I do err on the side of most of them not flipping to mouse hunt mode but ofc it always depends on the cat.

Domestic cats hanging out with pet rats or having affections for owners is common enough of a thing that the wildcats in miniature view fails to sway me. There are cat linkages that've been selected for as pets for 100s of generations.

You could easily outwit any cat if you were shrunk and the difficulty of getting to you in itself would make them lose interest pretty fast. But they would try. They’re socialized with big you and wouldnt recognize little you as more than a cat toy that smells like you.

I think if able to realise it is you, they'd hold off and probably even treat you more like a kitten. But I also think that their capacity to override their instincts isn't that great and they'd end up killing you either by accident during play, or just straight up do it because the ancestral cat demands blood sacrifice. I'd like to think they'd feel bad about it though.
But since this is already fiction I'd say my cat would become my trusty steed and we'd cooperate in building Rude Goldberg machines that feed us meat from the fridge, and I would joust her enemies from atop her back, and she'd help turn the pages when I read.
