Going skiing soon, am I a retard

Hello /out/, I decided to jump the gun and get a ski pass + lesson for this weekend then promptly realized I needed winter clothes since this center does not rent them out. So I got all this crap in Amazon, wondering if it looks retarded to those of you who ski often. I also got some The North Face snow gloves but those look rather good (posting pic later).
The jacket is probably shit, I wanted a Columbia interchange one but they wouldn't get here on time before I drive out. But it was just $33... I would imagine a rental for a day or two goes for around that much, so meh

These are the gloves I got, probably overkill.

Dont worry about your gear if you're resort skiing. Replace the gear that doesn't perform in stages. Bring dry clothes to change out if you need.
Good goggles might be expensive but give those a shot, they might work fine.
It's good to have a spare set of goggles.
Concentrate on your riding. Try to ski with style. Watch Candide vids and be like him.
Skiing is the shit, you chose wisely.

Thank you anon. Indeed I planned to bring a change of clothes. I was thinking also having my backpack with me with an extra pair of gloves, food, water, etc. Not like it's a survival situation, but why not.

If your rig is close you dont need to carry anything but it's good to have stuff if you aren't stopping.
Snow is still poor out West but I'm getting fired up. Just mounted the bindings on some fresh AT boards.

I don't even know what this is, haven't been skiing in at least 15 years. Where do I leave my stuff while I'm on the slopes? Do I get a locker or something when I rent the gear? I could use the car but I imagine it's out of the way

Leave the car ready to rock, find some place to leave your shoes while you ski.
Every place is going to be different, you'll figure it out.
If you're really new at this, keep in mind that the first day will probably be the worst day. If you can enjoy and get past the first day you'll be alright.

I bought those Montana gloves for a relative in Eastern Washington. Theyre legit. Your fit looks great.
Also accept right now you will get passed by a good ole boy skiing in jeans. This happens in all gear sports like cycling, golf, ski.

morning autists
I indeed already went skiing and survived. It was really fun. I did a level 1 class to get a feel for it and remember some of the basics. About half the class were retardos but in the other half we were pretty comfortable and moved fast. Apparently many people just get like 10 mins of actual skiing in the baby slope in this class but we got like an hour, and after we went for an actual slope with that crew (the easiest). Did that like 10 times and then I tried the 2nd easiest and was promptly humbled when it took me like 10 mins to get down after eating so much shit.
The gear did very well. The Montana gloves are bulky but kept my hands dry. I also took some other gloves I have which were a lot more comfortable but not waterproof, I used them for a bit. The jacket was a fucking life saver for $33 man, it really did the job. The goggles were fine, the magnetic thingy is convenient to clean the inside. The pants are also very good but I think not 100% waterproof. Got my buttcheeks all wet in the chairlift.
I got a very proper helmet from the rental, pic related.

also I was happy to have taken my backpack with some stuff in it (water, a bit of food) so I wouldn't have to get in the huge lines at the resort. I don't think I really felt it during skiing. But parking was not far, so I might not do that next time and go chill in my car for a bit when needed.
Also I was warm as fuck and worked up a sweat a few times. But I did sit down outside for around 10 mins to have a gatorade and before I knew was really cold (I opened up my jacket). Just a good reminder to not understimate the cold. It was around 32F I think, and snowing.

old thread but outdoor master googles are the shit. similar quality to "nice" ones at half the price or less. after many pairs of googles over the years, I'll be sticking with these because there's no worse feeling than having to toss a pair when the foam seal no longer works for shit, cause then you've got constant fog and every ounce of wind goes straight to your eyes. also, you can get spare lenses for cheap, so it won't fuck your wallet to grab an extra lowlight lens for foggy/cloudy days. uncle tore his ACL skiing in the fog because he's a cheap fuck and wouldn't change his googles.

with the exception of park skiing wearing helmets does absolutely nothing for people who ski within their ability level, it merely supports a substantially higher carrying capacity for total Retards on the mountain, evidenced by the swarms of polyester and styrofoam helmets that plague the lift lines. Next time you're standing there for 30 minutes at the lift, ask yourself how many people around you would be there if they were allowed to hit their heads when skiing beyond their ability (for them that means at all)

You can always spot the tourists from the backpack. You don't need to carry a spare of anything, you are not going into the backcountry. At best you will ride the magic carpet on the beginner hill. You won't last all day out there but bring a few snacks in your pocket. Water is free at the lodge and a coffee is like $5.
Those of us who ski often - like a few times a week at the resort - only go weekdays and ski a few hours before leaving. We don't carry anything because food and drinks are left in the car. We ski non-stop until we leave. Weekend local skiers get to the resort an hour before opening to set up tailgating. Tourists from out of town are at the mercy of resort food and prices.

Have you considered that maybe the evil backpacker tourists are putting snacks in their backpack, to avoid the aforementioned resort food prices? And remind me when it became uncool to ski all day? Sounds like your fat ass is spending a little too much time tailgating in the parking lot. Retard.

Haha, what a fucking tool you are. What do you think you are going out into the backcountry? Going to pack your avalanche gear too? Or are you carrying a backpack for a sandwich and a few extra tampons?
You are the kind of shit skier with a backpack everyone stays away from, because we know you can barely ski. Your gear is shit, and you are a hazard on the slope. If you spent more than a few days a year skiing you wouldn't have to "go all day." Do everyone a favor a stick to skiing on major holidays with the other tourists. That's the only world your mind can fathom anyway.

Good Goggles, good Gloves and good Socks go a long way.
Helmets that match with your goggles are also really nice. Nice helmets usually have an air channel that blows down your glasses so they don't fog up.
But in general, just get out there. Sounds like your equipment is working for you for the most part.
