linear path with a few stops along the way. It's not hard, it's not confusing, it's not even boring. It's just a bit repetitive. The fucking Library in Halo is like 10x worse, and even that doesn't feel like a chore
Anonymous 01/22/25(Wed)19:05:19 No.700961521
>>700961367
And then it somehow gets worse when you do arrive, because the fucking Gonarch fight goes on for what feels like an hour

Most people are genuine retards, as Valve playtesters have you know.

On a Rail is fine, it got revamped to be more linear.
Xen is significantly better than the original, yet still the worst part of the game. It's just that the game slightly dips in quality rather than "you might as well stop playing after Lambda Core."

>get master's degree
>get relevant job in field
>have to become intimately familiar with water system, electrical system, various pressures and vacuums, drainage, and a whole spectrum of spectrometers in order to maintain a robot
>bulk of job involves telling the robot it did a good job or a bad job

Half-Life was so realistic in the way I never expected.
