excluding supplements that I need to stay sane on night shift like Vitamin D3.
Shower at night so my sheets are clean which I was with powder detergent and baking soda just like the rest of my clothes to get rid of stains.
Before I shower hydrate face with warm water, apply shaving cream from bar or cream form then rinse off to get the oil layer off first. Apply again and shave WTG, ATG, XTG, and stretch skin out in trouble spots. This is done with a double edge razor the Drakkat + gives me almost a BBS but skill issue is present. No nicks but rarely weepers again either a skill issue or blade issue but zero irritation.
Then apply witch hazel with alcohol on a cotton ball or round to get rid of the soap residue. Let dry for a minute and apply aftershave in either a balm or liquid form. Then let rest for a minute before taking a shower to use my bar soap to clean it off with my Salux scrubber that gets thrown in the wash weekly. Then I use the scrubber for the rest of my body.
Best skin of my life my face has ever seen. Truly understanding on which spectrum of oil your face/body resides on is the key to better skin. However most of my acne has been on my back most of my life so I am biased in my view point.

>Sometimes smear retinol on my face at night
If you're going to use retinol you have to be consistent. Either work up to nightly or don't use it at all, I'm pretty sure only using it a few times a week is purely wasting money.
>cold showers
I really gotta starting doing those again, it's remarkable how much better they are for your skin.
Other than these comments, you know your skin better than I do. If it works, good stuff. Do try to think proactively though; maybe you don't need moisturizer now but maybe it will slowing aging down, etc.

I think on average this is probably true because women have hormonal fluctuations and men generally don't, but when men do have skin issues they seem to be more severe. Also almost every guy I know has dandruff at least during part of the year, body acne and ingrown hairs seem to be way more common too

How long does it usually take you guys to do your skincare routine in the morning?
I could do it in 5 minutes if I didn't give a shit about letting things absorb but I use vitamin C in the morning and give it 20 minutes to absorb. Then if I wear moisturizer under my sunscreen, that's another ten minutes of waiting. It's at the point where I just use my sunscreen as my moisturizer. There's got to be a better way.

Guiding principles:
stay hydrated, avoid cigarettes, caffeine and alcohol, get high quality sleep, eat well, exercise, change bedsheets weekly, always use sun protection
Routine:
- Warm (not hot) showers, daily in the morning, after workout
- Wash face using hands with CeraVe for normal skin, daily in the morning
- Wipe down face with warm washcloth in the evening
- Clinique Men moisturizer with SPF21 in the morning
- CeraVe PM Ultra Lightweight lotion in the evening
- Nivea Men on the body in the morning
- Shave every other day, using a tallow-based shave soap, one pass with the grain only (it's not perfectly smooth, but it looks fine. No one's given me a credit card test since I left the military anyway.)
- Alcohol-free witch hazel aftershave
I find a healthy lifestyle is more important for good skin than a routine that includes a million different treatments. Genetics also plays a part. My parents are in their late 60s and look like they're in their late 40s (only my father's snow white hair gives them away.)

100%. Diet has a huge impact. Skincare is for treating specific issues, protecting against environmental factors, enhancing the skin, and protecting against aging.
My routine:
AM:
Rinse face
Vitamin C
Moisturizer
Sunscreen
PM:
Cleanser
Retinol
Moisturizer
When I shave I just use shave gel, go with the grain, and apply my moisturizer right after. I never much saw the point of aftershave.

>I never much saw the point of aftershave.
It's an astringent to close the pores and prevent moisture loss. The alcohol can also act as a disinfectant to prevent cuts from getting irritated.
However, alcohol dries the skin out, so it's best to use an alcohol free astringent like witch hazel. If you actually do get a cut anywhere, you can use a styptic pencil instead.

Anyone able to get tazarotene gel or cream 0.05%/0.1% in SEA?
Vietnam used to have 0.1% gel. But they removed the "0.1%" label and now supposedly only have 0.01% Tazarotene in picrel.
I rather not import from India. I don't think it will pass the custom anyways. Thinking to visit a pharmacy/derm in neighboring SEA or Asian country and get the tazarotene.

You don't need to do this at all.
1-2 minutes is plenty of time for each layer to absorb before you apply the next one. You don't need to wait until your skin is completely dry, just give it long enough that the next layer won't wipe off the previous one when you put it on.

How do I identify what's fucking up my skin?
I was in an extended vacation abroad (Asia) and I noticed the occasional acne I get dissapeared. I thought it may be all the fancy skin products I bought in Asia but now after a while at home it came back. Obviously something in my environment or lack thereof is doing this but I can't find out what.
Anyone experienced something like this?

Higher cortisol levels are usually correlated with breakouts, although that may actually be because stressful lifestyles, like sitting at your desk indoors all day studying and getting little sleep, are greasy

it's an occlusive, so use it the same way as slugging. no active under where you apply it. i only clean, HA serum, moisturizer, and then a layer of cicaplast on top before bed. most minor things heal in a single night. speeds up healing for more serious damage.

minimum needed is every other night otherwise you're wasting your time and irritating your skin for no reason. retinol is already on the weaker end to begin with.
>Sometimes wear mineral sunscreen
you should wear a broad spectrum SPF30 or higher every day. it's cumulative over a long period of time that accelerates aging and increases risk of cancer.
sounds like you got lucky in the skin department, don't let that make you think you're the exception to UV damage.

you should give your routine if you want real help. could be something you're doing / not doing. women can get hormonal acne along their jawline, but if not that it could be practically anything.

agree with response, but would add to it if you don't think its environmental or stress.
the best way to find if a particular ingredient or food is causing outbreak is to simplify your routine as much as possible and be consistent until you can find something that works. once you find a stable base you can start slowly adding stuff back until you break out again. use incidecoder.com to compare skin care ingredients.
make your diet as simple as possible too. things like dairy, sugar, and high processed food can cause acne. you could also have an allergy that causes acne. try to stick to whole foods (mostly veggies by volume, fruit, white meat, fish, nuts). only drink water.
you can also talk to your derm or gp about an allergy test.
if you were more active during vacation, you may want to try exercise. even walking could help. exercise helps improve blood flow to the skin that help provide nourishment and remove toxins and dead cells.
also, the canned response - clean your pillowcase every few days.

How the fuck do I get a shave without irritation or shadow? I can feel the blade doing little micro-tears in my skin as i shave. This was with a Harry's razor i got as a gift. I usually do electric but still get irritation. Sorry for gross pic.

Have tried straight and safety with the same results.

Against or with the grain it does not matter - it's always like this.

have you ever had a professional shave at a decent barber shop? if you can find one that gives you a good shave you could ask them.
there's a good chance you'll get some razor burn around the adam's apple or other uneven surfaces. these cuts, "burns", need to be disinfected and sealed to prevent bacteria from getting in. most of what i can see in the picture is inflammation.
you'll need to experiment around, results are different for everyone, but the staples are: alum block, witch hazel, and alcohol aftershave for the disinfectant.
none of those worked for me. i use a 10% benzoyl peroxide face wash.
my routine:
- shave with electric razor. not the closest shave but least irritating for me. this will differ largely by person.
- hop in shower and wash face with 10% benzoyl peroxide face wash. when i put the face wash on i leave it for 3-4 minutes to give it time to kill germs.
- out of the shower, right after drying off, i use a moisturizer.
the moisturizer not only hydrates the skin, it also creates a protective layer to prevent contaminates from getting in and has calming ingredients.

can acne purging from tretinoin tropical 0.05, cause permanent acne scarring? My nodular acne has suddenly flared up after I'd started using this 5 weeks ago and was wondering if the damage is going to be permanent making the whole idea of using tret useless in the first place.

the purge shouldn't last too long and you'll have less acne over the long term so worth it. you should give it a full 12 weeks to start seeing the results before stopping.
also be sure during this time you only clean, moisturize, and spf. other actives should be on hold until your skin acclimates to the tretinoin.

their barrier cream appears to be something like Illiyoon Ceramide Ato Concentrate Cream, so i would use it like a heavy moisturizer at night.

yes, it's often prescribe together with tretinoin. you want to use them at different times though.
benzoyl peroxide can break down the tretinoin and make it less effective. (there's some conflicting evidence on this) tretinoin should be used at night due to sun exposure issues.
that means the benzoyl peroxide / clindamycin should be used in the morning on clean, dry skin before moisturizer and sunscreen.
you want to be careful with what you wear; the benzoyl peroxide will bleach fabrics. hopefully after your skin adjust to the tret you won't need to use bp. also, bacterial resistance will make clindamycin ineffective relatively quickly. it's not a long term solution.
bp is one of the goats at clearing acne, but it's pretty harsh. leave on bp especially - dehydrates skin and ruins clothes, sheet, and towels.
epiduo is another option. it's an adapalene/benzoyl peroxide 2-in-1. it may be a better fit if tret doesn't work out. unlike tret, adapalene is stable with bp. for me, i eventually needed to go on isotretinoin.
hope this helps :) the purge is miserable. it's worth trying though even if it feels like forever now.

I've been using tret (started with 0.05) for a couple weeks, slowly increasing the frequency. No nasty side effects so far. I've just started applying it every other night, and now I'm moving on from the moisturizer sandwich technique to applying it directly on my skin. I use a face wash beforehand, now that I'm not applying tret between moisturizer layers, should I still wait around 20 minutes after rinsing and drying my face of the face cleanser before putting on the tret like how I did when I used a moisturizer buffer or can I just put it on immediately after I dry my face with a towel after washing it?
Also what/when's a good sign that I should ask my doctor for a stronger dosage of tret?

>for a couple weeks
Imho, if you didn't get any adverse effects from sandwich method, just continue for now at least for 6 months to a year. And see if there's noticeable improvement. Take pictures for your own reference.
The instruction usually says to wash your face and let it dry from 20-30 mins. Use tissue to make sure. Then apply the tretinoin. If you want to stop sandwich method, try this method first. Directly applying tret after washing may or may not increase irritation. But we should not make such a huge gamble with our skin.
Personally the recommended 20 mins wait make my skin too dry and uncomfortable. I prefer buffering. But I understand there's a cost associated with this approach. And most people want quicker results.
>Also what/when's a good sign that I should ask my doctor for a stronger dosage of tret?
If it doesn't solve your issue or show any result. Like acne, fine lines, etc. after 6-12 months.

Seems like a brand I'm unfamiliar with. For future sunscreens I'd screen their ingredient list using something like the ingredient checker on Paula's Choice site for known irritants:
https://www.paulaschoice.com/beautypedia-ingredient-checker
Paula's has their own sunscreens on their site, but they can be a bit pricey.
There are also combo moisturizers with spf, but from the articles I've read it looks like they're less effective UV protection than just sunscreens, and reapplying them throughout the day (as you'll meed to for sun protection) will just make your face feel greasier

A good first-line website is incidecoder. Paula's Choice is better for individual ingredients but incidecoder will have a page on the product categorizing each ingredient by function and whether the owner of the site thinks it's bad. Helps eliminate ingredients that are virtually certain to not be the problem.
whatisinmyjar is similar but I'm not sure how well-maintained it is.

Not sure which of their sunscreens he's using but it should be on this list.

Also what's your use case? Do you sweat much during the day? Do you work outside?
If you spend most of your time indoors you could look into an ultra-light sunscreen like Round Lab Dokdo. It will roll right off if you break a sweat but it's light, non-greasy, and shine-free.
If you need a tougher sunscreen many of them like Purito Soft Touch Daily have decent-ish water resistance and can act as a standalone moisturizer.
Ultimately you will have to experiment with a few, for me I would scroll YesStyle and StyleVana and read reviews on products that looked promising before trying them.

why does it feel like it's impossible to change my skin
some big problems i have are dehydration (i look way older than i should at 19), post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone (i was on roaccutane for 10 months) and dry lips that never seem to look good in texture. like i use lip balm but they just always look odd.
i've been struggling with my skin and looks for years and i feel like my diet here is the problem + lack of exercise. i don't feel like i have true sun damage since i am inside a lot (kinda too much on the computer) so i also have eyebags under my eyes
my problem is probably sugar and dairy and lack of fruits. i eat a decent amount of veggies and meat so that isn't as much of a problem.
i'm currently using a gentle cerave cleanser + moisturizer for dry to normal skin and it never feels like it can fix the dehydration, my skin also visibly has like a "peel-off" look but it never truly peels off, it's just dry, dead skin probably
whenever i shower, after i shower, i can scratch my legs and arms to the point where i get small white-grayish (?) stuff that peels off which i assume is dead skin cells
i'm just incredibly confused as to what to do. maybe i shower wrong? i use a soap bar and don't moisturize after showering or exfoliate. i'm assuming it might be stripping my oils too much and it's concerning bcs i've been showering this way for years.
is it possible to totally revamp your skin throughout your 20s and fix damage? like it would immensely improve my looks. roaccutane got rid of a lot of acne that i had to the point where it isn't present anymore but my skin still sucks. derma is useless and ignores my dehydrated skin and just says "oh bro, apply moisturizer man" and i do but...doesn't work to fix the problem...
picrel is my leg, for an example of what i'm dealing with all over my body. i scratched it a bit with my nails to show the problem.

derms are just like everything in life, in a classroom of 50 , 5 are goood 10 are a disaster and the rest is the middle "who kniws" , try another derm.
oh in case you are curious Im using a glycerine cheap soap which is not good but is not too bad.

Can't offer too much advice but iktf man. My skin is very dry just about everywhere, doctors don't really offer much more advice beyond "drink more water bro", "use lotion", or "some people are just like that".
>maybe i shower wrong? i use a soap bar and don't moisturize after showering or exfoliate. i'm assuming it might be stripping my oils too much and it's concerning bcs i've been showering this way for years.
if you have hard water (white spots on everything that gets wet, mineral buildup around your water fixtures) that might be part of the problem, i think it is for me.

You've been using an actual, physical umbrella?
If you walk on light-colored surfaces you're still getting UV, plus you need to carry the umbrella around. Not a terrible system but it's mogged by sunscreen.

tazarotene is another retinoid and you shouldn't use it while also using tretinoin. both can help with hyperpigmentation. i'd run the full 12 weeks with tretinoin and if you're still interested in trying something else, switch to the tazarotene. moving from tret to taz won't be as bad as your initial entrance into tret since you already purged.
you should take a look at this video. not exhaustive, but a good rundown of retinoids.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbeopWc_xLE
https://labmuffin.com/ultimate-guide-to-drug-retinoids/
you should also talk to a derm about hyperpigmentation. there are a few things that can help depending on type of hyperpigmentation, severity, skin tone, skin type, finances, etc.
one of the go-to's is hydroquinone, but it's use has an on/off cycle and needs to be monitored by a dermatologist. unchecked, it can cause some serious damage. also you'd want to use that after fixing your acne and may not be necessary once you've been on a retinoid for a while.
see here for more: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9165630/#t1-dic-2021-11-2
>thoughts on microdosing accutance
definitely need to talk to a derm about this. i'd say it's an absolute last option. while on accutane you need to take monthly blood test to check liver function and cholesterol. you also can't drink alcohol and you can't take certain medications, even tylenol, because it will damage your liver.
for me, my first month of accutane was 20mg. my cholesterol spiked over double. i had to be very careful with my diet, take fish oil, and exercise the entire time i was on it. i couldn't maintain that over the long term and i like to have a drink every now and then.
bunch of other side effects and issues that can come up that you should look into. can't get pregnant because of birth defects, etc.
that being said some people do it because it's the only thing that works for them.

>should I still wait around 20 minutes
your skin should be completely dry. i usually wait 10 mins after drying, apply pea sized amount, wait 10 mins, then apply moisturizer.
>when's a good sign that I should ask my doctor for a stronger dosage
if for acne, wait 12 weeks after you start using directly on the skin daily. if for anti-aging, wait 6 months and bumping up to 0.1% probably won't make a difference. you should look into different retinoid.
>>18352182
i default rec cerave because it's one of the cheapest while still being effective and non-irritating. it's a safe choice. not always the best for you specifically, but a good base to start from. eucerin seems to be more popular with the eczema/psoriasis/very dry skin crowd. someone with oily skin probably would like it as much. similar with la roche posay moisturizer. leans more toward dryer skin types.
>>18352324
if you don't have a skin condition and you're under 25, this plus spf is all you need. i want to stress spf. it's the most important thing that you can do. spf 30 or higher, UVA + UVB protection.
this one's pretty good: https://www.cerave.com/skincare/moisturizers/ultra-light-moisturizing-lotion-spf-30
if you do that every day, you'll be miles ahead of your peers in +5 years.
around 25-30, you should look into getting a retinoid like tretinoin.

you should get a second opinion from another dermatologist. you have have mild eczema or psoriasis.
you could try a few different things.
- salicylic acid soap -
https://www.cerave.com/skincare/cleansers/sa-cleanser-bar-for-rough-and-bumpy-skin
this could help remove some of the dead skin.

let your body moisturizer sit for a little bit and then put a thin layer of a petrolatum based product to lock it in. these are occlusives meaning no water passes through them. target the driest parts at least; elbows, knees, hands, feet. if it's too heavy for the daytime, you'll still benefit from only doing it before bed.

of course. you're young and you should be patient with yourself. it can take a few months of using a product before you can see results. finding all the things that work for _your_ skin can take years of trial and error. it's worth it once you get there. the biggest thing you need to watch out for is scarring from acne and sun damage.

What suggestions for a Vitamin C serum (EU). Currently I have the - Germaine de Capuccini Timexpert Radiance Pure C10. But it is rather expensive considering how fast it gets used up and the shell life is short.
Currently using serum AM and retinol (Ordinary 1%) PM everyday. Main skin issues are capillary redness from very strong acne I had for many years, not sure if this would help much without laser intervention.

This Etude Soon Jung 10-Free Moist Emulsion saved my dry and red skin. My sister gave me a few of her skincare samples from a Korean store she buys from, and this one was so good I made her buy me a full tube. Depending on where you live I think price varies, she found this for $15 USD. A little goes a long way. I used to use a cerave cream but this one is honestly better, even if it's an "emulsion", whatever the hell that means. Would definitely suggest for dry, flaked, red skin.

hello frens,
I'm starting to fall into the /skg/ rabbit hole. I'm 27yo ( almost 28 ) and I want to start taking care of my face.
I used to just wash face with water and used an all-body lotion.
Since last week, my routine has been:
morning
1) wash face with Low PH Good morning Gel cleanser.
2) let face dry, no towel
3) put on moisturizer ( UNO cream protection)
4) if going out, I put on sunscreen
night routine
1) VERSED cleansing balm to remove sunacreen
2) wash face with cleansing gel
3) let face dry
4) apply REMEDY pore size (0.3% retinol, 1% Salicylic, 5% niacinamide)
5) apply UNO cream protection moisturizer
6) vaseline on lips
should i think about using tretinoin?
also, any recommendations for eye bags?
thabks luv

Ive been using this shit for months now and it works, but its simply too damn expensive to justify buying if i dont have too. From what i can tell, the only difference between this and the 20% as expensive daily moisturizer is the 4% niacinimide. Any idea if thats actually worth it?

not much difference, some sunscreens require use of moisturizezr (for me it was BoJ rice probiotic spf)
also if you get sunscreen and moisturizer from the same company/line, they will have similar formula and some people might be interested in centella moisturizer and probiotic sunscreen

niacinamide helps with reducing oiliness, redness, helps with acne. it has many uses. if you dont care about these then get the alternative. if you do, maybe a drop or two of 10% niacinamide serum to mix with moisturizer will do the trick
pretty sure you can get something similar though. check your local skincare companies

That makes sense. It certainly feels dried after only 5 minutes.
My only real reservation is how long I should wait after applying moisturizer before applying sunscreen. I don't generally bother waiting around for the sunscreen to set since I'm indoors most of the day anyway but I do want to make sure it's actually coating my skin and adhering correctly.

Is Ordinary a good brand for skin care? I've never really used anything, maybe Neutrogena or Nivea from time to time, sometimes I buy cheap ones but want to try something better. Mostly, moisturizers and serums for more radiant skin. I already have clear skin with no pimples or anything but need it to look less dry and old.

id say when moisturizer dried up
cant say specific amount of minutes because
- the moisturizer can soak in fast (cerave pm) or slow (lipikar baume ap+m), also depends on your skin
- the amount of moisturizer also affects the time to dry
i think the main idea is to not mix two different products because their formulation will "change" and might not work as intended (products might start piling, some actives wont work that well in presence of a product with different ph or certain ingredients etc)
> I do want to make sure it's actually coating my skin and adhering correctly.

>Is Ordinary a good brand for skin care?
its okay, often recommended by derms on youtube, but as all companies they have some products that are not the best and it is better to look elsewhere or skip them completely. the ordinary in particular has many serums in their portfolio that has one or two ingredients. because of this, it would be best to make an educated purchase and learn what they do beforehand. a 10% niacinamide serum seem great at first but no clinical trial was done with 10% concentration, they are usually 2-5%. some people get irritation/redness because of high concentration
>more radiant skin. I already have clear skin with no pimples or anything but need it to look less dry and old.
so you need a basic routine which is cleanser, sunscreen, retinoid, moisturizer. not sure which of these are good in the ordinary line. for recs from other companies check the archive

Once you start using a retinol/retinoid/derivative, how long are you supposed to continue using it, only until you see results? Does it become a life-long thing? I have been using a <1% retinol product daily for 6 months for acne scars, saw improvement, but now see I've hit a plateau. Scars are now only barely visible. Do I need to move to something stronger?

if you are trying to fix something - anywhere between 3 months and 2 years (derms usually say epiduo is 2 years commitment)
if you are using it for anti aging then either you use it until you are happy with the results or forever (just like sunscreen right?)
if you have reached your goals it is up to you what you want to do next. might as well take a break, especially if you are in your early 20s. take a pic of yourself now and see how things are in 3-12 months or after mid 20s

I looked into those a while back and read some reviews, basically they don't cover the whole UV range so you might just be showing one or two filters in their best light while your sunscreen is actually lacking in other areas of the spectrum. A real, proper UV camera costs thousands of dollars.
I'm fine with just letting my moisturizer sit until dry and then applying my sunscreen. It's winter in the northern hemisphere so I don't need to stress too hard right now.

one of the next things i want to try is something like laser therapy or microneedling. seems like you get better results from that. skinceuticals is supposed to be the goat for vit c though. i've heard good things about timeless ($25) and melano cc ($10).

never heard of tonymoly, haven't seen it around skincare communities. i could just be out of the loop. most use the cosrx advanced snail 96 mucin. it is hydrating and some say it's soothing for certain types of irritation. i went through a couple of bottles of it, but decided to use other products for hydration instead. some say it's their `holy grail`. everyone's different.

this is correct. if you over exfoliate you can thin out you skin barrier and even remove it, so the razor nicks don't need to be deep to cause problems. you should back off the SA. a damage skin barrier is a nightmare to deal with and take a long time to repair. you should exfoliate less frequently when you start back up.

it wouldn't do anything for fungus and little for the calluses. calluses usually need a bit more work.
if you put cerave or aquaphor healing ointment on and the put on some old socks to cover before bed it will help soften and remove the calluses
for the fungus, get some Lotrimin AF Liquid. if that doesn't work you should visit your gp for a prescription antifungal. shouldn't let that continue.
if you get fungus regularly, you need to look at how you maintain your feet. you need to wash with soap every day, as in hands or washcloth massaging your feet. then out of the shower you need to wait until your feet are completely dry before socks and shoes. dry off with a towel and then wait ~10 min. you can use a moisturizer. look into wool socks to make sure the moisture is wicked away. darn tough makes really great socks. try to reduce the amount of time in boots or some other closed shoe that prevents air flow. always take you shoes and socks off when indoors at home.

I don't think it matters much. As long as:
- it can remove the sunscreen
- not too stripping
I would recommend oil cleanser/micellar water + gentle cleanser though.
But if tret is effective for you, most likely you won't need to be very careful with your routine in a few months.

I end up getting a lot of dry, flaky skin around my cheeks and chin after I shave. It's been a problem for years, especially in the winter but also in the summer. I've tried different aftershaves, Nivea face cream, using different soaps, using different shaving creams, different razors, exfoliating, not exfoliating, and nothing's really fixed it.
My mom's even a dermatologist (retired), and you'd think this would be helpful, but the only advice she ever gives when I've brought it up to her is "Oh, you should use Dove soap. Are you using Dove soap, anon?" as if I haven't already done that.
Any ideas, /fa/?

As for scalp skincare I generally use a gentle conditioner as my scalp cleanser every night, and follow it up by just painstakingly applying moisturizer to my scalp since I'm not going to be out in public and will just rinse it out in the morning. Do you guys think that's a good enough routine?

I get ingrown hairs between my thighs and recently I finally got one on my dick. They never go away if I leave them, just leave a mostly-colorless bump that I can easily feel when washing myself. I can't help but keep fucking with them and trying to push the hair out, which always leaves a small scar if I actually go mental enough with the tweezers to force them out.
Whenever I look this up they just say to do warm compresses every day and try to draw the hair out that way, but that seems like it never works for me. Is there any consistent way to deal with these fuckers?

you're physically exfoliating, so it could be too much. the winter could also be contributing to the dryness. skin is not consistent over the entire body. some areas will be different that others. for me, my calves are my driest spot. also drink 2-3L of water a day.
try using a moisturizer and apply immediately after drying off from shower.

literally just sleep, exercise, put suncreen, and you wont have skincare problems ever unless you have shit-tier bottom 10% genetics
more so if you're a man since men naturally produce more collagen and have thicker skin

are you cleaning before? you shouldn't breakout from moisturizer unless it's an occlusive. cerave cream shouldn't. you may be allergic to one of the ingredients. have you tried others? dimethicone is a common one people break out from. you could start there. could be anything though.

Which is the least bad for your hair between
>shampooing every day
>shampooing every other day and using dry shampoo on off days
>shampooing infrequently/not at all but blowdrying every day
? It's gotta be one of the three for me because I look so stupid when my hair lies flat with no volume. I tried nopoo for a few months during COVID and the oil level of my hair did eventually kinda even out but I still looked like shit all the time with my hair sticking flat to my head.

Total amateur here, need only one thing in specific:
Equivalent of aquaphor in EU?
I've seen burgers praise this one in particular a lot as far as moisturizers go, looked at the contents and it seems golden
But I don't live in the land of the free, so my only options are straight vaseline or cremes with parfum, aluminum and sulfates
I just need something similar with petroleum jelly and panthenol

>are you cleaning before?
Yes, I put the moisturizer on right after showering. Idk if it's any specific ingredient, or if my skin does not react well to lots of moisturizer of any brand. Honestly I was putting huge fucking gobs of it on. The air gets dry here in the winter, and it felt like my skin needed that much. But, I forget and re-learn this lesson every few years: too much moisturizer is worse than too little, as it causes breakouts. I'm on day 3 of no moisturizer and it's clearing up. Once it's fully back to normal, I'll go back to using the tiny amount that I should. Idk what the exact mechanism is, but I suspect my skin likes to turnover at a high frequency and too much moisturizer just ends up causing dead cells to cling on longer than they should, clogging pores and trapping bacteria and all that shit, idk...

I wouldn't say that, I'd say there is a core of skincare products that are genuinely great (good cleansers, retinol, sunscreen, etc) and those are subsidized by fools who fall for the scam products.
My cleanser/moisturizer/sunscreen combo is god tier and noticeably improved my skin even though I already eat clean and exercise. If research into improving on this is funded by selling meme products to retards, I'm not complaining.

>I don't even wear sunscreen most days
Start with that.
A lot of sunscreens work as moisturizers so if you want to take your absolute first baby steps, get a good cleanser and a good sunscreen. If it's winter where you live, I recommend the Round Lab Dokdo Sun Cream for your sunscreen. Ultra-light, good moisturizer, cosmetically elegant.
Step zero is find your skin type. Wash your face and wait half an hour. Then run a finger along it.
If it's oily, you're oily. If it feels tight, you're dry. If some patches are oily and others dry, you're combination. If it doesn't feel like much of anything, you're normal.

around 25 or so you'll want to talk to a dermatologist about getting on tretinoin.
drink plenty of water ~3-4L
get enough sleep
eat healthy
exercise
there are plenty of other products that you can use for specific concerns or issues. that can make it kinda overwhelming if you're new to it. if you don't have a specific skin issue though, your routine should be pretty simple.
A.M.
cleanse in shower

moisturize
i'm going to re-stress SPF. absolutely mandatory. above all else.

Not in Poland
>There's also the infamous Boderm Taz.
Has been banned in Poland in September/October last year. Will have to try importing it from different EU country (where it is still legal) and hopefully it will go through customs

Cleanser: Glow Recipe Avocado (only use it at night).
Morning: Rinse face, then apply Round Lab Dokdo Sun Cream.
Evenings: Cleanse, then Aveeno Moisturizer.
I live in the northern hemisphere. When spring/summer come around, I will change things up, but this fundamental formula will serve you well assuming you're similar to me.

My bad, anon. Looks like they have been pulling tretinoin products everywhere in EU. Even Germany used to have many more options. Looks like they only have 0.05% Cordes Vas now. And a few other combination creams mixed with antibiotics or other BS.
I wonder if it's because EU Big Skincare's lobbying.
Everything is really going to shit.
gonna kms, goodbye

German derms won't give you tret. There are many threads about this online. Basically if you're in Germany, your best bet is to ask for tret on Dermanostic app. The prescription is obviously valid in other EU countries and Switzerland, but as the Polish anon said >>18373169, tret is simply unavailable in some EU countries even with prescription.

why is that? are there studies show negative effects or do they just don't like using prescriptions for cosmetic purposes?

They may not have branded tret creams, but most likely the larger pharmacies or hospital ones will have the ingredients to concoct one manually.

What else, the European skincare industry put the pressure. EU derms usually have clinics where they offer expensive peels and lasers too. Fuck capitalism.
