how do i get into vests? what's good? shapes? what works with what?
considering getting one for finer occasions but no clue at all. cotton yes? most at the stores and second hand are polyester.

They’ve fallen out of fashion and purpose. Don’t bother. The only vests you should wear are outerwear, down vests and the like. If you want a wool outerwear vest in a traditional cut, Filson makes a good one. Otherwise, don’t bother with the sort of “vests” in the OP.
