which is the last thinkpad that can be modded with older keyboards and does not have soldered components like the x230?

currently planning on buying a Latitude 5430, can get the i5 (basically underclocked i7) for about 200 bucks, overall its a great deal but i'm having the problem that i'm now looking to hackingtoshing since recently bought an iphone and migrated my shit to icloud, leading to me having issues syncing stuff to my computer since itoys don't play nice with usb and i'm tired of this shit.
since the 5430 is 12th gen intel, its not supported by macos, so i'm looking for something that's 10th gen intel and supported by opencore. currently looking at the t480 since that has a relatively decent hackingtosh community and has coreboot, but i'll ask in the thread if anyone knows of options for that here
>inb4 buy a mac
bring me a fucking macbook with atleast 16 gigs of ram for under 300 dollars
>inb4 get an android
been an android user all my life, but using the iphone since icloud+ is basically a bargain and i like the thing.

>>103895104 here, did some digging
decided to look into the t14 gen 1 as a start for alternatives, but by comparing geekbench scores it seems that the t480, t14g1 and also the latitude 5410 are on par with eachother? has there really been any performance generational leap between 8th and 10th gen aside GPU stuff?

the T470 can accept the T25 keyboard without modification and the T480 can with some modification but its expensive as fuck.

Guys, I'm seriously at risk of not buying a Thinkpad. I need something small and light and less than $500 used.

Is the x series not considered good anymore? I loved my x220 and x230. I have an x240 now but it's not as good as my x220 or 30. I'm looking to get another but I see the x series is gone from the tag general info. I see x1 carbon for sale for the same price. Are those any good? I'm looking to use it as a guitar amp and recorder.

I'm looking for the same. I had a great experience with my x220 having mac os on it. But I see macbook pros for 300 and under with i7s and some with 16gb of ram on Facebook market. Touch bar to

I can get T14s Gen 1 AMD 16GB RAM 4650u for £150. Machine is in good condition but the 'G' keycap is missing and there are 400 charge cycles on the machine. Is this worth it? wondering how much of a pain it will be to get a G key since it's a unique shape because it sits next to the track point.
They normally go for 250+ in decent condition over here. Does anyone how many hours battery life the 1st gen AMD t14s will get with a new battery installed?

The part directly above and below the standby battery is good but somehow the top above has issues (first picture)
The back lamp connector is loose and the lid close switch is off. Many contacts near are bad, but the large chiosets seem good

It is very hard to take a picture but it looks like the glass is cracks in the corners. I'm not sure. There is no discoloured pixels or indication of the lcd damage.
It is normal for most thinkpads of this age to have this screen issue.
The special glue used to adhear the lcd polariser layer decomposes and becomes what you see. You have to clean the old adhesive off and apply a new polariser layer.
I worry this one is cracked though somehow
I worry the pcb is unrepairable because I don't have a schematic
:(

Good luck with that, man. I repaired my 380XD but only by buying an entire other one that did have a good screen, then cannibalizing the screen. Thankfully the one I bought was screwed in its own way that was much harder to fix, so it was a good parts machine.
Its currently alive and running Windows 95.

I did that with thinkpad 755cd
I now own 4 and two work
The one that works the best had the standby battery replaced with a new one some time in the past so it never leaked, but it did have some capacitor damage
95 would be maybe but if this works I will probably put 3.11 on it
