showcase your portfolio, upgrade your skill
static design -> motion design
2D design -> 3D design
3 months work time -> 1 month
do tiktok, hop in the latest #fyp consumables but make sure to include your own OC alongside the trend hopping.

As an employer:
why in the world would anyone put their photo on an ad for services that do not require your face?
first of all, you're ugly, we are all ugly. There is a 1% chance that 0.000001% of the employers looking at your ad will find you attractive or friendly to look at. Instead use your graphic design skills and create something aesthetically pleasing, beautiful or eye catching as your ad. Let your work speak for you.
Photos on ads, Resumes, portfolios, and business cards are CRINGE AF. it comes off as borderline narcissistic.
Again, as an employer, I hire at least 1-2 graphic artists a month to do designs, logos, ads, etc...And I cannot highlight enough how off-putting it is to see a photo with your presentation...this is 2000's type of vibe and it makes you look outdated.

>go into illustration as a career choice
>had some clients, but discover the industry is saturated and competitive as fuck
>try to go into storyboarding
>enjoy it, but it’s also a competitive field and learn the animation industry is rough
>go back to school to learn graphic design
>can only get work as a “production artist”
>discover this field is also saturated and competitive as fuck
I’ve worked full time as mostly a production artist for content-production agencies, but I got laid off from my last job 3 months ago and I’m struggling to find something new. I really don’t enjoy coding/programming (I feel like I have dyslexia looking at html) and motion graphics (too time consuming), but I’m wondering if I need to if it helps me get employed
I really don’t know what to do anymore

I have a small client base, entirely through client referrals
The work advertises itself
I don't claim credit for the work publicly
I don't have an agency
I don't have socials
I don't have a website
I don't have a portfolio
Just be one of the best in the world at something

you can learn marketing and then get yourself out in the public eye or whoever you want to be doing graphics for, have to learn business skills and such.

I've only worked at one agency and it was a marketing agency. Rest of my experience has been the shitty small business freelance, or being the in-house graphic (and web dev) person.
At the marketing agency I worked at, everything was heavily siloed. I received assignments. I never saw any steps of the business side of things, how they find clients, how they negotiate with them, contracts, etc.
