This movie is one of my favorite comedies and I have forced multiple friends to watch it. Unfortunately the DVD and most of the online copies are the unrated version that removes the epilogue with James Franco and a lot of funny ADR'd dialogue ("you're breaking my legs!"). Last time I watched it I didn't realize this until we almost got to the end and I was pissed.
The Angelo Badalamenti is unironically a banger too.

Ghana and African countries can still progress well, and beyond the Indian levels. Atleast they don't have retarded caste system weighing them down

The most surreal thing about this movie is that a bunch of crazy malnourished bitches can overpower a man.

the original movie with saruman is more about actual paganism vs christianity and it has a more interesting commentary on the whole thing. it obviously leans towards christianity being right, but it also depicts the leader of the pagan cult as being very intelligent and clever, even if in an insidious way. ill always remember the line where christopher lee tells the christian detective 'you will be given a rare honor, that of martyrdom'. like thats some genuine mindfuckery right there. no no dont worry christian, I am merely helping you become a saint.
the nick cage movie is more like some absurd comedy about the conflict between feminism and men. the pagan cult in the remake isnt really based on any particular brand of paganism, unlike the celtic paganism of the original, theyre just sorta some weird bee cult that worships bees since theyre matriachal. nic cage also isnt very overtly christian, unlike the detective in the original movie, which makes his character and his conflict with the local cult much less interesting. when the detective finds an old churchyard, forgotten and overrun with weeds and pagan shrines, and he breaks one down and cries while making a shitty cross from some of the wood of a shrine, idk, I find that scene interesting. you can feel his frustration and pain at seeing his religion becoming forgotten and replaced with something strange and primal. even as a pagan I find the original movie very interesting and well crafted. I dont really care that it depicts paganism as spooky, it is spooky. i prefer that to softening it into some faggy wiccan shit

>it obviously leans towards christianity being right
on the contrary, it shows the main christian character as easily duped and his God indifferent to his plight. Screenplay was written by a Jewish guy btw.
