The ideas behind dog breeding needs to be reformed, in it's current form it is all about killing variety, which is the opposite you want in a fit population. Dogs are bred back to their parents to "fix" traits. Spay neuter propaganda makes it sure you can't have any "backup" if the breed gets messed up.
