Remember when the director of Buzz Lightyear posted his Pixar rejection letter from the 90's with a caption " never give up" when Lightyear first premiered and then he was immediately fired because it flopped

can we have a thread about how literally every creative decision in that movie was entirely incorrect?

I'm happy to talk about it yeah
Zerg being an old buzz instead of his father is gay
The attempt to turn the plants that come out of the ground and grab you into a running gag was never funny
The premise that the entire thing is about people just getting stuck on a boring wilderness planet and the entire story is just 'how do we leave this awful place' sucks, boring, lame, too restricted

"Lesbians" (women pretending to be attracted to other women) should not be in movies, especially kids' movies, except as a cautionary moral tale, which wasn't the message this movie was trying to make by their inclusion.

I remember my sister got her first paid singing gig and was so excited. A couple drunk hecklers threw her off and she didn't sing well and wasn't invited back.

>Trying to make it a super serious Interstellar-style hard sci-fi time relativity paradox movie for bearded pseuds
>Not having a villian or space battles or aliens or friends or fun or color
>Not bringing back Tim Allen even though his voice sounds exactly the same as it did 30 years ago
>Trying to make it a “white man bad” movie with a plot where pretty much the only character present on screen for most of the film is a white man
>the bizarre, confusing and unnecessary framing device of “this is the movie that Andy saw as a boy in 1993 that made him want a Buzz Lightyear toy” when the film is obviously nothing like the type of sci-fi movies that came out in the early 90s, is nothing like the way Buzz Lightyear or his show is portrayed in Toy Story and doesn’t seem like the type of movie a 10 year old boy would like at all

This never happened, you just don't like that the writers suggested you can become the bad guy if you don't make the right choices in your life.

If I was Andy, or anyone in toy story world, and I watched a movie that looked that much better than my real, 1995 Pixar RenderMan life, I'd be so disillusioned that I'd kill myself.

The "This is the piece of media where the Buzz Lightyear toy came from in the Toy Story Universe " idea was always redundant because it had been done in the 90s already with the Star Command cartoon and movie

who was this movie for? they use the name of a popular character but it's obvious from the trailer that it really has nothing to do with toy story at all. I think that most people saw that it wasn't actually about the character they knew and then they weren't interested

I don't get why Buzz kept going forward in time. The first two times be did it the planet was thriving with a massive city and everyone was happy. Then he kept going forward becoming more depressed because his friends were all dead from old age.. then he eventually stops doing it and decides to start hanging with his friends kids..

Wtf plot is that lmao
