And by something in particular I mean drag and drop operations that cross the entire screen one or more times.

might as well buy an Elitebook if you want x86 or just get a Macbook Air
years ago it made sense to buy an X220 or X230 over a Macbook because they held up CPU wise plus you got the repairability and options to upgrade the ram now you can't change the ram or half the parts you used to be able to change, plus the M series have exceptional battery life.

>trackpoint is legacy design
The main purpose of the trackpoint is to not move from the home row. If you're doing actual work on a computer, you're predominantly using the keyboard and the trackpoint is essential ergonomic design. Can't expect the fashion designers with engineer titles to understand concepts related to functionality though. Or maybe this is designed for a target market that scrolls and clicks all day. Just gotta copy applel's current trend and we will make it is the ultimate take. The funny thing is, if they copy Apple enough more and more power users will just shift to ishit. Why stay on inferior hardware that just tries to be Apple and have to deal with x86 cancer if you don't have to?

This.
Corporate laptops were only 'rugged' while they were expensive, now they're cheap enough to be mass produced and it's easy enough to blame employees for breakage, so they don't need it.
Meanwhile, schools now kids to a have a laptop, kids are notorious for breaking shit and it's usually the parents that have to buy the laptop, so they're made tough - even if underpowered.

You'd think so, due to consumer pricing but enterprise gets ass pounded by the rest as well. A Dell that should run 1500 at worst will be sold to enterprise customers for 3-4k. The macs I've deployed tend to have fewer issues and need fewer part swaps or whole replacements. Users aren't begging me for a refresh after 3 years like they do with our dells. Long term (10yrs+), macs come out on top.
