Wanting it to be true and it actually being true are 2 different things. LLMs for software development are still just robust IDEs.

How can you see this and not look forward to the inevitable collapse caused by premature integration?

The person to code ratio is gonna plummet. If AI does 90% of the coding part and makes silly errors time to time, you still only effectively need one person to produce the usable code of 10 people. Someone referred to it as a tard wrangler and I found it funny cause that's what it is
Until they find a way to automate the tard wrangler

The difference is that microsoft excel doesn't do the thinking for you. It effectively makes a person much more efficient but it doesn't replace the abstract higher level thinking that people are capable of
AI does

X_Nazi_Salute_Elon_Musk_Viral_Video
So, the funny thing about this is that explains Mr. Musk's sieg heil perfectly:
1. Facebook was implicated in genocide https://www.amnesty.org/en/latest/news/2022/09/myanmar-facebooks-systems-promoted-violence-against-rohingya-meta-owes-reparations-new-report/ "MYANMAR: FACEBOOK’S SYSTEMS PROMOTED VIOLENCE AGAINST ROHINGYA; META OWES REPARATIONS"
2. Zuckerberg disciplines his engineers by suggesting that he will replace them with AI
3. Mr. Musk decides that he's going to discipline his engineers, the X staff, as well as X users, so he uses his fifteen minutes of fame to absolutely ROCK YOUR WORLD!

That’s not really what is happening. I have a team of 10 people and the only thing it really speeds up is converting JSON to class definitions and minor bash scripts. We still spend far more of our time fleshing out processes and requirements. Building data models. Coding is the end of the job, not the beginning.

10 years ago, AI couldn't even properly do Hello world
What can it do today?
What might it be able to do tomorrow? What about 10 years into the future?
The point isn't that AI is good today. The point is that AI gets better at a pace that humans with our meat brains will never be able to
Let's just take ChatGPT. The fields that it can hold an intelligent conversation in would take a normal human multiple lifetimes to do. It's basically an expert in every human field. Sure it can't innovate. But it can't innovate [[[[yet]]]]

The breakthrough was transformers from the google paper

Now that the foundation has been built, all they can do is increase the power and processing power used to make it more efficient

The problem is diminishing returns have already started to take effect so even if they keep juicing it with more processing power it doesn't mean the result will keep improving

Stop watching scifi movies, nigger. This has changed the industry about as much as IDEs has. Only doomers, commies, and people selling AI products are still selling the “programmers are done” garbage. Which are you?

What, exactly, has Zuck ever produced but a PHP phonebook?

Just like with hiring Indians to replace entry level, you will end up with no senior devs.
AI is not even good enough in replacing entry level positions without supervision, if it ever becomes good enough to do entry level codemonkeying it means we will have reached actual artificial intelligence and can basically create virtual people with 100IQ that slave away 24/7 for free.
This will have consequences in every part of society, not just software development, since you can now replace everyone that can do a remote job with 100 virtual people without paying these 100 virtual people.
And with enough development in robotics you can have specialized robots with the same integrated AI that would take also traditional jobs away eventually.
