It sounds like a prepared piano to me - something large and soft laid across the lower strings inside the piano, with the strings being plucked or struck with drumsticks really close to the mute. It's likely some sort of war drum patch: a midi instrument made of a bunch of instances of the same drum (or drum sound) offset and detuned slightly. If it's timpani it's being compressed and gated to shit. If it's cannonfire, same same, but it definitely sounds percussive.
