In regards to that mother cat and kittens I found yesterday, I went back multiple times to look for them again and they weren’t there anymore. The center didn’t pick them up either unfortunately, their catcher is off in another area for a few days. Gonna go back every day until I leave in hopes that I find them again.

Not Jefrey related but we got ALL the cats and they’re on their way down to the center right now. The mom, the dad, and the 3 kittens. We captured a total of 5.

The last black kitten was hiding really good but the Thai dude finally found him amongst the tall grass. Fucking needle in a haystack but he managed it.

Went down to the center to check in on them moments ago, and apparently it was 2 moms with 3 kittens, and they were just living together as one unit in the tall grasses next to the beach.

Pretty happy, made my day, I think the kittens can be adopted out since they're still young and can be acclimated to humans. Even the two mothers weren't really fighting back.

Free feeding cats is okay if they are not getting overweight and you keep their bowl clean. Maybe an intact cat does not get fat as easily.

Gonna repost it since i can't find a cat general.

So by circumstances outside of my control i now have an old(ish) cat.
Its 11 years old, always been indoor and hasn't been fixed (thats not here nor there i just thought i would mention).
We are doing fine but i wonder if im making any big mistake feeding him since i know jackshit.
Basically he has an always full bowl of picrel (or a similar one from that brand since it usually has a discount on my supermarket) with his bowl of water.
Then in the morning i feed him some scraps of whatever protein source im gonna cook for the day(s) so someday is some chicken other times is tuna etc; and in the afternoon i feed him a slice of turkey deli meat.
The cat is doing fine, is fit and looks strong, he doesn't really overeat so i havent felt the need to restrain his bowl so he has free access to it.
Basically am i falling into any big pitfall? is this brand of food poison or i shouldnt give him breakfast or whatever.
Im earnestly asking as somebody that has no idea what is doing.
English is not my first language, so please forgive any and all grammar mistakes.

The food is a brand of Affinity, which seems to have some other brands but im assuming its probably some cheap stuff.

For cats I would suggest switching to prinarily a high quality wet food for dinner and providing some dry for snacking. Wet food is much healthier for cats.

It's only a tiny bit more work than free feeding, but it will probably extend your cats life appreciably.
