Do it, but only seek trackers that have content you actually want. I started climbing the ladder on around november 2016. I made my way into all of the top trackers (that I actually wanted) quite shortly. I noticed that what derails a lot of neons is collecting. They start collecting trackers they don't actually want purely out of curiosity and tend to lose track of what their initial goal was. I mostly lurk here now, but one way to get around recruitment requirements is to make "friends" via tracker IRC. Just idle and banter about content you like (and avoid talking about anything even remotely touchy) and you can make it easily. Good luck.
