Are the tents from aliexpress any good?

The only things I buy on ali express are ryzen processors and knockoff watches. I have been looking at the pagani speedmaster that costs $60 and has a seiko quartz inside. It's $100 on amazon and $60 on ali express. I would buy their clothing though. Sauce zhan is supposed to make good jeans and tee shirts that are comparable to samurai or iron heart. I haven't heard of some chinese fjallraven knockoff making vidda pros for $50 though and I definately wouldn't trust a tent or multitool unless they are specifically a high quality brand who deliberately is trying to undercut at a decent quality level and 1/3rd the price rather than a complete unknown selling a tent for 1/20th the price.

Fuck china seriously. Sadly some stuff from the US is actually imported from china already plus the retarded US taxes.

It's a good tent if a lot smaller than I thought. I bought the 2-man but there's no way you'd fit 2 sleeping surfaces in there. The zips are also pretty bad - the idea of using a stove inside with the door even slightly closed would be the stuff of nightmares. In fact, I woke up imagining how fucked it would be to be grasping for that scratchy, raspy damn zip in the event of an alcohol stove falling over.

These things said, everything else is great. It's pretty lightweight, packs down well enough. The level of ergonomics involved in the design is very obvious in that it feels very easy to use.

Any recommendations on inflatable camping pillows? I am not as young as I used to be and having a dedicated pillow helps with sleep. A sleeping bag stuffsack filled with a fleece jacket just isn't the same.

multitools are great to have one in every car

nicknacks like rope, carabiners, tent pegs, repair parts
simple enough to no fuck up

tarps seem ok so if you check the stiching and reseal bad parts. but again as long the cloth is fine its fine over all.

The only Chinese tat I've ever bought was a fake Epiphone guitar and it played ok. I wouldn't trust anything to be real or quality. Just buy cheap and expect it to perform only a few times, if it lasts then it's a bonus.

Fair, but the low profile can be nice. Its a hiking tent, not a tent you carry in a car and then spend days in, so weight gains are important and the tent mostly matters for sleep.

Are you sure that you have that tent? I sleep with another person in it and there's still space for both our backpacks inside the tent. It's not super roomy, but 2 people can easily sleep in it.

The zips are decent and I"ve never had an issue with a gas burner in the door. Maybe not a Woodfire, but gas is no issue.

Again, that zip is perfectly fine for me, I'm seriously unsure if you got a different tent.

I suppose the zipper could just be you getting a bad one (QA is not the AliExpress seller's forte) but I don't see how you say it's too small for two people. What's your sleeping pad? I'm 184cm, the person I most often hike with is 192 cm we both have square pads (so not like they are ultra space saving) and we can put our backpacks between us or towards the feet. I'm super confused how you come to that cnclusion unless you have one if those giant car camping mattresses.

Are you sure you have the 2 person version? Did you ever measure it? Or could it be that the seller scammed you with a 1 person version? It's not unheard of on AliExpress and it'd perfectly explain the issue.

last week i broke these, the strap below the boot broke on one of them and i won't bother sewing it back. also i ripped the fabric a bit with the crampon.

this was after 5 or 6 uses. i was never happy with them, yes they were dirt cheap but also pretty terrible, didn't stay well adjusted by themselves and snow always found its way into the boot sooner or later.

has anyone found decent chinese gaiters? or do i have to spend 80$ on western brands

these have worked pretty well for me. The only main complaint is that the velcro is sorta brittle and will flake little pube-like fibers everywhere

I bought picrel from Amazon for a hog hunt Im going on and while they seem nice for the price they dont fit my legs. My calves are 18” in circumference at their widest point. Anyone know of hunting gaiters on the cheap end for larger calves?

I should add that I ordered size Large and there is an XL. The large needed at least another inch just to velcro and probably two inches to velcro comfortably. The size descriptions on Amazon appear to be off so I cant say if the XL would be big enough.

considering temps can get as low as -10*F, all the various affordable 0*F bags are out of consideration.
thing is, there are only a select few of -10*F down bags that are within 400USD, other equal and lower-temp rated's jumps to 600USD++ so i don't want to make that jump yet.

i kind of like the Ascent more since it has a long zip on the side variant and i can use it as a blanket in warmer temps whereas the Wind River only has torso and footbox zips, but Ascent is an obsoleted model which went for as low as 230USD towards EoL a few years ago. i feel fucking conflicted and headache'd and am now contemplating getting the Wind River just to get it over with.

Yeah i wash mine in modestly warm water and throw it in a machine dryer and it seems fine, only 2 seams for the sleeves
