I've lived in New England almost my entire life. I've been bitten by thousands of ticks and dont have Lyme disease and I've only ever met one person who claimed to have Lyme disease. I'm not aware of any proof that it actually exists.

Sadly it's not uncommon nowadays to have patients with lyme carditis or neuro lyme. Which is crazy because just a few years ago I rarely saw anyone with lyme at all.
