What was the irl inspiration for Yamcha's long hair?

I feel like with some of Toryiama's characters we see irl haircuts or irl inspired haircuts.

For example, with Future Trunks we see him rocking some 90s curtains, then curtains with a ponytail, then long straight hair parted in the middle. We also see these hairstyles appear on other DBZ and Dragon Quest characters. Other real hairstyles seen in his work include bowl cuts, mohawks and bald. There's also this like, short swooped over side part on some female characters.

But I can't figure out where Yamcha's came from, though it feels more grounded in reality than a lot of the Saiyan.

What do you guys think?

I feel like maybe it's kind of like a texture/layered mullet thing.

Yamcha got cucked by Vegeta. Don't be Yamcha and get a fade.
