Gay romance options isn't a problem so long as the characters aren't getting flirty with you unless you make it abundantly clear that you're aiming for that route. Only thing I'm worried about is in the town building part, it seems like you assign NPCs to stores and change them to whatever shopkeeper you want them to be? I've only played Portia but I heard Sandrock's a huge improvement across the board so I'll let other anons shill you on that one. It's much more focused on crafting, farming almost doesn't exist and combat is just mashing one button. I liked it enough but I got sick of mining halfway through the game. Story and characters are fine, there isn't as much dialogue or events as SoS/RF, or maybe I just never got close enough to anyone. Never saw any romance dialogue and never bothered to romance anyone, everyone's playersexual but there are some people who can kinda hook up (straight) if you let them.
