would be cool alt history, it's just a different name, was originally gonna just have a bigger russian federation but this could seal the deal, tho this does mean the USSR doesn't fall and that might be too cliche for my taste.

I really like arms and emblems with physical things in them that aren't just in the sheild because that makes it exist in this theoretical void space where all of those things are just frozen in time with floaty text around it

Shield looks more like Auxiliary Parma than Round Ottoman Cavalry shield.

You don't even need to copy-paste symbolism, just figure out how it works through the bashing rocks together method. And through real examples.
Find a real country that is like your fake one, and make the symbolism match. That way people have asociations with your world and you need to explain less

I only have two but I'm starting to like the idea of decorating my house a lot more with them.
Which matters more to you, the aesthetic appeal or the symbolic meaning? Does the meaning matter that much to you if the flag just looks cool?

So the point of mars in this world is that it's first colonized by multiple different parties, countries, a few more private ventures and some more schizo ventures, and it has had a short point in its past where most of the polities on mars were semi-independent politically and during the 90's, with the collapse of the soviet union and the near collapse of the united states, it's decided that mars would be better off as a politically independent entity, and the colonies break off and form their own states, but they don't fully control all of mars, by 2001 most of the landmass is "unclaimed" and has minimal settlement, thus when the martian republic is declared the "terra incognita" which i am thinking was like international waters becomes the 3 territories of mars, like 70% of the planet and i was wondering does this flag give that vibe?
