There's no reason to not use zram over a traditional disk based swap. I havent used disk based swap in years and have only used an 8GB zram block in my ram as my swap space and it's worked well the whole time with no problems. It's noticably faster when it's swapping (I have a mechanical hard drive) and it actually boosted my framerate in a couple games for whatever reason. Zram is goated.

I forgot about this, I had lots of problems with swap on opensuse that this thing fixed but when I moved to arch I went with more memory so I never need it.

literally free ram. Lifesaver when I need some 4 extra gigs on top of 16 gigs. Slower? yes, but way faster than swap on an nvme
