microsdcard
Why do micro sd cards and other hard drives come in 32, 128, 256, 512 gb and not just in multiples of 100, 200, 300 or something?

Not really though. SD/ssd/harddisks have come in many other sizes in between. Just look. 20/40/80/100/120/140/160/180/200/240GB etc all exist or have existed in the past. They just aren't as popular at the moment, but alternative sizes have been very popular at times. Not as much with SD cards as with ssds and HDs but they still exist.

The progression of making chips smaller so they can fit more of them on a board is different from the progression of making magnetic tracks narrower so they can fit more of them on spinning rust.
